1. Star Marines was promised as stand alone Module.
--> Incorrect
Seems like it was a module here:
"Various promised release dates for Star Citizen modules have slipped. In January 2015, Roberts laid out a schedule
in which the first-person shooter, known as Star Marine, would arrive
by the spring, followed by the social and multicrew modules in the
summer and the single player campaign (Squadron 42) in the fall."
Seems like it was also stated a module here:
"This weekend in Manchester, England, Chris Roberts hosted CitizenCon,
the annual convention for backers of the crowdfunded spacefaring
simulation Star Citizen. After very publicly missing the release date for Star Marine,
the sprawling game's first-person shooter module, Roberts took the
stage to detail the upcoming release of its massively multiplayer
persistent world module."
And also here:
"Chris Roberts explained why the Star Citizen FPS module, Star Marine, has to be delayed"
It sure seemed like it was supposed to be a module...

Hopefully, this will turn out to be a good lesson for all new development teams seeking crowdfunding and maybe a lesson for backers as well. Regardless of success or failure of SC, this project definitely highlights the pros and cons of a more transparent dev process. You can get more funding and more traction by being transparent, but you will have to deal with a lot more in the way of customer service and PR. You also have more risk from this continued exposure and it's much harder to manage expectations. Especially in comparison to managing the expectations of an actual investment team.
As an investor, normally we just agree to milestones and you can update us once a month or quarter on progress and depending on those results it can determine future funding. One of the major downsides of crowdfunding (from the consumer view) is that crowdfunding releases the dev team of accountability. Consumers and Developers complain that having investors or publisher limits their creativity (not an incorrect statement) but releasing them of the check/balance system also comes with it's own dangers.
<I'm personally against a transparent dev process and the majority of crowdfunding for these reasons as I prefer more focused and accountable organizations. Also, Disclaimer: anything I say or do today may come off as hostile and that is unintended. I'm missing PAX (my planned vacation for the quarter) due to a sick rugrat and had to send someone in my place to enjoy things out there.>
goobsnews said: The game won't even come out, so really, the denial is coming from you. Check and mate. No need to reply to my post, I've already won by getting my money back from CIG and I'm just skimming your posts at this point, you just repeat what every redditor sperg says in EVERY. SINGLE. POST. that criticizes Star Citizen. All your responses I could find on reddit right now by other brainwashed people.
It finally comes out. You're not really interested in truth or debate, just trolling and obstinence.

Still waiting for the link where CIG said its "stand alone" ..... anyone ?
Have fun
Once again arguing semantics as an only defense. Talking about "Modules" in relation to gaming literally means that it's a standalone and can function on it's own. You asking specifically for a link that has the word standalone and star marine in it is just another horse crap tactic used by white knights to argue about nothing in order to be seemingly "making a point". Like the multitude of quotes from Ben with the words module and star marine aren't enough evidence that it was a stand alone module. Not to mention white knights themselves calling it a stand alone module not only in this thread but on reddit as well. Keep trying though, maybe next time slugger.
“It would not be my place to give you a timetable, but with the number
of people I’m seeing who genuinely believe that we somehow now aren’t
doing the FPS module I will say that we are talking about a delay of
weeks and not months/years/decades.”
/yawn, more garbage public relations and damage control from this scam project. I love how they constantly back off from their promises and try to push it off as just some kind of restructuring. Well I guess the fanboys might swallow that for awhile, but even they are going to choke on this crap eventually. I am impressed that they have been able to keep this going for as long as they have, but it only shows what suckers people can be. When this house of cards finally collapses, I hope people will start to think harder about throwing money at this stuff. I know John Smedley is feeling the effect of crowdfunding fatigue.

