Sure, I'm covered. I'm going to play GW2 for as long as it's still going.
But the discussion is not: "Does Ungood have a Game he like to play"
The Question is: "why the fuck are Devs putting out piles of shit games that end up face fucking the earth on launch, what the hell are these people thinking?" Are they just stupid or are they being maliciously misled?
Developers are putting out games that some appreciate and others do not. Even the most popular of games aren't viewed with unanimous favour.
A better question is why can't some accept that tastes very and what one sees as trash another may see as treasure?
Are they just that obtuse such a basic truth eludes them, or are just so consumed by their own preferences that they can't imagine someone wanting other than?
You know, if the people that claimed they wanted these shitty ass retro-feature games played and spent money on the new games that put them in, like Mortal Online II and Albion, for example, all would be great in the world.
Legit, all would be fucking prefect!
Those games would thrive, and no one would be wondering "What the Fuck are Dev's thinking putting out this burning pile of shit that face fucks the earth on launch, and they trying to spin the whole thing around to attract us PvE scrubs, the absolute fuck is wrong with those Devs, they can't even get the people that they were targeting to play their shit game, we are not going to play their shit either"
And that right there is the biggest problem, the legion of banshees that raise their voices and spout their bullshit about wanting those mechanics and cry how great those features are, and then when the Devs put them in, then, lo and behold, the people that wanted that shit, don't play the fucking games!
Leaving the devs standing there, holding their balls, now millions in debt, crying to players like me, to save their ass.
And I am going to do it? No, I'm logging into GW2, I didn't ask them to make that pile of steaming of burning shit to start with, and I am not going to play it even as they scramble to put the flames out and make it attractive to players like me.
And yet, if a new game comes out, without any of those really shit old school features, all the whiny voices rise up and cry about how there are no games for them. Well dumbfuck, if you played the games that tried to cater to you, they would exist, and more would exist!
For me, I laugh my ass off at this, because the people that are getting screwed are not me
They are the chorus of harpies that claim they want those features and the devs dumb enough to try and make a game for them
Nothing wrong with wanting those features either, but if you ask for them, and then you just jack off and don't support the companies that make the shit you ask for, what the fuck dude?
A couple features don’t make the entire game. I would love Albion if it wasn’t point 2.5D style point and click game. Mortal is too slow and forced first person.
“It has X feature you were wanting so badly!” Sure but Y ruins everything about it.
I feel that about most MMORPGs. There’s always something that makes it a no.
There always is. Some just work harder at finding these negatives and place more emphasis on them than others such that they will starve at a banquet because nothing on offer is seasoned just so.
I wouldn't go that far.
Well, perhaps there are people who only want to complain. For me, I'll just stick to what I liked.
I suppose, in the end, Lord of the Rings Online is it until something better (for me) comes along.
I used 'some' to account for the uncertain number of players so prone. But with many saying they can't find a MMORPG to play with so many available of varying nature there are at least a few that discriminating.

Know what this is?
Anyone know what bullshit this is?
I'll tell you, it's called "Choosey Beggar Syndrome"
It's the fucking bullshit that players spew out their ass when they are looking for any justification they can to not play a game, they will anus vomit anything and everything they can to to say why they are not playing that game
Is 2.5D a problem? Hardly, in fact almost no one cries like a little bitch about it when it comes to UO, in fact, almost never gets mentioned at all, that it is an Iso game
But, OMFG! OH HOLY BALLS SHIT! You don't UNDERSTAND! I just can't play a game like that! It's a deal breaker for me.
Bullshit, League of Legends is 2.5D/Iso, and that game is fucking super popular!
OMFG! It's first person! So is Overwatch, and no one cries like a little bitch about that, or being a little shit about how that is a deal breaker!
Anyone who pulls that kind of crybaby bullshit, is just begging for any reason at all to avoid playing the game without admitting they didn't enjoy getting corpse raped for the 500th time within the first hour of playing and that FLOW-PvP Games are not whatever the fuck they imagined they were 20 fucking years ago!
Good fucking Hell, just own up to the real reason and stop with the bullshit.
But LoL and Overwatch are both absolute garbage lol.
I used 'some' to account for the uncertain number of players so prone. But with many saying they can't find a MMORPG to play with so many available of varying nature there are at least a few that discriminating.
Yes we are discriminating, because the stuff coming out now is trash.
If my choices are:
A.) Put toothpicks under my fingernails B.) Put nails under my fingernails
I am going to choose C) Do neither of those actions (Why do I need to put those under my fingernails LOL)
I think it really comes down to some people just dont have any standards at all. They dont mind a buffet of rotten garbage. I would rather complain about rotten trash than to eat it. I can wait and pick and choose from other genre's.
So there is a big disconnect between these bottom feeders and people with standards. So go ahead and be a catfish and gorge yourself on all that nasty stuff, Yum Yum. There are so many Free or less than $5 games out there, have at it.
Ungood said: In either case, the game needs to be good enough to hook the player to want to spend money on it.
Case in point, I played BDO, and it had a very imposing and aggressive cash shop, but I simply did not like the game enough to spend money on it
You may not like BDO enough to spend money on it but many people do, certainly enough for them to keep chugging along. I've also seen some posting that their cash shop isn't as aggressive as it once was but I can't verify that myself.
If that's true it's an interesting shift that suggests they monetized to the point where overall profits declined and they realized dialing things down would ultimately be more beneficial than maintaining them or pushing further.
Now let me clue you in on something, only the core players know the system changed. Know why they know that, because they have stayed around and kept the game going.
For my clue to you, core players of games share their current knowledge of them publicly. All one need do to maintain some awareness is pay attention.
No Fucking Shit, Really?
Which is how you learn shit about whats going on with games, that core player base speaking about them, talking about, letting others know what changed, what go better.
This is why games need those mutherfukkers!
Good fucking Hell! The obviousness is so fucking glaring, how the hell dose anyone not realize this shit, and the value of having those core players!
This is exactly WHY games can't just piss them off and expect new players to strolling right the fuck on in and taking their place.
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.

