I've looked at all the outfits released for the game and this one seems like it's the best out of all of them, including future ones from Korea we may get, so if I'm going to get an outfit, this is probably the one. I really like how sexy and stylish it is, and the staff is just freaking awesome.
But the expensive outfits are one of my few beefs with the game. I held out against buying the game for months mostly because I felt the way they do outfits is unfair to players.
So I'm relying on you, mmorpg.com forums, to convince me not to spend $30 on one outfit and two weapon skins, usable on only one character. Feel free to mention that awakenings are coming at some point soonish which will change the class (into apparently a pet class???), and I might not even like playing witch anymore at that point.
Actually, I'm going to convince you "to" spend the money.
I would ask yourself how much you have already spent on the game over the entire time played.
if it is less than you would have spent on purchasing the game and paying a sub then I see no reason not to spend the money if it enhances your game experience and your "sense" of your character.
I mean, it's $30. Depending on what you do it's about an hour's worth of work. Less if you make more and probably no more than 2 hours worth of work. It's a pittance.

I am not sure which is sadder that people cannot accept that others like different things or that one is so downright envious that you must come on to a thread about one person's choice to buy a costume in a B2P game which has no subscription to ridicule or put that person down and make them feel guilty somehow for not ravaging the game.
Yeah, it must TOTALLY be about jealousy. Because, clearly, he/she is the only person on the planet who can afford to spend $30 on a costume in the worst AAA MMORPG in a half decade. Our 'malice' definitely has nothing to do with a slipshod product delivered by an amateur hour design team clearly looking to recoup a quick buck at the expense of hopeless suckers like yourself... no, it's about envy. That's it. You've got us pegged.
This game sucks so hard and the publisher sucks even more. Horrible game with horrible track record up to this point. BDO is nothing but a cash grab. This game won't be supported in any meaningful way within 18 months.

I'm pretty sure there are "worse" games out there that are actually pay to win and where one can literally spend thousands.
There are bad things about this game, true, but it's not the worse offender at anything. And, if a player is enjoying themselves despite the issues then they can spend a little money for that enjoyment.

You want to justify that, cupcake, or are you just throwing that out there? Could you please rattle off some MMO names in the last 10 years that were worse than this one that had the same amount of dollars spent in development/patches? I'll be waiting.
I stand by my statements, and, what's more, I double down on my more recent ones: anyone who gives Daum money is the same kind of fool who kept snake oil salesmen in business a century ago.

Fixed that for you. The rest was irrelevant nonsense.
Let me explain myself a little bit better. The game is effin amazing! I have not played a game so good in.. many many years! I will not go into full details but the game DOES require allot of time to actually do anything... Yes u can go slow mode and that's fine because it does not really matter if u are 1'st or 100'th in the game. The problem arises when u get to hooked ... it's really REALLY addictive , this is really why i said what i said above and i stand 100% by that. Anyway , if u love the game by the time u finished say 10 hours or so , u will spend more money other then the initial purchase fee on it and that's 100% fact (please don't say otherwise because u know it's not true) So go ahead , keep playing the game , keep buying stuff but not acknowledging the fact that the game will eat up a shitload of your time is just lying to yourself. Blast away.

But... what if I quit the game because it was terrible? Can you shake your magic 8-ball again? I'm sure there must be some kind of fanboy one-liner in there to set me straight.
But... what if I quit the game because it was terrible?
Then you'd move on with your life. Instead of hanging out on the BDO sub-forums, telling people who enjoy the game that they're fools.
Incorrect. I hang out on the main page and follow the currently active forum posts list. I am quite even-handed in my shitposting. You couldn't pay me to wallow in the BDO subforum specifically.

Some people say Archeage is worse. Some people would say that Vanguard was worse. Having played Vanguard at launch and on and off until it was discontinued I would say that wasn't far off.
Some would say Archlord AND Archlord 2.
Some would say Maple Story 2
I could see some saying the first incarnation of Final Fantasy 14
Some might say Ragnarok Online 2
Or the biggest contender, Dark and Light
"cupcake".

