Ive had my account for just over 2 weeks and can say ive had no problems with the community, except for being ignored while LFG for missions and such. I play on PvP servers, and heres my 2 cents, if you want to play on a PvP server, u do so knowing full well what the consequences are. Be it being ganked in Ashenvale and Hillsbrad or whatever, its not important

I completely agree with you, but the problem in WoW PvP servers is not in the opposing faction ganking lowbies. That's to be expected, and as you say, anyone who has a problem with this has no business making a char there.
Most of my problems in a PvP server don't come from people who gank newbs, but rather the community relations in one's own faction. It's the wanna-be elite attitudes and rampant childish behavior that run rampent in PvP servers more than any other that drive me away to places where people act a bit better than this.
For instance, I once saw a 59 mage polymorph an enemy player during a large PvP skirmish, and a newb who didn't realize what he was doing attacked the sheeped enemy and broke the spell. No big deal though since most of the opposing faction members were already dead, it wasn't hard to take this one down either. However, this didn't keep the mage getting a few of his friends together to openly flame and humiliate the lowbie over general chat. I don't know about anyone else, but to me this is just uncool behavior, and it's why I agree that at least WoW PvP servers are a lost cause when it comes to community.
It's not a big deal though, you can get just as much PvP on other servers it seems like.
I recently gave up playing WOW and mine resons were a bit diffrent.
I joined a PvE server as I hate to PvP (Ok I got to be me) but then the best gear they go and give to the best PvPer's. They keep "fixing" the issues in the game but have failed to look at the main lag issue in the game.
WOW is a good game but if at higher levels you need to group and do the high level instances which can take a long time to get a good group together.
I have decided to go back to CoH. Least there I can fly and do nothing or just wail on a bunch of goons if I feel like it. Ok yes there are TF's. But nothing beats flying over the city.

You dont need 15 people tell him to STFU and "We dont care about you" comments. You guys really need to be nicer to the community here and respect them for their decisions. Just becuase this game is popular doesnt make it so you guys can be ass's to everyone else for thier decisions.
Would you expect any less from ther rabid fanatics? Remember this is the WoW community we are talking about
Only reason these people get hostile is because they get so defensive when someone DARES to suggest that thier game is less then perfect. So in reality they DO CARE, so they post and feign caring that this one person quit.
Woohoo! Really, all of you WoW fanboys troll more than the threadstarter does. He simply posted a thread about why he quit and it is helpful as some may not want to try a game that will not last them. I see the same fanboys complaining about people who do not like World of Warcraft. You all post on all of the threads that are the slightest bit negative against WoW and its "TROLL TROLL TROLL OMG GO AWAY NO ONE CARES." Seriously, just don't post in their threads if you don't like them.
Originally posted by firemagic I empathise with the OP. After months of turning a blind-eye to Blizzard's empty promises, sloppy community management, piss-poor communication and bizarre decision-making I've pretty much reached breaking point with WoW. It's apparent at this point that they're abusing the fact that in the MMO world they have no competition, but it's sad to see so much potential being destroyed by so many factors, including what turned out to be the shittiest PvP system in any game ever, in which your win/lose ratio has nothing to do with your score and the amount of hours you PvP has everything to do with it. I bought and played the game based on the PvP system Blizzard advertised before the game released. When they announced they'd decided to remove the dishonor penalties, I shrugged and assumed as professional game designers they were doing the right thing. They weren't. WoW is the best MMO on the market today by a wide margin, IMO... which says so little for the current state of the MMO genre. I still play ocassionally, but I can't see myself sticking with WoW in the long term. Until something better comes along (which doesn't look too hopeful), I'm back in Morrowind and loving it.
Only way blizzard would ever hear your concerns is through cancelled accounts. To the suits at Blizzard only know that active accounts are happy accounts. 1.5 million active accounts and they think thier game is solid.
I see no reason to keep paying for a game and hoping it will get better in the future when most if not all MMORPGs keep your characters on thier hardware for years. I know this by experience, as I quit games and would come back and they would still have my toons as they were a year ago.
I am seriously thinking about leaving WoW aswell. I just wish I could find a decent MMORPG that was out right now that I can play till Imperator comes out. Blizzard just really hasn't got thier act together and the community has always been horrible from day one. They will get the message later this year and early next year when a ton of new games come out that are much more fun and complex then thier attept.
only reason im not playing is lack of time and i got burnt out from extreme frustration from some of the pvp issues..... oh and that rogues are like piranhas waiting to devour you lol. I'll come back sooner or later... waiting for a new expansion to start from level one with a new race/class although i still am subscribed (wife plays)
I never had a problem with content, My guild could make plenty of that with good rp.
i think we can honestly say we beat the dead horse here even deader (if that is such a word)
I'm not going to reply about the original poster except that I am currently playing WoW with a friend at work and I do like it
However, the flame comments here went way overboard. Its totally cool to disagree with someone...but don't attack their character for it. Calling someone a dumbass and also saying a dog is smarter than them is attacking their person and it's not tolerated here.
I humbly apologize for not catching this earlier and as a MOD I am sorry for not catching sooner.
Anyways, Im locking this post because of the flames (and simply because its almost 10 pages of the same rhetoric).
Please....if any post offends you or if it seems like it's going against the rules here please report it (even if it's someone mindlessly bashing a game or someone mindlessly bashing someone who is mindlessly bashing a game).
