2 millions sure is nice, but the goal of a MMORPG is to keep peoples. 2 millions bought the game but how many are/will still playing the game 3 months after they bought it ? I personally know 9 peoples (family members, friends, job friends) who bought this game at release just like me, from these 9 peoples i think only 1 still play and that's because this guy is an avid PVP player member of a huge org. All the other have left within 3 months due to boredom.
Yes WOW is a fantastic game, but once you reached 60, unless you want to pvp all day long, there is nothing left to do.
Yeah, WoW pretty much beats EQ2 in most aspects. I realy liked EQ2 combat style, it had a unique touch, but the game failed on so many other things, navigation, questing, zones to name the few. Its weird though, I still like EQ2, and i would play that for a month if it was cheaper and i had free time, but with work i hardly have any time to play one game
Anyway, it seems that WoW is doing great, despite all the negative from players who hate it or do not understand it. And thats normal, nothing is perfect in this world, someone will always hate something that other someone loves. I only wish people would share their experiences and opinions with respect towards other people's opinions. After all, noone wants a hunrdred of "you" running around, eh?

You guys keep saying ......"yeah wow is the best in sales". Are you kidding me? The next popular line is "once you hit 60, its boring as hell and no one will be playing". Do you guys honestly think out of the 2 million or so people who still actively hold a subscription(not counting china in the 2 million), that next to none of them have hit 60?
Were talking 7-8 months now guys, most of you who have bad things to say ....say it gets old after 2 months. Just face it, a majority prefer wow to most other mmorpgs. As far as Eq2...its good, I prefer wow though. In fact my whole guild dumped EQ2 and went to WOW. Ive also talked to lifer eq fanboys who actually went back to EQ because they didnt like EQ2.
Wow like any other game can use improvements. And yes it wont be for everyone but for now it is the KING!

One thing WoW did was bring MMORPGs into the mainstream a bit more than the genre was previously. I have quite a few friends that play WoW and it is their first MMO.
So I applaud Blizzard for making a solid experience for people new to the genre. Granted a lot of more experienced people enjoy WoW as well. But 2 million players means a huge influx in new players for MMOs in general.
This can only be a good thing. More people playing MMOs means more companies interested in making them...and eventually leading to truly revolutionary new MMOs in the future.
For me WoW was a fun time for a few months until it became clear it was just more of the same...done well mind you, but still the same old same old. WoW just did it right for the times and is greatly needed fuel for an otherwise lacking genre.
