Amazing how many great games we have played thru the years yet they started in a garage and never had to have places all over the world to work in. Now we have worse games that spend more on buildings and furniture than the games it self.
Don't forget spending millions on a FPS game mode then scrapping it completely and not only blaming the studio who were making an impressive game mode, but then tell the backers, "YOU'VE HAD IT ALL ALONG!"
It's not scrapped and we did get FPS when the mPU was deployed.

Make up more stuff, this is the perfect site to do so.
Scrapped might be too strong a word but given Chris history of running his mouth and saying things he has no way of delivering on I wouldn't be surprised if they left it in it's most basic form and shut everyone down by saying this is what we promised.

I also take issue with Chris "getting annoyed" at being asked when is star marine coming? You showed off footage and kept saying its coming, just be patient multiple times and then when you are overdue on the supposedly coming out soon SM you have the nerve to tell your backers that you are annoyed when they ask where it is? What a great way to treat the people who are funding you, by pissing all over them and not even giving them the courtesy of calling it rain.

It was said that they would have liked to release Star Marine before but priorities changed as they pushed for adding persistence. Star Marine, while cool as an idea and something different to do isn't a primary aspect of the game, no matter how much people want it. It will get released, it's just delayed in favor of the mPU...and it should be, in favor of the mPU.

The fact that these debates even exist shows bad management of the brand.

No, not really. It's more people not being able to look at things objectively combined with a completely different, open, development process which the vast majority of people on forums have absolutely no knowledge of how things change and mutate as the development progresses.

Add to that the incessant need for new and better things at every hour of the day and you're left with an ignorant player-base on forums that only serve to circularly whip people up into a frenzy over normal development processes because he said we could have it now.

I lay some fault at CIG's feet for trying to release sections of an game in alpha development as a contributor, granted. However, there is a rampant disease that infests the minds of people on small community sites where you have sways of platitudinal opinions from a very vocal minority, repeatedly feeding off one another like zombies as they begin to make things up or assume that what was said in the first years of development are set in stone for a game that will likely take the better part of 5-6 years for things to take any substantial shape.

Any game that starts out with {x} and {y} systems behaving like {a} and {b} will almost always be changed during a long term development process.  Internal goals will be moved and priorities changed as it progresses, this is normal in development, and people need to realize this.

And MY GOD THESE FORUMS ARE HORRIBLE TO WORK WITH some times.

Most promising MMO on the horizon for 2016, huh. Will you still be so bold when that reads "2018"... I wonder.

Hey guys! One big clarification from CitizenCon: the Baby PU is NOT replacing Star Marine, it's simply going to include a lot of the work we've done on the FPS. We still intend to release Star Marine proper (with Gold Horizon and the HQ game mode and all that.) In all likelihood, you'll see Star Citizen Alpha 2.0 first and then Star Marine proper shortly after that... and we'll continue to update with more details on both as they're locked down.

    https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/289586

That sure as heck sounds like SM was going to be it's own game. Sad part is majority of people that signed up and gave money did so because of SM. Now it goes poof!
What do you mean by "it's own game"? We all know SC is meant to be just one game, so how would you jump to such conclusions?

Me thinks folks are just trying to make it sound worse than it is, a module got delayed or scrapped, that doesn't sound bad enough though does it? One testing module doesn't sound like a death throe... now a whole game sounds way more crucial to a downward spiral of failure.
The fact that you even think throwing away MILLIONS of dollars of crowdfunded money (not to mention throwing the studio who made it under the bus) is no big deal is the reason why people think you guys are cultists, you know that right? Like, can you read what you just typed and actually tell yourself that you're a sane person?

Here's a post on the CIG forums, even the diehards are waking up and realizing they're getting bent over.

COD killer for sure. (Remember when they said it was going to be more lethal than COD? LOL)

"Is Star Marine still coming out?"
    Ben: Yes

Don't you know the definition of "retcon", goobsnews?

"Retroactive continuity, or retcon for short, is the alteration of previously established facts in the continuity of a fictional work."

Cloud Imperium is best Imperium and glorious leader has swatted butterflies to make this all ok.

Interesting..... Pot/Kettle strikes again as we have someone accusing someone of being a cultist fanboy by quoting text that is contextually relevant to their own argument and then ignoring the remainder of the lengthy post in which is, quite coherently, details how it's come to be that people aren't able to look at the situation objectively *cough like you*

I mean, damn! Before yesterday I thought that if Brenics ever agreed with something I said, the Internet would actually collapse in upon itself. However, that happened.... (kind of). So all of the months of him accusing me of being a rabid fanboy were essentially erased by some other poster who was able to finally get through to him.

