And if for some reason someone is dumb enough to buy a pig in a poke and then get outraged they've been ripped off, they have only themselves to blame.
I have to seriously question the intelligence of bored impulse control gamers who continue to fall for this sort of garbage.
Agree with the first part, but I want to point out that anyone who has ever purchased an early access title (myself included), no matter how good the value, has contributed to this nonsense. We are demonstrating very clearly with our wallets that we are willing to pay them for inferior products that may never even get released.
This is a key element everyone is missing. Not only does it happen, but it is happening even more often that "early access games," never get out of early access, and in fact in some cases close down completely (see: Moonrise, Stomping Land, etc). We are cultivating an environment where developers can release a completely bare bones game, literally the absolute bare minimum for what qualifies as a game, and charge us for the honor of "testing it," and "getting in before everyone else," to.... run around an empty world?
And in the case of Trion, they are literally taking a game someone else made - a game evidently so bad it is already shut down in the country it was designed to appeal to - and at very little cost to themselves (other than their already horrible reputation) turning a profit on it here with insanely overpriced founders packs.
Yes, it is ultimately every single person's decision if they spend the money or not. However, when those of us who see the lack of professionalism and ethics coming from these companies choose to remain silent, they will take that as a go ahead to continue with their shady business practices.

It is always nice to have kind players to warn others about scamming attempts. Someone has to protect the innocent. They are heroes!
Uhhhmmn, what scamming attempt? What part of the deal exactly would you qualify as scamming? No really, do tell. And yes, we need to warn people, those stupid, stupid people that do not know what to do with their own money..... /sarcasm off
All of it is a scam. ALL OF IT! I just got used to get scammed out of my money, so i might not see it sometimes, because it's a small amount. That's how scams work. There are currently no rules on how much money a company can charge, that's why you see ridiculous prices like in this game. Star Citizen is a more colorful example of a scamming company. They will sell you a second-hand products for a 3-4 times the price. It's horrible. You got to always watch out.
If i look back at my last 10 years of MMO games, i can honestly say i got scammed out of at least a couple of thousands dollars. I was an idiot back then, and i feel like i still am an idiot, a REAL BAKA!
You want the government to set prices on what businesses can charge? To me that's ludicrous. It would be like the government setting wage caps on what businesses can pay certain workers.
This isn't a scam. It doesn't sound like you understand the meaning of the word. A scam is a wrongful or criminal deception for personal or financial gain. The terms of the agreement are up front. There is nothing wrongful about the transaction unless they don't deliver what they promise.
I think you're confusing the word scam or fraud with expensive or unaffordable.
I want a time machine, so i can go back in time and fix my mistakes!
Realizing that your emotional attachment (OMG! it's a Founder Pack!) does not match your financial commitment ( it costs too much) is a good thing. It means you are learning, although reluctantly, to be a good consumer.
I would love to buy a flat crank 2016 Ford Mustang GT350 but my wallet says I might be able to afford something a tenth of it's price.
Yeah, after a good look at the ol bank account that third hand 1982 Yugo is starting to look pretty appealing.
Nah, with a little looking around and patience I can get a 15 year old Buick with 60,000 miles on it for less than $5,000.
Real life: I met someone who worked for the company that made the front suspension for Yugos. Their quality assurance was to attach the front suspension to a Yugo and drive it around the block. If it made it back the suspension passed QA.

Yeah this Trion hate is beyond excessive. Look at the industry right now, You have blizzard charging $60 for an expansion that was the worst expansion ever released plus a sub fee. You have SOE/Daybreak basically going under because they give up on their best games, F2P that could be considered "non-lucrative" and also early-access games. You have a bunch of small indie-studios not doing much of anything.
Trion is at least moving along and bringing us finished games that are worth playing. FFXIV's heavensward was a nice expansion, but it will begin to follow the WoW path from this point, trust me. NCSoft and Trion are doing the best things for MMOs in general right now.
ROFL daybreak going under, moving to a bigger building they own, upgrading forgelight to dx11/12 and continued development in eqn is going under then you sir need your own dictionary....
It seems to me that is becoming a trend to bring dead mmos to the west with the purpose of making one final cash grab attempt before closing down the games for good. Right now there are 2 mmos that i know are coming to the west while shutting down in their own region, Devilian online, and Asta online.
Im really inclined to believe we are taken for the fools paying for leftovers before we lose them too.
I say stop supporting this nonsense.
I'm still waiting for arche age to die off what people keeps saying on this forums months ago. Just we don't know if the game going die off when hits NA. Gamers are picky so we'll never know how a game will do here until hits here and see what they do with the game. Even if some believe they going be a big mess as they have right to due so as they was not so happy in what happen with arche age if they played it pass level 10.
Trion has proposed a lot of changes to XLGames regarding AA, most notable is to go easy on RNG, XLGames is never going to remove the abysmal RNG because then players will not have that carrot on a stick but they agreed to go easy on it. And i found some translated info that XLGames have sent the exact same change to players as a survey to see if they will like it. Don't think AA is going away anytime soon.
Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.

