This past week, Kevin had the chance to play the game ahead of the closed beta. What are his first impressions as both someone completely new to the game and one who enjoys other A-RPGs? This game has the worst control scheme... to think when there is Diablo, these guys would mess up the controls probably as bad as Last Epoch, if not worse.

The game is literally unplayable. I also don't understand why anyone would be excited about a game locked in isometric view with horrible controls in 2021. If it was 2003, I would be OK with with, but now that's just an insult.

It has horrible controls agreed. I tried to bind the autorun key and use it like I do in other games like Path of Exile or even Grim Dawn as a force move key where you depress a key on the keyboard and then just slide the mouse to the direction you want to move to without pressing the mouse. You cannot do that. The have an autorun key which is stupid because you have to still click the damn mouse to show where you want to go. What kind of stupid controls is this?

I tried the controller and unlike even Diablo 2 resurrected where you can just navigate with the left stick this one requires you to use the right stick and then press it to point where you want to go. Who makes dumb navigation like this?

Borrows to the point of blatant robbery from Dungeon Fighter Online. Throws in a Diablo perspective with similar oomph but less loot. Uses aesthetics from Black Desert and will likely monetize like it too. Still fun to play

Control Scheme going from something like POE to this is tough. That is the only complaint I have so far. Will enjoy still.

I don't get thy hype. This game is utter junk in every possible way. Yes I just tried the beta and it's really bad, I don't even know where to start. It looks like a mobile port and it's as fun as smacking your head against the wall.

To each his own I guess. Have fun playing it if you enjoy it.

How does that work don't you still have to click the middle mouse button?

The other way you just press say "W" and then slide the mouse and no clicking involved.

Trying to avoid click to move. I cannot see how what you suggested helps. I usually play with my skills mapped to my 19 button mouse and just slide the mouse to navigate with the W on KB pressed. Any clicking is a big no for me to move it just makes my hand tired real fast. No holding the mouse button either that just hurts period.

I wish it worked better with the controller. Have to find out how to solve this.

I'm getting used to the controls.  I'm debating remapping them though.  It looks great other than the over the top korean design.  but I can get used to that.

The combat is 10x better than Grim Dawn and much smoother than POE as well.


This game will have a bigger impact on Last Epoch than say POE though.  and I still expect to be turned off by the cash shop "conveniences" and grinding the highest ilevels

Mouse software application that has a macro creation function that allows the use of "TOGGLING" your macro on and off.

The controls are not that much different than POE or GRIM DAWN, and I have been playing Grim Dawn for a couple weeks again. Diablo games, you are clicking move too, lock isometric view. So I do not understand some of these comments folks are posting.

I use the controller in Diablo 2. Then I use the mouse and Kb for interacting in town. I am talking about the force move key that you can enable in Grim Dawn and Path of Exile. It really saves your hand so much pain.

I will check what you're trying to explain. Sorry I still cannot understand what the toggle does. What does the macro do exactly? How does it help navigation?

I use macros a lot since I use a gaming mouse but I cannot understand what that 8 second toggle does. How can I avoid holding down the mouse to navigate?

This same complaint came up in alpha, I had it as well until I created a bind that worked for me. It's a dungeon crawler, not really different from Marvel Heroes if anyone ever played that. I think the problem some have is the lack of ability to move and have regular attack on LMB because they are split between two buttons which forces you to click with two fingers.

What is the long term potential of this game? Is it like you rush to max level and then go play other games until new content comes out or does this game have things to do after that?

I come from 90's and 2000's era Ultima Online, Shadowbane and Eve Online.

Apparently the non whales play a lot on alts to farm gold and dailies.  It probably depends on your goals.

Is this it?

With pretty much every programable mouse, it comes a software. In that software you can create macros. I know with Razer Synapse and Logitech GHub there is macro function that allows you to toggle the macro on and off. The same thing would apply for a programmable controller.

Every single click to move Isometric game, I always program it to auto run/move regardless if the game has the "Force Move" keybind or not.

It isn't autorun there is an autorun already in Lost Ark. What force move gives is the precision autorun lacks. Force move and auto run are not the same thing. Autorun just runs off in a direction. Force move only goes where the mouse cursor is.

I'm aware of the difference, sadly I think you are missing the point of this. So good luck trying to figure it out.

I already programmed my mouse and can toggle my middle click and let my character go in the direction the mouse cursor is without any issues.

Game is awesome. The bad reviews in this forum is either players in denial and not wanting to give up years of progress in their current MMO, or lunatics that still believe in true f2p.. games need to make an income doh! Those that accuse Lost Ark of p2w just need to take a look at BDO, about $4k to $10k per endgame gear piece in p2w mode, then you get a FOM class just destroy you in 1 sec regardless how much you spent.

The game is great yeah.

It's not a copy/paste of what you're used to, but you do get used to it after a bit and as you progress more and more of it unlocks. The isometric type of play and such are just what it is on its base.

i played for like 30 minutes, logged out, now i have a game breaking bug making it impossible for me to log in and play
i think its something to do with their garbage anti cheat

also theres a lot of posts on forums about how censored it is and a lot of cosmetics are straight painted over and hiding any female's figure and stuff like white people turned into black people for NA audience, and in korea/ russian they are still white. real blatant stuff, lazy stuff.

Also people crying because they see other languages besides English in chat like a bunch of immature kids. Sounds like you should be happy you can't log in then. Maybe get a VPN and play on Russia servers with Russians.