It's not even funny anymore dude, like, these guys need serious help. At least after the whole SM debacle people are waking up..the CIG forums are full of really pizt backers right now and people are starting to see what's actually happening, so that's good news at least. The few people in here though are helpless, I wouldnt be surprised if they stop posting after the scam is complete, most likely due to not being able to handle the real world and what not.
To put it in real life terms, there are people who made decisions whether or not to buy another .jpeg from chris roberts or pay their rent. People have lost relationships, gotten divorced, gone bankrupt, put up second mortgages (some without their spouses knowing), lying to their significant others about financials - all to back a dream of a game from a dude who made a passable game how many years ago? Like, that has to make you think what kind of people are really backing the project still and still standing behind Chris Roberts like he's moses about to part the red sea.
1. They've integrated FPS (as originally planned) and scrapped Star Marine as an individual release. Star Marine was originally intended as a stopgap which they've stated they are skipping and just going to integration.
2. It was considered more of a standalone than AC is (see PAX 14, Reverse the Verse 55-58). The only reason I know this is because I was really looking forward to Sata ball and back last August they stated that it wouldn't be included in Version 1 of Star Marine. This means that their intention was to release it as a Module or a Stand Alone as it was intended to have it's own development version pipeline.
I could care less if it's integrated or a stand alone, the part that I take issue is we were told "coming in months" back in 2014. Then "coming in weeks" in 2015. Now, in CR fashion, it's been pushed/integrated/morphed/idgaf and is in limbo.
This was all done back in 2014 and on to get backers to give them money. Now that they have been denying refunds they are making it sound like it was never going to be what people thought it would.
Scam or not this is how a lot of people are taking it as. Starting to think CR went in the wrong business, he should of been a politician.

Amazing how many great games we have played thru the years yet they started in a garage and never had to have places all over the world to work in. Now we have worse games that spend more on buildings and furniture than the games it self.
Don't forget spending millions on a FPS game mode then scrapping it completely and not only blaming the studio who were making an impressive game mode, but then tell the backers, "YOU'VE HAD IT ALL ALONG!"
It's not scrapped and we did get FPS when the mPU was deployed.
Make up more stuff, this is the perfect site to do so.
Really? Interesting. Just like how Sata ball is out too? It must take A LOT of effort to not cringe when you type stuff out, just reading your posts makes me feel awkward. You spergs are in complete denial, it's a very scary look into the human psyche and how far people are willing to go...which I guess explains why the general gaming community think the Star Citizen fanatics are cultists.
Interesting..... Pot/Kettle strikes again as we have someone accusing someone of being a cultist fanboy by quoting text that is contextually relevant to their own argument and then ignoring the remainder of the lengthy post in which is, quite coherently, details how it's come to be that people aren't able to look at the situation objectively *cough like you*
I mean, damn! Before yesterday I thought that if Brenics ever agreed with something I said, the Internet would actually collapse in upon itself. However, that happened.... (kind of). So all of the months of him accusing me of being a rabid fanboy were essentially erased by some other poster who was able to finally get through to him.
Honestly, if I have to do the same with you, I will. I don't feel like I'm saving Star Citizen, I feel like I'm educating the uninformed. So what is it that you'd like to learn about today? It really does feel like trying to help religious people see the truth. However, if you feel like coming at me with your most objective argument and supporting documentation, I'll be happy to give you an objective answer to why you're wrong.
I don't actually read your posts as I already know exactly what's going to be in them, spoiler alert: the same thing that every one of you spergs type in defense of the game. I don't care if you or your commando buddies agree with me or not, I know that people will come and read the thread out of morbid curiosity and see how the general Star Citizen community is like and get scared away. I'm basically your anti-hero, and it makes me feel so damn good.
Ok well as long as you know you're wrong then I guess I don't have to say anything, you're right. If that makes you happy then I'm glad I don't have to waste logical, intelligent arguments on someone who has the ability to comprehend them, but refuses to.
If if you enjoy playing the anti-hero then that's also fine, but if you choose to ignore factual evidence then it does nothing but make you foolish.

All you did was link the quote from where Chris did a 180 on his previous statements about Star Marine. Before that statement, it was to be a separate game mode/module. This is evident in the game menu shown in many videos where it was positioned beside the AC icon and not as a subsection of it.
Every interview and marketing video make by CIG either stated or implied that Star Marine was to be separate from AC as a game mode. You can quote the current statements all you want but it only shows clear proof that Chris has done a 180 on what we have been told in the past.
