step back and hold the phone..

given the history of Star Wars games and revial of things we think developers understand (John Smedley) there is every reason to only believe it when you watch reviews on it already having been completed.

if you hype on this you only have yourself to blame if it goes bad.

wait...plus an 'open world' game that has hired a 'writer'?

oh this is going to go badly

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Open world like Assassin's Creed, not like ARK. So a writer is needed, because it'll be more akin to AC than Life is Fuedal, for instance. That's good or bad depending on who you ask, but if it plays half as well as Syndicate or even better, Shadows of Mordor, I'll be happy.

I wouldn't bet too highly on this being excessively too "RPG" actually. The way its worded, it could easily end up something like Destiny, or Darksiders 2. Which, while they certainly have RPG elements, are primarily focused around other styles of gameplay primarily, which Visceral has traditionally done in the past (Dead Space, Dante's Inferno, Battlefield).

I'm more betting on something along the lines of Force Unleashed, or Shadow of Mordor than a KOTOR, or SWTOR.

"Open world" how many times i have i seen that statement made.So i guess that means we will see linear questing and yellow question marks everywhere ?

If they can actually pull off immersion and an open world game, then yes i am all for it and the team behind it does look good.Sadly i just know what to expect, seems developers should change their nameplate fro developer to auto generated games design.

We'll see, let's hope this team can get game design right,i definitely do not want to see anything remotely close to SWTOR,that is cheap game design 101.I want to walk into the game and fell an EPIC feeling like the proudest IP name in the history of man.I want to see and feel Epic battles,Invasions where all the players come together to defend a space station or village/town,yep i want EPICness.

Honest truth,if i see one yellow marker over a npc head,i will not step one foot in the game.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

given the IP, who they have hired, stated objectives  and the games you just compared it to it sounds absolutely awful

I heard it from my cousin last year, he works as a reporter for a certain online game magazine and was visiting bioware montreal office. He heard it there, that they were working on a new SW canon game. He wa asked not to talk about it until bioware or ea release any info but he told me anyways, knowing me talking about it online will not make any dent. Seems like it is visceral that is working on SW game. Well let's see how it will effect swtor now.

I like that you guys are taking the "let's be negative about it before we know anything about the game and hope to be surprised approach". I'll do the other one, and hopefully we'll meet in the middle.

'people writing' and hiring the lead author of 'Uncharted' is not exactly the same thing. That was most likely the most success interactive novel in history, its light years away from 'open world' or am I wrong?

oh and by the way...do players even know the Elder Scrolls story? I know I do my best to completely ignore as much of it as possible even though I have about 400 hours of play time in Elder Scroll games

They'd really have to screw something up for me to NOT want to play this. I love open world RPG's and Star Wars.

Well, I have about 1,200 hours in Skyrim an yet I know the story.

Additionally, Witcher 3 has a story and it's very open world, so is Dragon Age Inquisition.

Of course the Elder Scrolls games are "more" open world and one doesn't have to follow the story but one can if one chooses.
