Some might say that 3 years is too long to wait for an Eastern bred MMORPG to come to the West. In the case of Blade & Soul, it seems like the long detour to an English client has only created more pent up demand for the Wuxia-themed game from NCSOFT and Team Bloodlust. And we’re happy to announce that Blade and Soul is indeed launching as a F2P MMORPG in the US and EU this winter, with a closed beta to begin this fall. The wait, as it were, is almost over.

Wow, was really NOT expecting this.
Thank god, I can't stand playing on the RU server

Based on your experience, how was it? Worth it or not? Was it grindy?

I do like the fact that your visual armor doesn't affect your stats, immediately reminded me of Chronicles of Spellborn, I always like going around in the most unusual armor.
There was a minor error I believe i spotted: The eight classes 1) Assasssin, 2) Blademaster, 3) Force Master, 4) Summoner, 5) Kung Fu Master, 6) Destroyer.
Maybe someone more familiar with the game can tell if it's supposed to be 6 classes or if we are missing two from the list here?
Wuxia themed? The last two games i remember playing from that era were Age of Wushu/Wulin and Monster and Me (yes I played this, Yes i still want to play this but it got closed down from what I saw, oh well) both had some kind of alignment system, I'm really hoping this does as well. Course the faction system might cover that aspect as it was deemed red and blue by it's color.
I'll be keeping an eye on this title.
Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.
Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.
Wuxia is cool, themepark not that much.
I guess I'll keep an eye on this, just because Wuxia is cool.

M8, you might want to learn to read. I love Wuxia, I get bored of themepark MMOs very fast (regardless of style).
City of Heroes did the same thing.
Well, technically it wasn't armor - it was all costumes.

The questing is like all questing - kill this, gather this, save this .. but the combat is so fluid and so intense that the nonsense in the quests isn't as problematic as it would be if it was tab targeting.
There are solo instances, a lot of solo instances, as well as many group instances - which are very much like Vindictus / Tera .. but still very enjoyable especially at higher levels.
The main shine in this game that I found, was the PvP. I will mainly be playing this game for that, it is so obnoxious and satisfying that you really can do it for hours.
Classes are race locked, and some races are female only ( yay .... )
I will say this - there will most likely be P2W aspects, as you are able to enchant weapons, and socket weapons .., so most likely some sort of cash grab to be able to do it easier or without fail.
But yeah, good game - I will def be playing it, less lag - more people .. maybe the stories good, wouldn't know since its just a giant Google Translate script... its a combat game, it thrives on the beauty of combat and graphics.

Played on that Russian server as well. BnS is pretty mediocre in my experience. Story is well done though (even for such a bad translation). And yes, there's a grind too, both for XP and tokens. In general I did have fun for the 3 weeks I played on the server until my attention was caught by something else ;-)

Nooooo waaaaay, I was just thinking about Blade and Soul a few days ago, wishing the devs would finnally launch it in the West.
Played the Russian version a few months ago and it was amazingly fun. The story is cool (there's even an anime on it these days!), and the combat is by far the best I have seen so far in an MMO, including GW2, TERA, Wildstar, ESO.
Lets forget the fact that they left fans hanging without a single word or explanation for YEARS.
Lets forget the fact that Korean MMOs that are F2P are P2W, immersion breaking, and neglected by their developers when launched on the West.
This game is TOO late. Unless they rework this game to operate as an open world PVP sandpark like Archeage (minus the various crap decision Trion has made) this game will be another FLOP that has to be carried by GW2 financial success.
I'm pretty sure everybody can expect:
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