I said AAA MMO - not a grab-bag of unrecognizable garbage (I mean, seriously: you regard a shoestring product like RO2 as an AAA game? That's traagic). Also, props for throwing out FFXIV, even though they more than atoned for any initial flub by relaunching the thing. No, you don't get branded a failure if you completely redevelop your product and then walk away as one of the more successful MMORPG stories in a very dark last five years.
Contrary to what you might believe, my post was not an invitation to turn me around on Daum's product offering. BDO is a horrid game, and you cannot convince me otherwise.

I believe those were considered AAA games. Also, Just because you don't know a game doesn't leave it out of the running. And Dark and Light certainly was a AAA game. Vanguard was also a AAA game. Are you saying they weren't larger failures because I played both and they were larger failures. HUGE issues. It would make the games completely unplayable when you weren't being attacked by invisible mobs or falling through the world.
And "yes" they did turn Final Fantasy around by completely remaking it. Good for them. Does that mean its first incarnation wasn't a huge failure? I mean, they "did have to remake the entire game". Didn't you say "worst AAA in 10 years"? So does that mean if they completely remade Black Desert and got rid of its issues then the first incarnation, to you, wouldn't be a failure?
I don't care if you like Black Desert Online or not. I can certainly see its issues, some of them very bad but biggest failure is not the case.
But props to you for avoiding the main thrust of my argument which was "there are games that people would think are worse than Black Desert".

BDO kicked this guy/girl's dog. Go play a linear quest hub themepark # 642. I'll take BDO (which actually came up with some unique systems and freedom in the genre /gasp) over the countless games attempting to cash in on that other game, any day.

What unique thing has BDO come up with exactly? Horse Breeding? they had that in games long ago. Aminty game? Vanguard Freedom? to do what? craft? gather in hopes of getting a sharp black crystal? enthralling. instanced housing? I think there is a game or two with those fishing? no, that ones been done. I know! They were the first to leave a majority of their files on the client allowing for easy hacking! nah that's been done too... I'm at a loss here. Wait! guild wars...oh..I think there is a game with that name in it, so... I got it! The first game with the ugliest horse color combinations! I take it all back, BDO is unique!
Spending money on virtual cosmetics always seemed absurd to me, regardless of cost.
Achieving cool looks on my chars was always an important goal in MMOs. You worked hard to obtain a set and when you showed it off to other players it actually meant something. It meant you'd put a lot of time and effort into gearing up, it meant your toon was powerful, that you were experienced and that you should be taken seriously.
Now looking cool means absolutely nothing, zero.
For me all these MMORPGs that do cosmetic cash shops are not only shooting themselves in the foot, but the entire genre as well. If you remove esthetic progression, you eliminate a huge reason why people get hooked to these games in the first place. This is a very bad, desperate and self destructive move from the MMORPG game developing community, IMO.
I only slightly disagree, but mostly I'm right there with you.
Looking cool doesn't mean absolutely nothing, it means you spent money in a cash shop. Actively supporting paid cosmetic progression, paying for rewards instead of playing for them.

Firefall, Wildstar...just the recent ones...
@Koboli As much as I enjoy your posts, I am afraid I have to agree with @Gdemami on this one. Wilstar takes the cake on the worst MMO, not only in a decade, but that I have ever played. While I haven't played this one, and I do agree it's crap based on what I know of it, I think I would still enjoy this game slightly more than Wildstar, an enema or a root canal.
Unique systems, lol ya that BDO has. I love the I ll take that over your quest hub to quest hub game anytime. Grinding , grinding, grinding, and more grinding I guess is better, lol. Did I mention it s not unique.

Now this is a bit harsh lets be fair now ... BDO was the first to do ....
I've looked at all the outfits released for the game and this one seems like it's the best out of all of them, including future ones from Korea we may get, so if I'm going to get an outfit, this is probably the one. I really like how sexy and stylish it is, and the staff is just freaking awesome.