Nobody is confined to the stuff coming out now. There are many other options available, with some of them being among the most highly regarded in the genre.
Nobody lacks standards. Everyone has standards that vary, sometimes such they are so different from one's own they are difficult to understand the having of.
The disconnect is simply variance in preference.
The only free games I have are those actually so. They were either made by hobbyists and provided on Steam at no cost or are commercial games given away by GoG for promotional purposes.

Earlier you said only players of the game know, hence my statement. Apparently that post simply had an error of omission being corrected in this one and we were in agreement on this all along.
The companies are aware some of their players are useful in this regard and some support content providers and there are those that do it independently. They are beneficial but not needed as companies also hire staff for the purpose of informing players about changes made and other customer relations duties.
Many companies can expect new players to stroll right in as they do. Low to no entry barriers are conducive to trying games personally. Forum posters act as ambassador's for some of them, often recommending trying out the free portion of GW2 or extended free trial of FFXIV. It's not like the old days where even trying out a MMORPG required an upfront expenditure.

But you don't know, do you? At best you have taken someone else's word for it, trusting their knowledge of the subject over your own, which to be honest, they no doubt know more then you or I on that matter
But Let's be honest, I have no idea if BDO's Cash Shop is better or worse then it used to be, and neither do you, in reality neither does anyone that was not playing the game and paying attention to it, We could both long in right now, and still have clue one way or another
So someone says "Oh it's better now" and fuck it, that's what we have to go on. So really, we don't know, we have second hand info, which, may or may not be accurate
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.
I think your best option before you spend your precious time and money on a game is to read the forums. The experiences of other players are golden.
For instance I learnt that unscrupulous players were deliberately hacking and destroying people's hard work of building and collecting pals on the official servers in Palworld. Hours of work wiped out in a few malicious minutes. It was almost every new thread when it launched. I therefore avoided playing on them. Invaluable information is always gleaned from other players.
For anything that you are spending time, the real precious thing over money, is to do some research. It cannot be avoided. It saves you so much misery. That time you lost you'll never get back. As I grow older the places where I spend my time has become something I carefully consider before wasting it.
Some developers are not forthcoming but other players who have a poor experience are. Just spend a little time to read about the game instead of wasting a lot of time playing and then leaving unhappy about your gaming experience. It definitely leads to less ulcers.

I have seen several players of BDO say so. There is no reason for me to believe that all of them are stating the same lie when none of them will derive benefit from that lie. That's was enough for me to mention such has been claimed. It wasn't enough for me to consider it proven true, as was show by my saying of what it could indicate if true.
Saying I've heard X said isn't me vouching for the truth of X.
What I can speak of with some certainty is the games I'm actively playing, and somewhat less so games I have played in the past.

Reading game forums is an excellent idea. I also watch a lot of player videos about games I'm interested in, both reviews and beginner guides, to get a better impression of what it's about and whether I would likely enjoy it. A bit of time beforehand can save a lot of it down the line.

You have taken some remarkably stupid hills to die recently.
I have to ask, what is your motive for this?

I can speak of games I currently play with certainty because my knowledge of them is direct and up to date. This is less true for games I have played but not recently as I may not be aware of all the changes made in my absence. For games I've barely played or have never at all I rely on that consistently said by those familiar with them.
To me that is a remarkably sensible hill to live on.

Why do you choose to live elsewhere?
Why yes.. that is a remarkably reasonable hill to be on, which is why I am Sitting on that Hill, enjoying the view
That is also why it boggles my mind, that when I took that stand, you opted to hook your wagon to some opposing stance, galivanting off into go off into lala land about how core players have no value, and you can know all there is to need to know by reading some blog post.

You're misrepresenting what I said, not that that is atypical for you. If you can manage to put that tactic aside, if for nothing else but the sake of novelty, perhaps we can have a decent exchange. I won't be getting my hopes up.
Actually, don't bother. This isn't your first time playing this game and I'm tired of it,

You’ll find Ungood is a very black and white/ linear thinker. That is why he thinks you are defending certain verbiage when all you are doing is pointing out what is obvious for people who take time to read it.
And that’s the crux of his argument, he needs it to be spelled out specifically.
To his argument “of course “ things should be stated crystal clear. But that’s not life. Doesn’t even mean people are being duplicitous, they might just see what they’re writing as obvious.

