It is likely that a small portion of Star Citizen crowdfunding went indirectly into funding Revival. CIG hired Illfonic to work on Star Marine. Illfonic use money from their other projects to fund Revival.
I believe without Star Citizen none of this would exist.

If they used the profit from the Star Citizen contract to fund their own game .. more power to them.
One of the guys flat out asked: "But what if you are wrong and he can make the game he promised on a much smaller budget?" and "Even if not what's the downside? I never funded the game and so I don't lose anything if he fails. Also the backers at most lose $60 and that's basically no money at all".
I don't know much about this game, but I do know people have dumped much more than $60 into it. A million backers at $60 doesn't add up to 90 million. People have bought ships for hundreds or even thousands of dollars. I know that's not every backer, but still, to think that every backer has only pledged a minimum amount is laughable.
I thought it was a given that Star citizen is being planned for a 2017 release day and that it's being created with constant funding as a given.
By 2017 this game would of made 150million+ easy
How can there ever be any definitive launch date,it changes every time he thinks of some new funding goal to keep the money coming in without ever having to finish a game.
I still remember the original pitches for crowd funding claims were made of no middle man/publisher and numbers were bantered around that funds would basically be doubled going this route. That would make 90 million worth 180 million by old standards.Does anyone really think this will be a 180 million dollar project?
Also remember that 180 million would be if this game launches tomorrow lol,at the rate it is going they are pulling in too much money to just stop now.By time this game finally launches it will be the most expensive game ever made likely over 200 million"worth" and i highly doubt anyone is naive enough to think this will release as anything more than maybe a 30-40 million dollar game.Point is there is a lot of money going to god knows where....CR pocket i imagine.

Last stretch goal was added one year ago. And it was something (=pets) that already existed in the CryEngine and would add minimal additional work. CIG then STOPPED adding stretch goals AGAINST the wishes of the backers, who voted to continue adding stretch goals (for the second time in a row).
So what "new funding goal" are you speaking about ?
Point is there is a lot of money going to god knows where....CR pocket i imagine.

Plus with all the people giving money they will get to play the game for free so how will he make money once that happens. Only thing that makes sense is he needs to keep having the cash come and never launch a game. Just little pieces that make it look like there may be a game in the future.
Is @Erillion a paid representative of CIG? Genuine question, because otherwise I simply do not understand this behaviour. Why is he spamming every thread that mentions SC with these simplistic distractions, that rarely answer any questions?
still star citizen is a less bugged game then anything derek smart has ever released
well considering star citizen is yet to be what you'd call a game...
It could still release now and be less of a POS than anything he has released.
LOL and it would be the first game he released on his own. Just do not see that happening the way people that know him talk about him and how he can never stay on track.
*** Yawn *** same question for the last 2.5 years that a simple Google search could answer:
a) In game shop for ship skins, basic modules (weapons/shields etc.) and temporary tuning kits etc. b) Story expansions ("Mission discs") for the SQ42 solo campaign c) after b.... story expansions for non military careers ....
Seriously, I wonder if Blizzard would have had to put up with this shit during their 5+ year development cycle for World of Warcraft if they employed open development.
SC doesn't have a finished game. But all of the gameplay demos I've seen...the level of integration and complexity that has already been achieved....I see no reason to give CIG crap. But still, people are yelling the Sky is Falling. Nothing else to do, i guess.
Really, the guy would have skipped town by now if there was nothing behind the curtain. and with that much money, we'd never find him again.
Blizzard had relatively competent developers, an established project management structure, and had made a game or two in the previous 15 years.
Roberts isn't about skipping town with the money. He's not that kind of crook. He's about feeding his ever voracious ego.
A long and bumpy road....
Blizzard actually made World of Warcraft twice. They scrapped their first version and pretty much remade everything from scratch. You can see the systems, graphics and areas of the 2001 trailer are much different from the release, and there were really old interviews saying they completely redid everything and that it turned out to ultimately be the right call due to the success of the game. It's actually completely common to scrap things that don't work and try again anew... though if Star Citizen showed signs of this, they would be accused of "wasting money" as opposed to following a process of development.
That said, of course there was / is money mismanagement on a title the scale of Star Citizen. There is mismanagement of money on all titles as you come up with concepts and try to make said concepts work. Most do not. Or do not work in conjunction with other systems. Not to mention that they probably have decent meal set ups for their workers when they could cut all those costs by having them bring their own lunches (speculation, but a statement in general of money use in some gaming offices). Even writing multiple things off as tax deductible, no doubt.
Any game that tries to innovate or push the boundaries always ends up investing in failed research and moving to the next idea. It's why many games stick with known, proven formulas. In addition, most people don't understand the development process as a whole, which just adds to stress that usually isn't worth it as the same people are typically closed minded and usually want the same despite what they say. To many, change is scary even if they scream that they want it. The MMO space in particular is guilty of this.
Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing). German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century. Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now). I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things). In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while. If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.
Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this. If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own. Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis. Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