So when will we see eqnext?:)
Maybe they can resurrect it as a MOBA, or even better, an online TCG. Because as much as it pains me to say, it is looking pretty dead right now...

Hahaha! 50 bucks for that? And this little gem, "anticipated to be rated MATURE"
Jesus Christ, what a joke.
Clearly someone needs to put some close on those Corgis when they "Westernize" it so they can get the rating down to teen? Why does the rating matter to you?
Looks better than D3 and I paid $60 for D3. Granted that's the worst $60 I can remember spending in gaming. Sure I can't see myself buying a founders pack but I'll try it when it's free.
Why do some folks think that for how much businesses decide to sell their product is any of their business?
Because it sets an industry standard in an industry they care about? You can't argue this is not true, the dramatic increase in the price of founder's packs, pre-orders, etc is very, very obvious. People are just as free to express their disgust in this practice as companies are to engage in it, so it is pretty hypocritical to suggest that we need to just leave them be - especially when their profits are driven DIRECTLY by people like us, whereas our opinions don't rely on them at all.
Expressing an opinion is one thing - however this will be a F2P game.
why just not wait and you know play without spending any cash upfront?
And not paying is the best and really only effective form of expressing your opinion. There could be millions of people complaining about this, but if millions also still pay money for it. Why would a company change there habbits? Companies are just like babies.
If they know something works, then they use it. Once they realise it does not work anymore, they stop using it. And really who can blame them for something like that?
Founders pack are very expensive. But you know what, a lot of you are talking bulkshit. Games in the past will never invite random people like me and you for alpha testing. So if you really want to alpha test a game you have to pay a lot. Before you had no choice, you just didn't play games in alpha. Now you either don't play alpha ( like before) or you pay tons of money.
For beta you would also be very unlikely to be invited but it did happen. Now you can guarantee yourself a beta spot and founders pack for beta access are fairly cheap.
Bottom line is don't buy it to alpha test a game, why the hell would you want to play a game in alpha anyway, it simply will ruin your experience. You will be able to play the game for free when it launches.
I am honestly surprised that trion picks up random crap from Asia considering their own games are much much higher quality. Rift is one of the best mmorpgs available on the market actually with lots of stuff to do and awesome features.
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
When you are told the price upfront and exactly what you are getting - what is the problem?
Are companies not allowed to make a simple sale - because that's what this is - a product with a price - if you don't want it, don't buy it.
Too expensive for you - don't buy it.
Common sense.
Why do some folks think that for how much businesses decide to sell their product is any of their business?
If star citizen sells multi 1000 dollar ships - its their business. When game companies sell founder packs - again their business.
buy or don't buy, it ends there.
And it is our right to complain about it and post our complaint and try and discourage others from falling for it as well. I still say video game publishers are the exact same thing as crack dealers. FACT that video games are designed to affect the brain same way narcotics do. Gamers are addicts, most of us are addicted to those endorphins and buying more and more on cash shops, more and more new games, it is all addictive behavior and what is worse is the game publishers know it, and use it.
Talk for yourself. I have no desire to pay $150 for a founders pack. I have never spend more on a f2p game than what I would've spent on a paid game. For a lot of f2p games I didn't pay anything, I usually sub if there is an option to do so or buy expansions etc.
it really feels like some of you want to play this game now but are butt hurt you can't.
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
trion should stop licensing shit form korea and start making more original ips like they do now.
Other than the fact that it's only like 1,000 times easier to hire a few translators and translate some text in a game someone else already made than build your own from scratch.
I think the fact that they're importing more games from Korea indicates they made out quite well on AA.
I don't think it's a scam. But I think it's simply not worth it. 150$ for a game that is not finished. And maybe that game will be crappy. You don't know yet. And even if that game will be good, is it 150$ good? And those 150$ will only be the start. The more you invest, the more you think "I already paid so much for this game, now I can also buy that little convenience item" or whatnot.
i urge everyone to not to buy it, a path engine game usually doesnt end well
Honestly, I want people to buy it so they come on here and QQ about it then I laugh at them. People shouldn't need to be told that paid betas are ALWAYS stupid.
Hahaha! 50 bucks for that? And this little gem, "anticipated to be rated MATURE"

It's not the rating itself, it's the marketing behind it. Reminds me of those cheap browser mmo's that advertise their games as being for "adults only". I thought it was kind of cute, Trion's becoming another Kongregate of sorts. Makes me excited to see what kind of shenannigans they'll get up to next!

Yes because you are so frugal means that this trend of selling founder's packs for increasingly massive premiums doesn't exist. We can all go home now, guys. Some random guy on the internet is too clever to fall for it. Show's over.
How about YOU speak for YOURSELF? Clearly companies keep doing this so there are more numbskulls that spend money on these things than there are people who are careful with their money. Otherwise this wouldn't be an issue, now would it?
And for the record, this looks like a poor chintzy knock off of something like inspirit and ToS. I would not waste time on it were I able to play it tomorrow.