Honestly, if I have to do the same with you, I will. I don't feel like I'm saving Star Citizen, I feel like I'm educating the uninformed. So what is it that you'd like to learn about today? It really does feel like trying to help religious people see the truth. However, if you feel like coming at me with your most objective argument and supporting documentation, I'll be happy to give you an objective answer to why you're wrong.

It isn't? Where are all the features listed on this list (Provided by a backer of the game, so you don't have to worry about a big bad goon making stuff up)

    http://s13.postimg.org/ytmleb6vr/fps.jpg

Can you please tell me where those features are in the game? According to CR what we have now is "it". So you should be able to provide me with the location and or video proof that the features in that list (Which aren't even all of the ones promised) exist in the game. A gameplay video of you on the Gold Horizon map shooting other players will suffice (You know, content that was done months ago?). I'll be waiting, thanks.

^^^^ Seems so funny now doesn't it?

Doesn't matter if your not actually in league with him, your spouting the same nonsense and I wouldn't be surprised you regularly read his rants.

That is if they have enough money left. Things aren't going so well over on the roberts forums. Starting to look like a lot of backers are waking up from the CR BS show.

One backer even put this up.

    1. Star Marines was promised as stand alone Module.
    2. It was announce on game trade shows
    3. It was said multiple time it is just a few weeks away from release.

It shows the incompetence in planning of CR and i suspect that it is one reason why the Senior Producer and Senior Concept Artist left.

I guess you don't understand what "....that is what is in 2.0 that's what's in 2.1...you have basically what we were planning to do with Star Citizen from the very beginning...." means? Like, the fact that you think what you're typing is real life is VERY scary to me. There is no cult conspiracy here, it's people correcting your bad information.  The only zealotry shown here is from you where you believe nothing that has been released or discussed by the developers of the game, rather those rumors or inaccuracies continuously repeated by those who don't like/care for the game.  Have your opinions but claiming things that just aren't true doesn't make you the noble crusader for justice that you believe it does...just a silly old man at his keyboard with nothing better to do.
I guess you don't understand what "....that is what is in 2.0 that's what's in 2.1...you have basically what we were planning to do with Star Citizen from the very beginning...." means? Like, the fact that you think what you're typing is real life is VERY scary to me. I like also how you call me "a silly old man at his keyboard with nothing better to do"....WHILE YOU DO THE VERY SAME THING! LOL! Proof that these people don't even realize what they're doing. They need help folks. I feel bad about all the suicides that will happen when CR releases a turd that's basically a telltale SC game and/or releases a realllly bad SC movie (Which is what he wanted from the get go anyway).
It's almost like you didn't watch or listen to the video and just waited for a one-liner to use.

"Star Marine was just a game mode for people to play the FPS element of Star Citizen until we could combine everything together; flying, walking around, shooting, doing all the rest of the stuff all together.  Well, that is what is in 2.0, that's what's in 2.1 so with SC Alpha 2.0 onwards you have BASICALLY what we were going to do from the very beginning."

Just a bit later he says:

"We're actually rolling out the FPS features, so 2.2 will have some more features on the FPS side and 2.3 will have more...and so on." Until we've got what we consider the basic functionality so, 2.2 has cover and some other things in it....".  Additionally, they'll have sliding and vaulting.

Nothing will be in Star Marine that won't be in the persistent universe.  All Star Marine is is a game mode (game within a game).

Again, the denial is coming from you, not people correcting you.

    1. Star Marines was promised as stand alone Module.

    --> Incorrect

How is this incorrect? This is common knowledge in this crappy community. Are you really trying to convince everyone that already knows Star Marine was a stand alone module that they were going to add to the game afterwards like AC? Really?

What's this icon doing next to AC (A module, btw) then?

That's so weird...it's almost like...you're making stuff up as you go along.

How many people will "fit" in the persistent universe? How many little 50 dollar ships will someone be able to lord over with his 2000usd family cruiser? 20? 120?

    What do you think?

BTW, anyone not currently invested into this game, this is the kind of gameplay you can look forward to. (You can mute it as it's pretty annoying). This is all basically there is to do in the game. Developers were even begging people to play arena commander on reddit the other day because they can't get enough stats to test things they need to test due to such a low population.

100+ million dollars, 4 years and 500 people later - voila.
