Actually, I think gameplay should be its own reward. Also, handing out "I win" buttons in exchange for all their free time only serves to ruin the game for more casual gamers.

If the reward for the Jedi grind was a toon with lightsaber/force powers, but that was equal in power with the other professions, then you would have seen Jedi populations somewhere near where they are supposed to be for this timeline.

It wasn't the introduction of Jedi that hurt SWG, it was the introduction of a 10x powerful alpha-class that required a mind-numbing grind so that people were pulled out of the actual game to do their grinds, and ruined the game for others when they finally came back to it with their overpowered toons.

Oh, and to go back to the "we put so much time to get a jedi.. we deserve the moon."

    That's crap.

I owned a jedi that was created COMPLETELY AFK. Sold it for a pretty penny too... sure not thousands, but great for post-cu prices.

So if I put that much time and work into it why shouldn't I be just a little stronger than any other mastered profession?

Why? Because it makes for unbalanced and unfun gameplay.

Also, Jedi do not always win 1 v 1 in SW canon (even more, General Grevious could kill multiple Jedi solo.) It always depended on the opponent, the Jedi's actual training, and the strength of connection the Jedi had to the force. Add to this that the "Jedi" of this timeline have had not formal Jedi training (as the Jedi pwning everything in the movies have had), and that they "unlocked" their force powers well into adulthood (many of the Jedi in the movies/literature have been honing their force powers from childhood) and there is no realistic reason why the Jedi we play as characters should be even remotely as powerful as those found on the big screen.

I think people complaining about the loss of Jedi pwnage power are more concerned with the absence of the "I win" button they grinded their brains out for and less about the actual lore of the Jedi.

I finally ran my tail off and got to a shuttle. Once I got out of there and after 90 mins of this, BOTH BHs sent me a tell and said what a GREAT fight it was. You think that they could have had that kind of fight/battle with any other profession? I seriously doubt it. I miss those days.

Now wouldn't that tell have given you even more pride had your alpha-toon not given you a 10:1 power advantage over them?

Both Shayde and duggo are 2 people that aren't willing to put many months of work into getting something. They cry because someone is STRONGER than them ... well let me let them in on something ... the NGE should be right up your alley boys ... all cookie cutter professions and NO ONE is stronger than someone else. And look where the game is. In the fricking sewer. That "someone" ( meaning anyone in any profession) that is stronger than someone else prolly 1.) mastered the right rofessions or 2.) got the right buffs or 3.) the right armor or 4.) the right weapons or 5.) the right clothing attachment or 6.) the right armor attachments or 7.) the right food or 8.) the right drink or 9.) used the right skills. There is NO fricking way you can balance a MMO 1v1 and if you two haven't figured it out yet then it is your problem. There is TOO much that goes into PvP and you dont make the effort, don't come a cryin'.

And as far as the battle i described you need to read it son. They had a BLAST and so did I, even if no one got incapped. There was NO way in hell i could have beaten 2 BHs if I stood toe to toe with them. READ the post fool before you speak. I believe it said I RAN from them after battling it out?????  I eventually got to a shuttle to escape them????????? Daaa .... can you read????

And Shayde you never had a jedi ... I can tell by the way you are talking. There isnt ANY jedi that sold on Ebay for more than a few hundred bucks ... where you get this thousands crap I will never know.

An MMO is a GROUP ORIENTATED GAME NOT A 1v1 game. The balancing is done with the different professions that make up a group. If you 2 where around when SWG was released you may have seen the 20 man groups. At this point I am beginning to wonder if you even played it at all.

BTW Shady ... I never asked for the moon. I said Jedi needs to be a little stronger than any other profession. But that is too much for you cuz you need to be uber wirh out putting any effort into it.

LoL. You seem to be the only one getting emotional here, Sago. ::::39::

For the record, I did the village grind for my Jedi. It was many months of "work" (if mind numbing repetative grinding can be considered real work) and I was dedicated enough to it that my friends and girlfriend were getting rather pissed at me for my sudden anti-social turn.

So the willingness to "work" for something isn't what seperates us, Sago, it's the need you have to cling to artificial advantages over other players.

I'm fine with people being stronger than others -- it's life, in and out of the game world. But I believe power should be based on skill. I'm not all that happy with alpha-classes that give people, who would otherwise be losers, big "I win" buttons.

Apparently, you think that #1 on your list should trump #'s 2 - 9. In your world, rationalized beyond reason I'm sure, a bountyhunter who got the right buffs, got the right armor, the right weapons, the right CA's/AA's, the right food and drinks, and used the right skills should lose to your Jedi everytime, simply because you stared blankly at the screen in spin groups killing lairs for months on end (if, in fact, you didn't do the whole grind AFK -- as many alpha-clingers did). It was you that said, "Jedi are the top of the food chain and should always win 1 vs 1", right?  (Despite the fact that this isn't even true in the movies.)

You want to remove the skill out of PvP and make it a "whoever grinds first, wins" match-up. That's fun?

Group play has no bearing on, nor brings any justification for, an alpha-class. Especially when becoming an alpha-class lessens the dependency on having a group. Be careful when you grasp at straws, Sago.

I pre-ordered the game and played it at launch.
