The Elite Eight in our MMO Face-Off of 2014 have been selected, and so we're nearing the finals of this year's contest. Will WoW manage to topple Tolkien? Will The Secret World dethrone Guild Wars 2? Read on and make your vote.

    Sad to see Dungeons and Dragons Online in this group.  How it beat the original Guild Wars is beyond all common understanding to me. Not saying DD was a bad game but I can't put it in the same class as GW.

    Since it's just a popularity contest, I'm a bit surprised that 2 of my main games are still here (and 2 from the 2nd-3rd line games I play sometimes are here too). Even better (though it's pure luck), they are not up against each other, so this round is the easiest so far to me, all 4 brackets have a game I like (or at least play), against a game I wouldn't even poke with a 10ft pole :)




    And if surprises, I think this round will be the one where all of my games will fall out against the crappier but more popular games... so I'd be surprised if any of them would survive this round :)

    Considering that it will most likely be going up against Eve Online next round, I'd say there's plenty of doubt.

    Sometimes people may vote against wow just because they don't want to see it win.  Sadly there are people out there who think this way.

    Gw2 Vs Wow --- Wow should win. The impact this should have on each and every one of your precious lives shall be felt throughout all of the land. Consider this though .... Let's say Gw2 or ESO beats Wow - your life has officially changed forever!

    Personally, I think DDO is ever so slightly more of an actual MMO than GW1. Guild Wars was great but it was very locked behind story progression with a lot of phasing. It never quite felt like a "real" MMO. They both employ heavy instancing but DDO feels more like a world rather than a story.

    I always preferred DDO over the original GW. It had some really fun adventures, with interesting puzzles and traps. You also had to work as a team, with roles you generally don't find in other MMO's (mainly someone to take care of the traps beyond the classic holy trinity).

    My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

    I wouldn't be too surprised in EVE actually wins. There is a very large amount of anti-WoW people that frequent this website. (me included) Sadly for me I didn't' particularly enjoy either games when I gave them a shot and because of that lack of interest I really don't know which is better or worse.

    I only voted in VS matches when I knew both games.  But that is just me.

    TSW is very fun game, in terms of MMO too. it is very underrated usually, tho

    I have a feeling that ESO is going to win the Newcomer section in the end, and WoW in the Veteran section.

    There should be a Newcomer vs. Veteran Face-Off!

    So, is ESO really doing better now? Last time i played it was in beta and while it looked okay, i was afraid it won't last.

    ESO is awesome, and the devs are doing a great work on the updates and listening to the comunity. ESO will win the newcomers!!!

    And I hope EVE win the veterans for the old times... But WoW is a great MMO too...

    wtf?? tsw had 51.9% and gw2 had 48.9% in just 2min later it went vise versa, now gw2 has 51.9% and tsw is 48.9% what the ?? in just 2min the result got up side down exactly the same in favor of gw2, whats going on here??

    When it comes to content creativity and features I'd say DD is more advanced than GW2 especially considering how long it's taking Arenanet to actually make their game modern in features. I mean how long should people wait really it's going on 3 years now.

    Some fanboy prolly posted in their forums and tried to garner extra votes. Many people actually do have multiple mmorpg accounts so that they can continue posting in forums I wouldn't put it past them to use those to make extra votes especially considering the crappy update schedule GW2 has had these many years which apologists love to make excuses for all over the web.

    Or TSW ''fanbois'' had multiple accounts from the start, preparing to multi-vote to win cause it makes no sense that TSW would win, huh?

    So last time it was MMORPG staff who faked the votes so GW2 would win vs Final Fantasy and now GW2 ''fanbois'' are using sneaky tricks to win. Mature up.

    Actually TSW losing from GW2 is the bigger wtf. TSW is SO much better than GW2
