"Chris Roberts is certainly surrounded by competent people, and his own
brother Erin is a game producer with a lot of experience, but many
accounts indicate he gets too involved in the title's details even
though he hasn't produced anything in a decade. Something that will
reassure no one : remember that Chris Roberts' last game production
(Freelancer), the deal turned to a fiasco because of the excessive
ambition. After years of delay, Microsoft got impatient and bought the
studio nearing bankruptcy (Digital Anvil, 2000), sold what was being
worked on, fired Roberts while keeping him as a consultant and finalized
Freelancer by cutting swiftly in the unrealistic promises it had made."
@Erillion surprised you brought this up, doesn't put SC and CR in the best of light and also same for DS. Interesting read.
@Brenics : Link to English translation please. Its a long article. Addendum: Ah, found your source : http://pastebin.com/9YffVPHG (via The Smarty, who else ;-)

So is Brenics wrong then or is the English translation say that and you are avoiding talkin about it now?
So is Brenics wrong then or is the English translation say that and you are avoiding talkin about it now?
How about ... everyone interested reads it (in French or English) and forms their own opinion ?
There is nothing really NEW in the article. Just a recap of the project since 2012, talking about the same things and persons many other articles also talked about in their own style.
What is unique and funny IMHO is the cover art for that article.

At the time of my last posting I didn't have the english version since the pastebin wasn't working. I'm fine with everyone forming their own opinion and after reading it I will agree with @Brenics that it is an interesting read.
I'm surprised no one has popped into the thread yet to claim that this was all a conspiracy of DS and that he was probably the anonymous sources for the magazine.
Everything in that article is public knowledge. As i said, its just describing the events of the last 3 years, from the personal perspective of the author.

Yup just funny the negative spin they put on it. Most gaming mags here will only hint at a bad side
Can someone give me some info here i was going to buy the game but so much info to sift through is this playable now or are there only partial mini games within to play ? If this is a open mmorpg sandbox working now i am all in ! What would i have to do / buy to get involved ?

Throw down something like 30 bucks to access the cheapest package. Its playable in the sense that you can boot up the game and play a few things but this is not a complete game.
The next part is my bias towards the game so take it with a grain of salt.
If I were you I would hold off until the game has officially released and this thing is complete. What SC has done so far is put the cash shop before the game and I can see it staying that way until they pull the plug.

Choosing a Starter Ship - A Beginners Guide (made by a fan)
For those interested in reading SC news from various sources (including gaming press), there is a link collection called "Deep Space Radar - Links from the Verse" which i like to check out once in a while.
"300 years in the future, a forensic accountant reviews the video stream
from a mercenary's drop-pod which has been damaged during the initial
stages of a colonial invasion."
LOL is this going to be a video game or a movie? Why push a movie instead of giving us real community game play. Just saying!
I'd say it's perfectly normal for any game developer to highlight the activities of the game's community. It shows that there's a healthy and active fan base, which is good news for the eventual launch of the game.
An active community also means there will be a wealth of material produced to explore every facet of the game in detail. A good fansite for an MMO can be worth a lot more than the official documentation and FAQ's.

You do know a lot of those really good fan sites that have a bunch of information on the game normally is run by developers who work on the game or the company itself. It helps to bring hype to the game and all the data is already there for them to put up for the players. Just saying!

Man I wish I had stock in a tin foil manufacturing company cause you must go through...like...a lot of that stuff every month making your tin foil hats.
My favorite sentence from the interview: "...it will increase my credibility with my sons. Finally i will be a cool mom - i will be seen in a video game ...." :-) Naaah, X-Files, who cares about X-Files ? ... Mom is in a game ! Yeah! Go Mom !
Looks like she will be playing the daughter of Admiral Bishop (Gary
Oldman) and be one of the reasons for the declaration of war against the
Vanduul.
"Bishop, a very well-known and -liked admiral of the UEE—think of him
like Maximus from Gladiator—won a battle [with the enemy Vanduul] at
great personal loss; his daughter commanded one of the other ships in
the fleet, and she sacrifices herself to save Bishop's ship. That's one
of the reasons why Bishop is haunted.
You start out in the military earning citizenship, and you get your
wish to become a fighter pilot. While you're training, Admiral Bishop
and the [UEE] task force go off into Vanduul space and take the fight to
them. As you come out to deploy, the news comes through that they've
lost contact with the task force. Bishop goes missing, and the rest of
the game is you trying to find him.
You go behind enemy lines, trying to find out where Bishop is, and
you see things that have happened along the way that gives you [a
reaction] like, Has he lost his mind? What's happening? It's sort of the
Ninth Legion mixed with Heart of Darkness.
So you get behind enemy lines, and you find out there's a Vanduul
plan to shortcut past the Earth's defenses, and you have to stop it.
At the end of it there's this big last stand, and you get back to
human space. But Bishop is still left, behind the Vanduul side, kind of
like Commander Cain on the Pegasus in [classic] Battlestar Galactica.
You come back a bit of a war hero, and you muster out, and potentially
Bishop's still out there fighting the battle behind enemy lines."
In depth interview with Gillian Anderson on Squadron 42.
Those two people aren't in the same room together. Also, the interviewer is a horrible actress.
See when she is going you're fired how she looks right into the camera. That right there shows she is bad at acting. Hell I knew that back in high school. I could go on and say how she wasn't really living the part, it was like she was having issues with how to really act there.
