Good for them.  I wish more developers would purge people who obviously need to move along but can't bring themselves to do it without a swift kick in their pants.

If you aren't aware of the hostility that your complaints exemplify, then (in all seriousness) you should contact a psychiatrist for evaluation.  Be sure to provide them the same example that you've provided us.  If you truly don't want to be "forum troll" [tm], then you need an objective opinion on your behavior.  You're not going to get that objectivity in this forum or SotA's.   See a specialist.  Most workplaces offer free "well being" sessions.  Check with your Human Resources representative if you do not know about your employer's offerings.

You don't decide what is worth a ban, they do. Read their rules, if you don't agree with em you don't have to stay there, if you stay and break em don't cry if you get banned.

Just because it's not an insult to you, doesn't mean it isn't for anyone, personally there is absolutely nothing you could say to me that would even bother me, doesn't mean I give myself the right to insult others because you never know how they would take it.

I'm not surprised.  Garriot speaks of this game like it's the best thing to happen to mmorpg.  I played it.  I don't think it's worth putting money into. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Since the rule for that word was described by developers i havent used it once.

This was a ban reason made up to get less critic towards the game, nothing else.

yes, but (and I'm not taking someone's side on this specific game when I say) fanbois, regardless of the negative connotation are exactly the same "animal in different clothing" as their antithesis (presumedly this op) but they're allowed their full uncensored say, regardless of depth, or often even truth. This is what you get when you censor detractors and give proponents free reign, people who feel disenfranchised and spread their words to other forums.

 

I have no idea if op is even telling the truth, but I will say if his words were nonsense and were likely to simply pass away as unpopular ranting, easily ignored, they'd likely not have struck the nerve they did. So, I think there's some real issue here, even if it isn't the surface level of censorship.

Sometimes "truth" is subjective. 

I don't think the issue here is that one side is "bad" and therefore gets banned whereas the other side is "good" and gets to say what they want with impunity. 

I do think the issue here is "one individual is aggressive and insulting".

to that end, one could feasibly be the definition of what one person would think is "carebear" or "fanbois" but not be insulting to anyone. But one could also feasibly be that same definition and be just as insulting.

It's all in the verbiage that is being used.

I'm looking through B@DAragon's posts (and I'm going under the assumption that it is the same person as this OP - could be wrong but this OP and B@D Aragon's posts feel very similiar, besides specific words being used) and though there is valid opinion there (whether it's right or wrong) they also seem to be aggressive and dissimissive.

I would bet good money that any person who shares the opposite opinion but used the same argumentative tack, would also be banned.

SotA devs have been censoring all critical comments on steam and it needs to stop.

I would also agree with those points though in truth I haven't used the card system. I'm not sure what level that would happen.

I did get a message at the start to use the "card" system or "not" and I haven't had any problems as I don't use it (yet?).

Otherwise I've seen the card system from videos and I agree, it's a change "just to have change". Not one part of it looks appealing. I also agree that if they can financially swing it (if that is even a concern) they should allow different rulesets.

but "yeah" this person's posts are aggressive and clearly not designed to be criticism but unless it's "back handed criticism".

The OP is completely justified to bring forth this discussion simply because of the fact that CENSORSHIP prevents him from doing so through the official channels.

You may disagree with the OP but the fact remains that the SotA folks do not take well to differing opinions.

Oh sure, I could list things that need work (isn't this a pre-alpha anyway?) and will probably get work. Though I still imagine one will have to play this game knowing it's an "indy game" (fine with me).

However, I strongly suspect that if you have to point out the above highlighted bit then I bet there are other "niceties" in your lexicon of criticism.

Many players seem not to know how to actually criticize something and instead their criticisms devolve into rants and attacks. 

@OP: your issue is not restraining from using the word "carebear" but not restraining the attitude that is behind it.

Now, if every criticism on their forum is banned then "sure" you might have a point. But if there are negatives and negatives put in a constructive way then maybe the problem really is you?

They didnt gave a example whatsoever and i had as i wrote adapted to the rules.

This is developers banning cause they dont like what you write.

No that isn't my argument. My argument is anything that is hostile is "hostile".

One can argue a point and not be hostile. One can proclaim a game to be full of mistakes and not be hostile.

Name calling is hostile. You might not have any problem with it but that's not the issue. You are not the decider. And if you want to participate then you have to either agree to the rules (whether you like them or not) and play nice or take your toys and go elsewhere.

Telling people they are amateurs isn't going to get you anywhere. Maybe saying that you ": don't feel they have enough experience and therefore you are concerned about the results" might just feel a tad less "attacking". Obviously one can pick words that feel more genuine to the speaker but still not be "hostile".

People dont' like to get attacked. I also find that people are much more open to criticism when the critic is understanding of where they are coming from but offers ideas that might lead to better results in a way that is conversational and not construed as ranting.

And maybe it's you that needs to grow the thicker skin? I mean this is obviously offensive to you and yet your argument comes across as highly defensive and derogatory.

Look at your above post, you immediately construe any idea not congrent to the devs as an insult when it doesn't have to be.

It's more about being able to have discussions without having to be subjected to the deranged ravings of lunatics or the abuse from people with personality disorders or those who think decency doesn't apply once the communication is digital.

 

Every single internet forum has standards--some obviously lower than others, but they're all private places where the host gets to decide what the standards are. You come to my house and you can smoke and I'll grab you an ashtray... but what makes you think you can go to all houses and light one up?
