Yup. That sticks out like a sore thumb especially in a Bioware game. The story and plot is comic book level bad and not Marvel comic book or graphic novel level. More like Archie and Jughead bad or Porky and Petunia.
The outcome of the failure of that intro mission makes no sense whatsoever. The voice acting is good and so are the facial animations but it's just wasted effort. In my limited game play I feel totally disconnected from all the characters.

The game sounds rushed and with a lot of corners cut. Bioware was known for their stories. This almost sounds like a mobile game.

The plot twist is so cliche and bad and WTF. Is there a way to skip all the dialogue? I'd never want to actually play through that. Skip to the pew pew pls.

I really enjoy the game but the constant loading makes me quit playing after a few missions. There is no reason for there to be so many and take forever.

Yeah, once you get out into Bastion in your Javelin, exploring and fighting can be a lot of fun.
I'll be playing next weekend, because fuck paying for Origin Access.
Looking forward to it nonetheless. It's the first interesting release to me this year, in a series of desirable 2019 games (Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Devil May Cry 5, Astral Chain, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, and Shin Megami Tensei 5, if it releases this year).
I got this game and I went in with every intention of not liking it. Honestly, these types of games never keep my attention long and I tend to play here and there and then eventually forget I own it.
For whatever reason, I like it. Anthem is a good game. The story is interesting enough, the gameplay is smooth and polished and I have unlocked three Javelins thus far and they feel like they are described, similar but very distinct play styles associated with each one.
This is the first game in a long time that I have absolutely no regrets buying.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

I originally paid $80 dollars for the pre-order and later cancelled to get Origin Access Premium for $20 more. I think the $99 price tag is worth it because you get the entire EA library with all DLCs included. That is cheaper than purchasing 2 games a year. I am enjoying the game as well so far. I have still encountered a few bugs and a missed storyline video so far.
I also wish there were loadout stations in freeplay, like at the Striders or something and the entrance to Tarsis. It's crap having to end freeplay when you've done something like completed a weapon challenge and want to change so you can do another.. and have to endure a big loading screen and a couple small ones.. then another big one getting back into freeplay.
It's not game breaking for me, I still like the game, but there's lots of things that break the pace.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
After taking a look at a couple streams and seeing the actual guts of the game, I think this is a pass for me. Actual combat is the best part, combat variety isn't and the story is NOT Bioware quality. Loading screens galore, strongholds continually dumping people midway and being stuck at doors just like the demo.
So you haven't played it, but trying to pass off a couple videos as first hand experience? I've put in about 14 hours since Friday. I literally have not experienced any of the issues you keep parroting. You are repeating the issues from the demo which have been resolved. Is the game perfect? No, but it's fun. You're starting to sound like Wizardy. That isn't a compliment.

Exactly! it needs a ton of "quality of life" improvements. their devs or gms are pretty active on the subreddit so maybe they'll listen to the feedback. they also definitely need to work on the in game social aspects as there really isn't any...i'm old school so give me a chat box for every game man.
The roleplay part, stories, npc discussion are top notch and really immersive with tons of cut scene. the game is beautifull and the universe really interessting. I don't know if it will hold the attention at late game but the leveling / story experience is very refreshing
Reminds me a lot of SW:TOR, one of the worst things about that game was the shear number of loading screens you had to endure just going from A - B, don't get me wrong, i liked the game, but i hated how many times loading screens interrupted gameplay, it was ridiculous.

I have seen a downturn in the quality of Biowares stories, characters, and dialog since DAI. They used to be king of that which is what drew me to them in the first place. They have moved focused away from those areas and it is showing and imo, getting worse with every game they release.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

It's like if Mc Donalds dropped most of their specialties and started selling cheaper versions of the most popular fast food restaurants.

I would have said since Mass Effect 3. And I'm not even talking about the ending.
My biggest problem with ME3 was how they Jersey Shorified the franchise with terrible new companions. James Vega and EDI were easily two of the worst companions in Bioware's history, and so many of the classic companions from ME1 and ME2 were relegated to temporary squad members or NPCs. It felt like a cheap mockery.

Coincidental with the Doctors cashing out and getting the hell out of Dodge.

I can say that i've watched more because in early testing not everything was shown. The indoor stuff is way better than the outdoor, not something i ever agree with as usually indoor dungeon type stuff is super boring. Anyhow the indoor looks a tad upgrade from earlier outdoor crap,i still don't feel the game is that good at all, like to me it is not fun but then again i've played a lot of shooters over my life and shot millions of pew pew so giving me the same old does not excite me one bit.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I've actually played quite a bit of the game now, this game is not what I wanted story wise, and a majority of the gameplay just sucks.
Previous Bioware games or even any open world game you want world building through responses, or conversations, you want to know about a character but you also want to learn something in turn. In anthem every side conversation is pointless. Everything is just FREELANCERS DO THIS, FREELANCERS ARE GREAT, FREELANCERS LIVE BY THIS CODE. Or something extremely bland about how someones store isn't doing well, or how they gambled and lost. There's no world building, it's just conversations to have conversations. I haven't developed any interest in 99% of the characters I've spoke with because they are all so boring.
The main area you have to walk around to get quests and talk to people is also the worst designed hub I've ever experienced. In destiny at least you can quickly get places, but I feel like it's just a chore in Anthem. I walk from one side of the map to the other, to have a slow boring conversation, to walk back to get another mission from someone else, to realize another conversation opened up on the other side about someone buying a plant.
Also the small things that bugged me originally are REALLY getting on my nerves now. Slow loading times, paired with bugs just make it crazy annoying. There was a time when I finished a cutscene with my group, and it put me into a screen where it said people needed to ready up, I thought it was just going slow or something. 3 minutes later it said I died, but I had no ability to see my character or anything, it glitched out. I missed the entire end of a missions story because it decided not to let me load in.
Hopefully the endgame loop is fun, I'll probably get there today, if not at least I didn't pay full price for this.
I've been playing it since early release and I must say that I am enjoying certain parts -especially the combat and more the graphics (OK, I have a beast PC) -but not the whole experience. I have it installed on an NVMe M.2 SSD and the load times are still killing me. The story is ho-hum and the NPC's bland. I have not really gotten the whole ultimate teamwork feel yet, mostly shoot/kill everything that moves and the teleportation part is annoying as hell as I sometimes like to take in the visuals. But I guess that's best done when "questing" alone. I'd give it a 6/10 for now. It just feels to much like any loot-based MMO (Destiny 2) that needs more "meat". Hopefully it gets better as I delve into more content.
Early launch does not seem to be going well if you go to the subreddit.
What are they going to do when the flood gates really open and I thought they stated they fixed the looping issue?
Only get one chance to make first impression.
Queue up the ..... but launches always go this way folks
I started playing friday night and i played all weekend and i had mimimal problems I am lvl 28 with a pimped out colossus I even got a masterwork ar rifle

I have been playing this game all weekend and I am still very happy with it. I would say if the story is a huge deal to you, it may be a letdown but every other aspect of the game has been very smooth.
There are a few bugs, but none so far have been game breaking.
I love the flow of combat and how much you can build your Javelin to suit your play style. Even Javelins of the same type can be wildly different.
Overall Anthem is a good game and if this is your type of game I feel like it will be a very good experience for you.

of the most pleasurable gaming experiences I've had in years. The story so far is Mass Effect level, the
gameplay(as the Storm javelin, unlocked all the others but havent tried them much yet) is phenominal.
THIS is the Bioware of old people, and they're just getting started, this is what Andromeda should have
been(except with more space obviously).
