Already bought a dog for looting (and sniffing out gankers later).  That was easily justified because 40 bucks isn't too much for a game I expect to play for a long time.

Like I said, I'm not in a rush to level and won't be unless seiges are released and turn out to be amazing, so I don't need an xp bonus from an outfit.

Gillie suit I might want post 45.  We'll see.  I'm going to try to avoid buying it if I can because I think it's stupid, but if I end up having to buy it, it's not the end of the world.

Everything's relative and the gillie suit is pretty tame compared to the crap going on in BnS right now.

If Gillie is indeed p2w, at least it's pay your 30 bucks and you win.  In BnS with RnG boxes, you might never "win" after spending 100 (recently a sponsered streamer bought $400 worth of keys and didn't hit the "jackpot"), and even then you only "win" for a few weeks since content gets released so fast.

This game is not a rush to level cap. If one doesn't build their empire up first, things may be a little difficult later. I've been the same level for 2 weeks now  with no rush to get to end game. I'm really enging the RTS  feel of crafting and gatheing :chuffed:

IF Node battles are anything like Shadowbane mines, o.mf.g. I will not not have a life again :dizzy:   Shadowbane mine fights were so much fun. The epic battles we had are some of the greatest PVP memories ,ever ! If you don't know or don't show, or don't care about what goes on the node, you won't get it.

Just to add here, that I do feel that BDO sells itself a little short as to what is available in the game world and just how much content you really get. I think they need to do a better job providing information on how the game works and just how big the world is.
I would tend to agree with this, in fact if they offered a strat guide/handbook in their packages for a little extra $, even I'd be tempted to reconsider passing on it although I spent most of my trial tabbing back out of combat when trying to see wtf I was going.

If you're not used to an action-combat system instead of tab-target, it would be a bit daunting.  I wouldn't let this prevent you from playing the game, though.  Tabbing out of combat indicate you're used to tab target.  In this game, you just aim and use abilities.  You can use them from the hotbar like a tab-target, but it's better to learn the key combinations for them.

I can give you another trial if you want to give it another shot, assuming I get my stuff that came with buying the game.  Not sure exactly where that stuff is lol...  I think I may still be considered on the trial I was on even though I bought it.

Anyway, so far so good in the game.  Bumbling along- 3 dead mounts, a few tamed mounts and lots of running around.

World is amazing to be in.

Baited by what exactly?  I'm well aware of the problems the game has.  In fact it was often me pointing them out in this forum.

But the game is the best MMO going right now as far as I can tell, despite the problems.

Welcome to BDO! I play since day one and it was the most well spent 30 euros of my gaming life. This game will be here to stay for long years alive and kicking :)

To be fair, not everyone has a spare $30+ for every game that comes down the pipe, especially if it's not getting great reviews on aspects that may be important to them.

That is the thing - there are no more(or very few) "reviews" out there, just a bunch of biased personal opinions pretending to be "reviews".

Not saying it is impossible to get a hold of factual information about the game but it requires lots of reading and filtering.

At the end of the day tho, there is no way to tell whether you will like the game or not until you try it out for yourself thus the point being made is very ligitimate.

yep 30 pack and 10 for the pet so 40 total.  Didn't think the horse flute or tier 3 horse was enough to spring the extra 10 for the 50 pack.  It might be, but I'm trying to be as frugal as I can be with the game.

If they lower prices I'd be much more likely to buy stuff but lots of people have been saying that for awhile now, so I doubt it will change much.

Trying to tame my own tier 3 is fun in itself anyway, and keeping track of my mount (even though so far I keep letting them die) adds some nice realism, so I don't regret not buying the 50 pack.

3 pets seems like it would be ideal for looting but I think I can get away with just one.  He is helpful anyway.

To be fair, the review on this site seemed pretty balanced. What is incredible is the sheer amount of other sites reviews on the first week after release. How can anyone make a serious review of a game like this  just playing a few days ?

    1) The game is out in other countries for a while, so it isn't particularly new. There is a lot of information available even if you had no chance to play it prior NA/EU release.

    2) It is the same mainstream(asian) MMO layout we are used to so it is very familiar and easy to get in.

If you had to review some complex game I would agree but BDO...?

You have to be kidding.  The damn game has a 266 page "bible".  It is truly unlike any MMO out there.  Can't wait to hear what other asian MMO is just like BDO.

Good to hear you are enjoying the game OP.  I still need to tame a horse and I've played since release lol.

Yep.  Just waiting out this maintenance :(

Taming horses is lots of fun.  Had to do some navigating to spawn points and searching around in forest areas for them.  Reminds me of looking for illigal tree farms in Acrheage back when wood was valuable.  I always enjoyed that and it's neat to have some open world stuff to do that isn't prescribed by the game.

You know of a better one, let me know and I'll play it.

Even if there turns out to be a better one, I'm an avid MMORPG player and I can't resist at least giving BDO a full shot.  It's significantly different enough and has enough quality in it that it deserves that much at least.

I know of many better ones. That said it s all opinion, you might hate what I like, but to claim it s the best anything can be argued till the cows come home.

I am registered on this forum for over 10 years ( give it or take) and I never bother creating a post trashing a game someone is excited about. As a lot people say, its just a matter of opinion , nobody is the owner of the truth.

So why bother creating negative posts? If someone is having a good time, do you have any problem with it?

Mine's already promised.  Try the thread for trials.  Also I got mine from this website in a giveaway- they might do another at some point.

Well, that's true, but if my opinion is invalid, so is yours.

In any case, I've played almost every MMO and I think it's the best right now.  At the very least, it's the best for me since it's new and does stuff differently and looks great/has great music etc., and I've already played through any of the ones worth a salt.

Hey look, there is a 196 pages guide just for WoW Warlock class: http://www.killerguides.net/games/world-of-warcraft/warlock

Anyway, that was my point - just personal bias devoid of any rationale.

Do not get me wrong, it swings both ways - for "positive" as well as "negative" posts.
