Big Choppas, Boars, kicking snotlings around, wearin 'eads on me armor, cutting beards off dwarves, riding a boar chariot through a bunch of humies, jumpin up and down on bones, burning cities and putting a big WAAAAGH! banner on captured forts, if there's no enemy to fight we fight eachother for fun, launching goblin spear chukkas and rock lobbers into enemies........ I could go on for a long time.
Oh and yelling WAAAAGH! as enemies start shaking as the boyz close in on em with their big choppas!

I suppose.. . I never really liked the Warhammer interpretation of Orcs to begin with, and when this mushroom idea surfaced, I was completely and iredeemably disgusted with the lameness of it all forever more.
If one of the classes ends up being sword masters of Hoeth or pheonix gaurd(like 2nd tier class prolly), count me in for high elves. I just hope they balance this well, Chaos daemon princes can get ridiculously overstacked, as anyone who played warhammer can tell you. Vampires would be even worse, I could imagine going into a battlefield up against a whole army of blood dragon vampires it would be disgusting. I would normally go for dark elves, i personally own a dark elf army and playing as a corsair or black gaurd would rock, but it seems like everyone is going to go chaos, whcih isnt surprising since so many people play them for the tabletop game as well.
I'll probably play chaos, simply because... That's what I play in DoW, though humans would be tempting because before certain rule changes I fielded an empire army (I miss Karl Franz -.-) However just an almost off-topic ramble on the lop-sidedness in the numbers, good vs evil:
Personally, I find it good that the "dark side" will have a larger population, if the trends in this poll are true for the entire playerbase that WAR will command. There are two reasons for this, that is from an RP perspective and a PvP one.
RP perspective:
Generally, the evil guys outnumber the good guys. However for the most part, the majority of the evil army is less disciplined/skilled/high-spirited than the good guys. In the Warhammer universe, especially considering the Orks, this is true (not to say they aren't skilled at cutting humies in two with one blow). In most scenarios in Warhammer the evil side is commanding an overwhelming and/or unstoppable force that more than likely will crush what puny resistance the good guys can muster. So the current trend towards the darker side, is a good thing from this perspective.
PvP perspective:
To draw on an example from the earlier days of WoW (boo, hiss, etc), when the server populations were very lopsided. The Alliance outnumbered the Horde by an extreme ammount on some servers (on others, a moderate ammount), however in general, especially in 1vs1 or controlled group circumstances (ie equal numbers) the Horder were much better when it came to PvP. This may have been either because they were used to having to go that extra mile in PvP to defend themselves while lvling, or simply that the more "hardcore" players, went for the underdog. Whichever, it barely impacted on their performance in PvP (bar zerging... Alliance was able to draw the numbers easier). Generally I've found that the underdogs on average have a higher standard of play, simply because otherwise, there would be no one playing that side anymore (due to getting their butts kicked all over the place).
Before anyone jumps, I played Alliance.
I think even if outnumbered, the PvP will remain fairly even, with or without Dev intervention.
your RP perspective is substantially correct, but is not gonna apply to WAR.
The players of the game will play as they damn please, so we can't really rely on the Chaos forces to well... be chaotic .
Your pvp perspective is also substantially correct and more fitting i think. I noticed the same thing in WoW as you did, Alliance tended to be less organized and efficient in combat so that in fair situations (like the battlegrounds) where you can't bring overwhelming numbers to the table, Horde tended to do better.
This of course applied only to pick up groups, Guild-only group are as organized as the guild manages to be.

At the moment im thinking of a goblin! I generally think most people will go as the "bad guys" (orcs, chaos, dark elves) but I hope the teams are even or It may ruin the game for me. Anyway looks like a great new online game!
Originally posted by oOko Im going greenskin personally, I think the goblins look awsome. Just hope that there isnt way more greenskins than anything else.
Why not? it's that way in Warhammer, I mean they reproduce by growing up in the floor of a cave, or in someone's shoe!
They are, storywise, the most plentiful race because they are fungus. For me it would be great to see more Orcs & Goblins than anything else because it would be awesome. I love the fact that every other race has a female except O&G because of the story. And that the "Female" equivilant is actually a Goblin!!
I may be switching the type of race I play, although I voted Chaos, I may be playing Orcs & Goblins, although I can't decide which one.
Well here are some points I and my team are making.
We hate kids
we hate noobs
So we are thinking that Kids and teens will want to see "HAWT CHIKZ" and play as elves. As most kids only care about damage0rz damage0rz pwnpwnpwn there will prob be a huge influx of Elvish Female Archers and Rogues (kinda like WoW)
And in every game where you can choose sides, the common person, no casual... I mean common, picks the Good/human side. Albion and Alliance had such a huge amount of people it watered down the talent pool when it came to pvp.
so I want to be whatever keeps me away from these 2 factions the most. but seeing as CHAOS is the leading vote getter, and Dark Elves a close 2nd I am thinking now I may have to bring my team over to the dwarven side. We have setteled on Orc/goblin so far since its the most like Midgard/Horde and will most likly be melee based. We plan on going back to the same old template we have been using for the past 10 years we have been online gaming together. Load up on Tanks, Find 2 casters that support insted of Fry, have lots of support classes and just say NO to stealther classes and any class that can function on its own outside a group easily. But if every noob in the country is playing CHaos and Darkelves we may have to fecect to the "other" melee race which will be dwarves.

That or I'm speaking out of my ass.
yes. Empire (Humans), Dwarves, High Elves for Order
Chaos, Greenskins (orks+goblins) and dark elves for Chaos

Human hands down. Someone has to rid the realm of Chaos taint!
But where the hell are the screenshots of Humans???
Lizard men woooooo, well maybe in expansions, for now Da boyz for me, ORCS
(I also collect lizardmen in Warhammer fantasy Me wanna ride a cold one)
<---- I'm not that bad if you get to know me lol
I've played enough DAoC to know that Mythic does well by their gamers when they can.
I'm a little wary of the whole con by sight thing, I played another game (I think it was RYL) that had con by knowledge.... Didn't like it.
If they have a backup system like color in the target stat window I'd be cool with that.
Does your guild have a website yet? Find out how easy it is to get one.
