You should read the article: Beta this Fall, launch this Winter. :P
It’s been so long since we heard from Blade & Soul that people might not realize it’s gained 10s of millions of players across South Korea, China, Taiwan, and Japan since its initial launch in mid-2012.
I played RUS. Its a great game. I would have kept playing but I am a completionist and not being able to understand much of the game in RUS compelled me to stop. I will definitely be playing when it comes the the US. Most of the people that I know that are talking bad about B&S are simply people that can not stand PvE questing or eastern style MMOs, both of which I have no problem with. As a matter of fact, I prefer eastern graphic designers. They are far superior to western graphic designers by far. And the questing is actually better than Tera's, which is not saying much but if TERA is already doing well in the west, then it goes without saying that another game of the same ilk but with even better graphics, questing, and most importantly combat mechanics, will be a hit in the US. It will, no doubt, be one of the better MMORPG's when it hits the western shores. That is a guarantee. Can't wait.
lmao only took so many years even people grew out of it already, but hopefully we will see some players come back to its hype and play it NA/EU finally no devastating high ping, combat should be really fast now
Lets forget the fact that they left fans hanging without a single word or explanation for YEARS.
Lets forget the fact that Korean MMOs that are F2P are P2W, immersion breaking, and neglected by their developers when launched on the West.
This game is TOO late. Unless they rework this game to operate as an open world PVP sandpark like Archeage (minus the various crap decision Trion has made) this game will be another FLOP that has to be carried by GW2 financial success.
I'm pretty sure everybody can expect:
Bad/unfinished translations
Being WAY behind the Korean release
NO support from original developers
Incompetence and ineptitude from Team Bloodlust
Cash grabbery
Layered P2W model
NCSoft and Team Bloodlust can piss off.
I'll have to disagree with you.
It's a different type of game that offers very specific game play. It doesn't have to be an open world game. There is plenty or room for a good theme park game and plenty of people who like them and who will play it.
Heck, I prefer open world games and I'll play it.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

Probably the reason there are so few highly successful sandbox games. :P

Only EVE and that one is not hugely successful. I am all for the idea of Sandbox games but until they start being made by real companies like NC Soft, Blizzard and Square I will wait.

That's because the ones that do exist have some form of OWPvP, which oddly enough is what that prior poster is endorsing. As we all aware, those have not fared very well, and soon after one of these so-called OWPvP sandbox games release they become desert towns and fail. Predictably, there is always an excuse by these OWPvP advocates as to why it failed, but its never because it is OWPvP. Its always something else. It has yet to be determined how successful a true PvE sandox would be since we have nothing of the sort on the market at this time.

Some of the upcoming ones have at least already expressed the desire to make PvE servers. I know the Repopulation plans on doing it for example. Of course with Indies it'll take ages to even get a remotely playable product.
UO also gained in popularity after they split the world into two shards (PvE and PvP).

I've tried both the RU and Chinese version of B&S, and the one thing I can say about it is that the combat is fun, but not enough to keep you interested for more than a couple play sessions without understanding the story. It's a good thing that they are doing voice overs in the actual language of each region because I wouldn't even have bothered playing it if they had gone with that old tired excuse, "We are releasing the game with the original Chinese/Japanese voice-overs with added subtitles to make it feel as Asian-themed as possible."
I have legit seen that excuse for quite a few MMOs lol
Based on your experience, how was it? Worth it or not? Was it grindy?
I played the CN version for awhile. The story and cutscenes are great but the game itself, not so much. Game world is heavily zoned / instanced. Not having any sort of trinity makes group play a dps beatdown.
But the game is free to play so knock yourself out and try it, but i'm gonna pass on it when it comes to the us.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

I don't expect it'll be a great success. But it should earn NCSoft a tidy profit nonetheless, especially right around the launch.
After that I imagine it'll have its own playerbase just like TERA, Aion, ArcheAge and tons of other titles that are still profitable for their publishers.
Being moderately successful isn't such a bad deal after all. Which is something I think most MMOs have come to terms with nowadays.

I will try anything once, and maybe twice if I'm in the mood. I love martial arts themed games, but sadly I never played a good one. Everyone I ever tried had some major flaw I couldn't get passed.
Should have put this through instead of Wildstar....
I've played it and it has a lot of really great things going for it if you like themeparks.
+Graphics and art style are still great, especially for anime games. There aren't many attractive ones in the west.
+Combat is fun as hell
+PvP is great too, although the systems are very strange. The PvP is very optional, so hardcore open-PvP fans won't like it. BUT certain hardcore PvP players will love the 1 on 1 arena.
+Not too grindy, I'd assume much less so if you pay $.
+Dungeons are the best I have played in a themepark.
+Badass story/cutscenes
+No Mounts, instead you run, jump and glide!
-limited activities to do if you don't enjoy kicking butt
-unrealistic armor (plus for me) but I know some people despise it.
-sexualized characters (male and female), again plus for me but others despise it.
-quest-guided linear leveling.
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

1. While it's entirely possible that NC will renege on their earlier remarks about not censoring B&S for Western release (the trailer indicates they expect an M rating, & far as I know there's nothing in the original game to warrant anything higher), it will be possible to revert any censors to models by substituting texture files, as some players on the Chinese version of the game have done.
2. NA will release dubbed into English; EU, English, French & German. Again, you could probably get hold of the voice files from the Japanese client and Frankenstein those into your install as people have done with Tera (which has the same underlying game engine). I believe a number of proper names including some major NPCs were changed in the Japanese release. The possibility of having "the original [Korean] / other region voices" available as an option in the NA / EU release was mentioned as "something we're looking into" on the official twitter feed.
Originally posted by Rhoklaw ArcheAge wasn't enough salt in their crusty old wound, so now they want to add more by releasing another game with the exact same failed setup? Koreans are definitely masochists, or maybe I should say certain American publishers are masochists. Who knows.
Firstly, don't compare Trion's new F2P models to NCSoft who is normally, very fair. Secondly, Blade and Soul is less grindy in all respects to Archeage, so there will less advantage to those who pay then Archeage. HOW much less, is still to be determined, but Archeage is pure PvP basically so becoming p2w was the nail in the coffin there.