Also if I was Roberts I actually would make a few posts that don't hold him in a good light just so people wouldn't think it was me. After all who else has a lot to lose if everything comes crashing down.
You do realize you are the one that is keeping this going right? You are making it look like SC has a lot to hide. LOL
I am perfectly fine with people posting their OPINION in a discussion forum !
But how about posting some facts or proof to back up the regurgiated rumours presented as the one and only truth by some people speaking about the imminent doom of Star Citizen ?
Yes, SC has a lot to hide e.g. the details of the Squadron 42 solo campaign and some 100 landing zones and locations that will be added to the Persistent Universe in the future. Be patient, young padawan, be patient ! We will see them in time.

Just out of curiosity, why do you have to do that? I mean....... if the posts are "OLD rumors... the SAME rumours for the last 2.5 years......"What's the problem with ignoring it? What compels you to answer theses new posts with old information? If there is a new post of an old rumor with no evidence and it's been discussed adnauseam before, what is it that prevents you from skipping to the next one? It's almost like its your job or something.

Are you for real? Like is this a serious statement? Ok, so, first of all, once the game launches he expands his audience to people who actually haven't paid any money yet, but will once they're in the game. Secondly, there are entirely other avenues for revenue, not excluding expansion sales and, possibly, some sort of high-end membership fee. What else? Glad you asked. Even if it were to stay F2P, there is the possibility to monetize countless other in-game items. This might include: Space stations Add-on modules for ships ship decals ship paint jobs Stars (name one because you know you want to) planet housing PLANETS?!?!?
Here's the thing, it's a big, huge, massive universe that they can fill with an endless number of things that they could monetize. If you honestly think that ships are their bread and butter, I think you're being very short-sighted. They've already proven that some people will spend $30,000 on ships alone, so there's a very good possibility that those same people would spend $20,000 on a planet to call their own, or $1000 on their very own space station, or $100 on a house. Shit! How about $100,000 for a star system?!?!?!?
Sorry, but the revenue opportunities are endless if they chose to actually monetize their game more aggressively.
Right now they are actually burning more cash on a monthly basis than what they're earning, so I don't know where you think that this idea to "...keep having the cash come and never launch a game.." makes and sense at all. Honestly, if you can tell me how this makes sense, if you can tell me how their current income is somehow outweighing their monthly burn rate, then you might convince me that you're making an intelligent argument. Otherwise, how is what you're saying logical, at all?
Is @Erillion a paid representative of CIG? Genuine question, because otherwise I simply do not understand this behaviour. Why is he spamming every thread that mentions SC with these simplistic distractions, that rarely answer any questions?
The same could be said for nay sayers. Spamming every SC thread that pops up with rumors and trying to pass them of as facts or making snide comments . When asked to provide how they know, they pass it off with responses like yours. Talk about deflecting.
And no, peoples questions have been answered time and time again to the point it's getting boring now, some are just choosing to ignore them. Myself who isn't a backer and or has no investment have answered questions which i was able to find with 10 min of research.
There's been a very rare amount who have actually made good points against this games process, but they get drowned by the rest who are just riding the drama train parroting each other.

I don't deny any of that, but it is not my point. The sheer number of posts from that member is unusual. For me it has entered the realms of spam.
I am not a backer of SC, but I want to see it succeed, because if it can achieve its goals it will be a fun game. Unfortunately seeing any subject getting spammed by "backers", or one "backer" in particular is souring my taste towards it.

If you scroll down you find the average pledge per citizen plot. Its interesting that the average pledge has increased from around 60 $ to 90 $.
