Don't worry Pigozz, when 3.17 drops I'll come back to this post and make sure you understand what was added in that patch. :D

At ease guys, Keep Kalm & Karen On B)
Hey @Pigozz! Patch 3.17 just dropped, you seemed so worried about it only having "coffe" that I figured you'd like to know more:

    New Features:

    Locations

    - Lorville Maria Pure of Heart - Hospital Interior Location

Implementation of Maria Pure of Heart hospital in Lorville, where players can receive medical treatment, regenerate, make imprints, and purchase medical supplies.

    - Space Station Clinics: Variations

Updated all current space station clinics with new additional modules and layouts to help each location feel more unique.

    - River T0

Initial implementation of river tech to enhance the ecosystems of our planets. This first iteration will add a single river with harvestables nearby onto microTech as a showcase with the intention of expanding on this in future releases.

    AI

    - Coffee Shop Vendor

The addition of a fully interactable coffee shop vendor in Area18. The AI will interact with three new usables – hot drink dispenser, soft drink dispenser, and drinks fridge – to serve the player with a variety of new drinks.

    Gameplay

    - Ship to Ship Refueling

Implementation of the systems that will allow players flying specific ships to refuel other ships in exchange for payment.

    - Shopping and Selling T0

Added the ability for players to sell items from their local inventory to shops using a new interface powered by Building Blocks. This supports the recently added Loot Generation feature, allowing these items to be sold for money and includes kiosk and service support for sale of non-commodities as well.

    - Mining Gadgets

Added Mining Gadgets to allow players to modify a deposit's properties.

    - Ship and Ship Components Inventory Updates

Major overhaul of the ship personal inventory storage to allow for ship components to be stored and transported inside ships.

    Weapons and Items

    - Added Carryable Storage Container to shops in the PU

    Feature Updates

    Characters

    - DNA Head Textures Update

    Locations

    - Updated the inventories of Low Orbit Stations and Landing Zones so that each will now have their own separate inventory

    Gameplay

    - Ground Vehicle Signature Emissions Changes
    - Shield Balance Updates
    - Ship Weapons Polish Pass
    - Player Injury Polish Pass
    - FPS Weapon Refactor
    - Hunger and Thirst Polish Pass

    - Added Keybind Option to Request ATC Landing and Takeoff (Unbound by Default)

    Ships and Vehicles

    - Added Ships and Vehicles to PU Shops

Added Aegis Redeemer, Anvil Spartan, Argo Raft, Consolidated Outlands HoverQuad, Crusader A2 Hercules Starlifter, Crusader Ares Ion Star Fighter, Crusader Ares Inferno Star Fighter Inferno, Drake Cutlass Steel, and Origin 400i.

    - Increased Hull Health for ARGO MPUV, Drake Cutlass Variants, MISC Starfarer, MISC Prospector, and MISC Hull-A.

    Core Tech

    - Desync Improvements

Included a networking updated to reduce ship to ship desync issues. The direction and position of other player ships should now update closer to real time and feel much more accurate.

    - GPU Particle Performance Pass

Converted Xi'an Scout and Aopoa Nox thruster particles to render through GPU instead of CPU.

    - Optimized streaming bubble around player to improve asset streaming performance
    - Partial Gen12 Scene Rendering
    - Client Bind Culling in the Replication Layer
    - Entity Centric Entity Component Update Scheduler
    - Zone Lock Thread Contention fixes

It's become so stale that even a fans list of important launches doesn't include anything that would have happened less than 7 years ago.

They're more and more stuck in a situation where every new large engine feature takes more time to implement than the previous one, and the fans keeping up funding ensures that the devs don't have enough incentive to solve the problem.

Yeah and he was spot on since they made the effort of bringing online multiple playable modules in the first years. So, not only the project kept it's momentum but it has increased every year lol

    Wrong. As usual.

If ypu bothered to read you'd notice how I clearly mentioned player concurrency AND funding.

Because, and this should be obvious, they are related.

