A friend was in IRC and the whole explanation given was to delay five days so that people with slow connections would have an oppurtunity to download the game.
The main issue is how insulting they are with their fabrications.
The excuse they give is we would rather be made into liars about a date we set then to have a small percentage of the community not to be able to play for a day or two becuase there connections are slow....so the whole community can wait five days to play instead... and once again we will be made to look like idiots who don;t know our ass from a hole in the ground.
If they cared about people being able to download the game early they would have made it available five days ago so they wouldn't be (once again) made into liars by missing the Decemeber 8th date that they themselves set.
And if they intended to have the server come up on the 13th why not share that with the community sometime before....hmmm the day you said you were gonna have it available? Becuase they are full of crap and have no idea what they are doing from moment to moment. If you doubt that look at the skill list that took a month to write and 9 hours to translate... (even though it wasn't posted on the french forums on time either.... wonder what the excuse was there).
In a poll being conducted on the DnL website over 65% people responded that they just laughed when they saw the skill list.
It's a train wreck I just can't tear my eyes away from.
The reason the DnL team is treating us like this is because they can. Them and every other video game company out there. For that matter, every company on the planet. There are no check or balances for them. We, as consumers, allow this behavior. If our $400.00 DVD player breaks after a year of use, we just buy a new one. If a game keeps getting delayed, we will still buy it. (I have my copy of HL2.) If a game sucks, we are stuck with it. (I have my copy of SWG.) We can all cry about what is wrong with a company, but until we get out of our have-it-now mentality and stop buying things from companies that have regard for us (I have some Sony stuff.) we will continue to be treated like dirt. Nothing is going to change as long as the profits are right. That is the society we live in. See some of you in SoG, and the rest of you I will see in DnL.

No, at least since late November it said "SoG starts Dec 8th". To anyone that means, "Dec 8th you could log in and play". It wasn't until Dec 8th that they suddenly swithced to "SoG registers today, downloads tomorrow, and starts 5 days from now.. oh, and the server will only be up 4.7 days a week, that's what we meant by 'limited resources' Stay tuned for more delays after they happen!".

i'm way beyond caring what others think of me, i do my own thing.....and my college eduacation never taught me about UTC or anyother timezones(so i dont blame anyone); i learned timezones from playing online games; i know more about timezones than most people(cept for yall kids), but do not mistake my honesty for weakness and proceed to mildly flame me....regardless, they still shoulda used GMT, cuz everyone knows that...
