Does this mean that you want another 2 1/2 years of the same old stuff?

I was enjoying the game.  It wasn't "old stuff".

Can you really be all that surprised that there is such a strong reaction to it? Emotions are high. Tension is great. A lot of people feel betrayed by SOE for pulling a stunt like this. I would be willing to bet most are jeleous that anyone is enjoying the game they once enjoyed and suddenly lost.

I do not disagree. I think this is exactly the problem. Of course, the issue becomes where do we go from here? These people are upset. They are taking it out on the wrong people and through the wrong actions. I think we passed the "understanding" moratorium three weeks ago and now we just need to start kicking their asses.

They are taking it out on SOE/LA.  Who better to take it out on than the ones that caused it?

Now..they protest and want the pepporoni back. They want to know why the veggies couldnt have just been added, why replace what was good when it could have been added and been more?

No, the don't protest. They find a different pizza joint or even try the veggies and see if it is still good, albeit in a different way. I've NEVER seen someone protest a change in menu. I didn't see people hanging around outside McDonalds when the McRib was gone. I personally was saddened when Taco Bell stopped doing the Cheesy Gordita Crunch, but I didn't call the manager's home phone number and leave threats on his answering machine.

It is OKAY to be upset, but to express this anger through such utter irresponsible and destructive means is way past the point where I'm willing to give anyone leeway. The second you stop being a rational correspondant and start being a troll is the SECOND your opinion stops being important.

You pretty much missed that whole pizza analogy didn't you?  It wasn't about a real pizza place.  It was about SWG.

Why couldn't the good parts of the NGE have been added with the current game? Why did it have to totally replace? That's what has a lot of people ultimately mad imo.

Because people disagree on what the good parts are (I like the combat system, not everybody does), and many of the changes are incompatible with whatever system it replaces. The 9 profession system is a good idea, and in time it will pay off. But that is completely incompatible with the way merchants and crafting were set up previously. You can't have one and not the other. You'd prefer some of the changes, but nobody can agree on which changes.

And at this point, over a month after the NGE was announced, it is way past the point where calls for rollbacks should be happening. The NGE has happened. This will not change. Either you get used to this and help make the NGE part of a brighter future for SWG or you leave the game. Sitting in forums and complaining about it's not going to make any difference at this point.

Aactually, complaining about it on forums is EXACTLY what needs to be done.  Its one way to get SOE to see the errors in their ways (you can bet SOE has guys watching gamer forums).  My account as well as about another 100+ from my guild are all canceled.  That would be the other way of getting SOEs attention.  The only sad thing is how you guys that are sticking around are affected by it.  Honestly though...I'm not going to play a game I don't like so that you can have SWG as you like...maybe if you pay for my acocunt I would be willing to log in from time to time to keep the game running. image

Hate to break it to you, but holding the button down slows your rate of fire and also has to be reset each time the pointer moves off the target. If you dueled me and held the button down...you would be dead long before I was worried about healing. Much to learn of the NGE you have. image

That I doubt very much. A least my carbine fires at an incredible speed when I hold down the button - which I could never ever reach by clicking.

Anyway, agree in PvP or against a mob with the crazed kiting AI its not as straight forward as holding the button down.  Although its certainly not constant clicking, which I feel was more his point.

The firing system was intentionally designed to shoot faster with rapid clicking over holding the button down...been that way since I got onto TC the night it hit.  As for a slow weapon...considering the carbines I have were top of the line PVP/PVE weapons....it wouldn;t surprise me if they are junk now.  I knew I should have sold that BOthan carbine for 10Mil when I had the chance. image  Its no better than a CDEF carbine now. image  I sure am glad I spent days running that quest.

Better start working on those finger reflexes then.  image  This isn't Curb....its all about fast reflexes now...faster action packed more Star Warsy remember?

Most weapon are rubbish now.  I was one of  few on my server with the Kaminoan Great Staff.  Debatably the hardest sequence of quests to obtain and was the best post-CU lance in the game.  Now its a CL54 weapon with lesser stats than the Kashyyyk bladestick, which is one of the easiest to get.  Despite that the quests are still the same.  All of my best weapons, which either cost a lot of time to obtain or cost a lot in credits are now the worst I have.  While weapons that I had just lieing around as junk surpass them.

You would definitely need to be hit by lighting to be able to fire faster than some weapons on auto.  The CDEF pistol you get from the tutorial just being one.

    Hi all,

If you are still bothering to read this far down the forum, thank you!

SWG has taken many turns in it's lifetime. It's gone through more changes and updates to gameplay than any other MMO I've ever known. I feel that the game would have gone down if it wernt for the franchise of Star Wars backing it up, but onto my real opinion

This new combat update has two sides to it, as we all know. In many aspects I do like it better, sort of would have been nice had they started down this path at launch though. At first I was displeased by how many classes they killed, the biggist of all being creature handler. I really really think they could have gotten the class to work on the new system, but than again they had just bearly fixed most the bugs to the class when they announced this new drastic change.

If the game undergoes some major bug fixes, and the team tries to fix the problems instead of making another new game, I feel this could last. I enjoy the gameplay itself, just think it needs some tweaking. Just as an example, Jedi is too static a class, it's all streamline now adays. It be nice if they added in a 'dark' or 'light' path, and emplament force push and all those fancy lightside abilities. BH should be able to hunt other players, like smugglers and jedi, and if they wanted to they could make it so those of us who enjoy playing cat and mouse can implament it, and those afraid of it can avoid it.

Bottom line, it's a neat game, I can't predict if it's going to last or not, the darkside clouds all right now, too unpredictable a path does it walk. If you're board, give it a shot, that's what I did and I have to admit it's not as bad as people were making it out to be (but that doesn't mean it comes close to my expectations of what it SHOULD be, it just comes clsoe to my expectations for the SWG SOE team:-P)

dont mean for this to sound like a flame but this was one of the reasons i hated combat so much

wtf since when does holding down a button make combat more fun...... IMO the combat still looks like its turn-based just EXTREMELY sped up and now u have to aim with ur mouse....

What your are talking about is merely a question of personal perception - I tried both a really fast carbine - and be assured, you can not click faster than the auto-fire rate of this thing - and a moderatly slow rifle. No matter how fast I clicked the rifle fired at a constant speed.

Wrong lol when you hold the button down you fire as fast as possible. And for myself at least, when the mouse moves off the target and goes back on you start firing again.

That thing about CDEF being just as good as a high end weapon is just hearsay. My PA leader did an actual test, using a CDEF he killed a mob in 30 seconds and with a high end weapon he killed it in 15.

In order to use the high end weapon, you must be higher level, which is now everything that matters.

So if you are a level 1 with a CDEF carbine, you kill it in 30 seconds. If you are level 24 with a dlt-20, you kill it in 15.

There is a FRAPS on the boards of a guy using a damaged rifle with 1-1 damage and killing stuff for big damage.  Damage is bugged and based on your level..more along the lines that Wepps is talking about.  In fact, your PA leaders test doesn't even agree with Wepps comment...who I am far more likely to believe in regards to guns in this game. :|