As the game becomes more playable it will cater to more players and more funding it will get. Just like I always said it would along these years.

    But it is alpha 3.17.

And me who felt guilty for few seconds for making fun of this 10 years old game alpha in the past. o:)

PS: more than 10 years old?

    From wikipedia:

Pre-production of Star Citizen began in 2010[55] with production starting in 2011 using CryEngine 3.[...]] Star Citizen was officially announced at GDC on October 10, 2012, during which the website they had built for the campaign crashed.[60] Following the GDC presentation, the company announced a Kickstarter campaign on October 18, 2012.[3]

Umm.. what I said was RIGHT.  You may ALSO have talked about "player concurency".  What you did NOT talk about was the actual game.

    Exactly like I said.

The technology that the game is built on.. is constantly expiring.  Chris even said this. If you disagree then take it up with Chris next time you see him. I'm sure he will toss you a free jpeg or something.

Slap you do not understand how great this game is.

It is like the wonderful cathedrals of medieval times, in which the people who started to build them never lived long enough to see the finished product.

I am almost 50. If everything goes well, I have about 30 years left. According to my calculations, I should be able to witness something like the alpha patch 15.x before passing away(if there is no delay).

The only reason people keep quoting ‘dumb things Roberts’ said’ is because he said these dumb things in the first place. In a thread about CIG blaming its incompetence on the community you are now trying to blame the community for things Roberts said. There is great irony in that, if you have a sense of humor that is. I know this is not going over your head so I assume it's intentional.   Chris Roberts said that his technology has an expiration date.. it gets stale.   Nothing you have said, or can say.. will change that.

You can deflect and answer questions not posed all you want but at the end of the day that doesn't change the ticking clock.

The funding and the game progress diverged a long time ago.  This is why you cannot even say how much money is needed to get to launch.  You honestly do not know. Because there IS NO PLAN TO GET TO LAUNCH.  That.. sadly... is the state.  So any "progress" is just walking on a treadmill. Maybe you are building up endurance... burning calories... but you aren't GOING ANYWHERE.

Kickstart launch at the end of 2012, Hangar module in 2013, Dogfight module in 2014 and Online Universe in 2015.

Oh so stale it became....that they've been the top space sim game in the market while in alpha and break record funding records every year lol Haters sure are dense but they spawn the cutest unicorns :D
It's become so stale that even a fans list of important launches doesn't include anything that would have happened less than 7 years ago.

They're more and more stuck in a situation where every new large engine feature takes more time to implement than the previous one, and the fans keeping up funding ensures that the devs don't have enough incentive to solve the problem.

lol whaaat? Having increasing numbers of player concurrency AND funding year after year is not becoming stale lol

You'd need to be blind or a really die hard hater to try to deny that lol

What new large engine feature takes more time though?
    What are you talking about?

Seems you have zero clue about the game and it's development, here's a year in review:

This year alone more and more mainstream youtubers have been playing Star Citizen with videos with thousands, even millions of views lol

    Oh so stale  :D
You realize it was Roberts using ‘stale’ right? So when you mockingly use it you are not making the “haters” look like fools.

    /Cheers,
    Lahnmir
Yeah and he was spot on since they made the effort of bringing online multiple playable modules in the first years. So, not only the project kept it's momentum but it has increased every year lol

Which is the oposite of getting stale.

Which is why it's so hilarious when folks try to bring old ass quotes like it's some kind of gotcha moment lol.

Just the usual desperate haters having a hard time eating crow lol

Meanwhile Star Citizen just keeps on getting better and better with more players joining and making millions along the way.

    Rinse, Repeat  B)
The only reason people keep quoting ‘dumb things Roberts’ said’ is because he said these dumb things in the first place. In a thread about CIG blaming its incompetence on the community you are now trying to blame the community for things Roberts said. There is great irony in that, if you have a sense of humor that is. Indeed, rinse and repeat.

    /Cheers,
    Lahnmir
    Yep.

