Henry Cavill will be playing Geralt of Rivia in the upcoming Netflix series based on The Witcher. In a new Twitter post from Netflix US, we get our first look at the stern-faced Cavill as he will appear in the series.

Not sure what people was expecting... This is after all made for mass market... This is not some indie fan film...

Sex sells and you might think what you like but people way smarter than you spend way more time then you on researching how much gruff is to much gruff... And how clean sexy needs to be.

To be fair that is way closer to the original than i thought it was going to be, we also do not know at what point in his life this "exact" image is from. But i fully expect some prettying up to go on to add some of that more normative smolder.

Be glad it is not worse... Because it could have been way worse..

Why try to use reason & logic when ridiculing & criticizing pumps-up fragile entitled egos? I'm still not completely sold on this, yet, but I have read that Cavill has been a devoted gamer so I'm willing to give him a chance on such an esteemed story. Besides, this is all just preliminary stuff with much more refinement to be done probably.

People are under delusion that TV shows is based on game instead of books, if they read at least one they would know that he hates beard and has longish hair instead of the fancy haircuts he had in game. Heck you could even check the old TV show, they could have picked maybe a different actor, but the look follows the books.

Being the movie buff i am I'm not sure this is a great cast, now with that said its unfair to base this on looks alone, this guy might be a great actor. I guess i was just expecting someone a little more gritty looking.

Meh. Not bad for a first test. This isn't likely the final look. Keep in mind this is a younger Geralt so much of the wear and tear and age isn't going to be there.

yeah, there were definitely more actors better suited for the role but this is it...

I hate commenting back to back but I agree. The games really don't portray him like the books. The games made him into a man whore which he isn't.. but sex sells and seeing virtual boobs is a selling point for some.

looks a little silly but gray hair on a younger person looks pretty weird to me. but it'll probably be fine. at least he's a decent actor.

i wouldn't know.. i've never played the games and until just now i wasn't aware that there was also books :P