Congratz. Now you know why we all make fun of the people who play games. They always tell the devs they want something they hate in the end, and it ultimately ruins the game.
AI is going to fix all these unbalancing issues. Just you wait.

Black and white linearity suggests more a rejection of thought to me than a method of it. The other person in the discussion shouldn't need to determine the exact spoon that must be used so he will consume the perspective fed him.
I'm fine with people disagreeing with my views. That often makes for the most interesting discussion. But I'm not with what should be a collaborative process being an effort on my part only. So I must learn to disengage when such is the case to spare myself the frustration continuance will ultimately lead to.
Anyway...
Things should be stated clearly but as this is not always so one must be adept at piecing together that presented to clarify it if possible, or seek clarification if not.

That's not how it is.
People have varied tastes but some are them are more widely shared than others. Games that cater to those tastes most common will tend to the draw the most people. However, those games are not always well suited to those with less common preferences.
The people with those less popular desires are often better served by niche titles that cater to their particular wants. Games like that will of course attract less people but can still be profitable by offering a play experience not easily found elsewhere.
This is what allows games with much lower populations to coexist with the giants of the genre. Some people actually want what they offer and are happy or at least willing to pay for it such that what they enjoy can be profitable enough to endure.
Things should be stated clearly but as this is not always so one must be adept at piecing together that presented to clarify it if possible, or seek clarification if not.
This I agree with.

To his argument “of course “ things should be stated crystal clear. But that’s not life. Doesn’t even mean people are being duplicitous, they might just see what they’re writing as obvious.
I always enjoy your "Voice of Reason" posts

This discussion was about the value of Core Players to an MMO
I held the stand that Core Players are the most important aspect of an MMO's survival, they are the people that will build the community in and out of the game. They are the people that write guides, blogs, make videos, and engage on social media, keeping those outside of the game informed, as well as being the people that help newbs, do training runs, and overall are the lifeblood of the in-game community as well
KnightFalz took the stand they had no real value and that a company might be better off in some cases just seeking an endless cycle of new players.
You can look at his older posts, and it's laid out pretty clear, but I am sure after being called out on this stand because of how stupid it really is, he will backpedaled on this, like he has done in the past, and loge some false accusation in my direction or play the victim, yet again.
Also, when it comes to the discussion you are address, about game companies regarding my stand that they should be using clear, concise, and direct language to inform their potential costumers on the nature of their product.
You will see very clear that KnightFalz took the direct stand they were in the right to use deceiving, misguiding, and convoluted language, and that it was on purely upon the player to find out what the real deal is.
Which as you can see, they are backpedaling on, because it finally dawned on them how moronic that stand was, but as opposed to having the coping skills to just admit how stupid they were to fight me on this, they just turn around and deny they did so
The fact that they unironically proceeded to cry about their stand being misrepresented after defending the right of a company to use obscure and misleading language, is no doubt why so many people feel that the negative reputation of gamers being socially inept is well deserved.
I am sure they will throw a fit about this post as well, eh, so what, seems to be the way they roll anyway, first attack and then play the victim.
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.
Congratz. Now you know why we all make fun of the people who play games. They always tell the devs they want something they hate in the end, and it ultimately ruins the game.
AI is going to fix all these unbalancing issues. Just you wait.
I feel like you're an investor and the more stock on the shelf, the higher the stock on the exchange. I lived through the beginning of game balancing issues. I've been victimized by this very concept. I am correct. I am right. There are witnesses, gamers and proof all throughout this board. In the end, too much choice kills an industry. Its what's happened to this very industry.

Too much choice never killed anything. Too much lack of inspiration can, though.

I'm a player that's been around since back when UO, EQ and Asheron's Call took up retail shelf space. The only choice that can kill the gaming industry would be a universal rejection of it.

I used 'some' to account for the uncertain number of players so prone. But with many saying they can't find a MMORPG to play with so many available of varying nature there are at least a few that discriminating.
Yes we are discriminating, because the stuff coming out now is trash.
If my choices are:
A.) Put toothpicks under my fingernails
B.) Put nails under my fingernails
I am going to choose
C) Do neither of those actions (Why do I need to put those under my fingernails LOL)
Really!
Much easier and nicer to troll from beneath a nice dark bridge.

That is also why it boggles my mind, that when I took that stand, you opted to hook your wagon to some opposing stance, galivanting off into go off into lala land about how core players have no value, and you can know all there is to need to know by reading some blog post.
Now, in your defense, maybe... just maybe.. somewhere along this exchange you lost the script, and opted to just disagree with me for the sake of it, without realizing what that entailed, or how far down the Well of Stupid you were falling by doing so
You're misrepresenting what I said, not that that is atypical for you. If you can manage to put that tactic aside, if for nothing else but the sake of novelty, perhaps we can have a decent exchange. I won't be getting my hopes up.
Actually, don't bother. This isn't your first time playing this game and I'm tired of it,