Babs keeps quoting tired old memes, but there's so many 'Roberts Retorts' because the guy can't stop blathering about things for a decade.  And Roberts blather is filled with failed or incomplete production goals, pie-in-the-sky dreamscape, and confused babble.

    But hey, dreams sell.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

@eoleo acting like the typical jaded old timer...  :D

Parachutting into a thread and subject you have little knowledge in hopes of fitting in.

I'm afraid wikipedia will not be enough to allow you to catch up with now simple concepts of crowdfunding, early-access, iterative development and so on.

And since I'm not gonna waste time explaining those for the 10000th time I can only wish you Best of luck reminishing the "good old days" while waiting for that mmorpg that brings that childwood joy of getting lost in a new world again.

I already got mine so, sorry not sorry B)

    HAHAHAHA! I love it.

    "Matchmaking in process..."
    "Match found!"

    Let's have fun!

    "Parachutting".

Interesting expression which tries to discredit people who intervene in a public online forum. Is free speech forbidden here? Are you against it? Do you try to deny my right to express myself on a public forum?

"in the hopes of fitting in".

This one is really good and vainly tries to be the meanest. I am (not) sorry Sir to make fun of the 10+ yo game alpha/scam that is Star Citizen. And yes, I confess it, making fun of dishonesty and scammers together sometimes feels like a big party :D

    "I'm afraid wikipedia [...]"

Another weak argument here. Wikipedia was not used to describe "concepts of crowdfunding, early-access, iterative development and so on"
Just read again, I was just mentioning some insightful dates showing that SC is about 12 years old. I could get this info everywhere. This is not just in wikipedia.

"acting like the typical jaded old timer...  :D
    [...]
"wish you Best of luck reminishing the "good old days" while waiting for that mmorpg that brings that childwood joy of getting lost in a new world again."

That one also tries to be mean (borderline insulting), but especially wins the best award of assuming utter bullshit! Good Sir, game-wise I did not wait for you to move forward. I am currently having a blast in Elden RIng, and have a long list of awesome modern games waiting for me.

The low level of your comment especially shows how hard my cathedral comparison did hurt. Probably because not only it offers a good perspective of what is to come for SC (a second coffee machine?), but especially because it is really making sense. Which is exactly what this game alpha/scam is not able to deliver.

Or maybe you are defending the concept of making a game over 20-30 years? It is already more than 10 years and the game alpha/scam is still in alpha (lol). Therefore it is not an impossible projection.

Since you are so much aware (lol) about the "concepts of crowdfunding, early-access, iterative development and so on" (looooooool), can you please share with me/with us how long will be the beta? Let me make a wild guess: 12 more years? It is becoming really hard to not openly laugh about it.

Should I get started on the half a billion raised for this game alpha/scam that you flash at each increase? For an alpha after 12 years? That doesn't make me laugh anymore...

I even suggest the devs to be really revolutionary and, after the beta, to conduct a delta. That would for sure wrap the whole picture together.

    Edit: grammar.

I know this is not going over your head so I assume it's intentional.   Chris Roberts said that his technology has an expiration date.. it gets stale.   Nothing you have said, or can say.. will change that.
Oh boy you're so lost and desperate you resort to make up random quotes that have nothing to do with the conversation while even ignoring basic concepts of life lol

Technology is iterative. It doesn't have a set expiration date. It can be kept relevant as long as you update and work on it. That's why companies can use "decade old engines" to creat cutting edge video games

That statement is even more ridiculous considering how far ahead Star Citizen is ahead of it's "competition" techwise lol

    @eoloe Nice effort but TLDR(mobile)

But Look up  Early-Access and GAAS games.
    Same concept.

About the 500$million, look up AAA revenues and expenditures. You'll notice that's not much spread across 10 years ;)

No… updating to new engine iteration is what costs time and money.   Sure you can always throw out the old stuff and start fresh with updated tech…

Just like you throw away the old stake loaf of bread and buy a new one.

Thus the treadmill.  You are no closer to launch than you were last year.
