Actually, since this is entirely a debate about what particular words mean, it is a democratic process. If 80% of the english speaking world woke up tomorrow and decided 'christmas ham' is a term for rocketship, I fully expect NASA and Websters to update their verbiage within the fortnight. That's just the way these things work. You of course are free to continue to claim that 'christmas ham' is only a delicous pagan feast, but that doesn't change the fact that you would be demonstrably wrong regardless of how tasty it might be, as Websters and NASA would be the ultimate authority on such terminology.
If even such powerful institutions are subject to the will and whim of the people, it probably doesn't matter if a single pleb isn't.
Please give your definition of Open World PvP. Not something vague. Something that sounds like a real definition. Similar in form to this:
"Open World PvP" is an amalgamation of two separate thoughts: "open world" and "PvP."
An open world in a game is a game space in which players are not limited to a set path. They are free to explore the edges of the map in any order they choose, generally speaking. The map is generally on the larger side, but not every one needs to be massive like in WoW.
PvP is obviously "Player vs Player." That encompasses anything where two players compete with one another within the mechanics of the game. This colloquiallly applies primarily to RTS, RPG, and FPS games, but really it can apply to anything.
So "open world PvP" is really just any game that satisfies those two conditions.

Cant Understand Normal Thinking....
There is 6 pages of evidence of that in this thread alone ....
No you guys rambled. You've given some super vague half assed things about it meaning "The entire world is Open for PvP." That's vague enough it doesn't apply to any MMO. Not even EVE. Give me something solid. If I looked up Open World PvP in the dictionary what do you think it should say?

Your error is to assume that two or more words in a phrase combined must likewise borrow relatively equally from the definitions of those indvidual words.
'Snake oil' does not literally mean refined snake fat. It doesn't mean anything even close to that. So there really isn't much default practicality in your claim.
I'm not really concerned with your assessment of the top definition of Open World PvP in google results. I want to know what Open World PvP is to you in your own words. If you can't clearly articulate your own definition as the post I quoted did, why should anyone accept yours? This shouldn't be a difficult task if you are clear on your own definition and usage of the word.
We should do a poll on which is the dumbest thread: "are MMOs MOBAs..." or this gem right here. I'm really beginning to question whether these forums are even worth my time anymore.

Open world always just meant it was not locked behind something, no separate zones, no battleground, no safe areas. There could be safer areas.
So if Ettenmoors is just an area in the game it is not open world pvp.
