Recently CSRs have been given the abilities to start up Live events on the servers in different locations in the game. On Chilastra we've had a droid invasion on Theed, NS invasion on Dath Science OP, Death Watch invasion on Smug OP on Endor, Rebel invasion on Coronet and today a Imperial invasion on Anchorhead. These are all thanks to CSR-KeithR (who is a top guy ). I've only managed to get to the NS invasion one and todays as the others were at times when I wasn't on
There is no prior knowledge of these events, you just get a RP system message that an event is taking place at XX city as the event is created. Todays AH event was done at 12am EST on weekday and the place was completely packed. There was at least 100 people there, which resulted in framerate lag that I haven't had since the early days in Coronet. As they say, pictures speak more then words, so here's a set of pics AND a short video (well, more a slideshow ) for your viewing pleasure

So u mean the game is fun again ? dont think so
NGE is still in the game and that needs to go away before i am comingback.
Plus all the other major cites like cnet, theed, MO at dant - they would all be full of poeple buffing, doing trades, getting missions and the cantinas actually were packedwith poeple in them.
Those pics do no convince me that the servers arent dead lol.
Nice pics, looks like fun.
But yeah, it does bring back memories, kinda looked like a normal day in theed starport pre-cu :P
For the Horde!
I think we all know server numbers aren't that healthy, and nowhere near the old days... As Obraik is our main contact for finding out, maybe we could get some screenies of each planets main spaceport at 9 o'clock peak hours playing time???
With the new publishes replacing some of the old content, i have to say i may see Chimaera again. Summers coming and sitting in my room with a nice warm breeze, cold beer and some stormies to twat appeals greatly. And if new/old content makes the game playable again, numbers will increase.
So, with nothing to prove, Obraik please do the rounds and give us some honest screenies.
On a second note, by remapping keys and with the new target lock, how close to pre-NGE will the gameplay become?
It's good to see they have CS doing events again like they used too a LONG time ago. That really makes a difference in a game.
I will meet ya half way and say the servers are not dead Obraik however I will say they are a significant amount lighter then they were post CU before the NGE.

You know Chilastra Server used to jamm big time when I played during the Era of SWG. Those Pics are nice, wish Chilastra was still main stream and without the NGE system.
All this time Obraik and really never paid attention to your sig LOL, but damn, you play on the server I played on. LOL small world..
When did you start on Chilly?
With as many peeps it had, still I couldnt remember everyone.
Nice choice in server though
I think it proves the point many of us have been saying. There are people out there, you just don't see them because there's no reason for them all to be in the same spot anymore until something like this happens and they come out of the woodwork
{(RIP)} SWG
Yes, the servers are pretty "Dead". Do a little objective research on the official galaxy forums for each server. The number of people seeking guilds and guilds seeking players is a fraction of what they were in the past. In addition, the the overall activity on the forums shows the same decline.
When even Smed says a server merge may be needed, you know the servers are dead.

I remember back before when AH used to always be packed, with constant battles going on between AH and bestine (on bria).Plus all the other major cites like cnet, theed, MO at dant - they would all be full of poeple buffing, doing trades, getting missions and the cantinas actually were packedwith poeple in them. Those pics do no convince me that the servers arent dead lol.

Obraik, with all kind of respect, but the population IS, compared to pre-NGE, dead.
This has nothing to do with one server, one event gathering an amount of peoples which were present on EVERY starport before NGE - all over the place.
THe population is "dead" is measured in numbers, in subcriptions, in concurrent logins.
And THESE numbers are not even remotly "good" - thats why SoE patched their servers after these poor numbers were published, remember ?
Sure, there ARE people on the SWG servers nowadays. But please accept that every vet, used to pre-NGE population will always talk about "dead" seeing the game today.
Its not important if there are 23 /who people or 38 or 17: put a "1" or even "2" in front of that and we talk about pre-nge numbers.
Please see Lucas Art and SoE's acting these days, all their surveys, their summits, their this-and-that:
They are NOT doing it because the servers are full...

First I dont see "at least 100" in those pics. Maybe 30 to 40 tops. But not 100. Lets give you the benefit of the doubt here however. Pre-CU had 100 players at 12AM in Daeric without an event having to happen just milling about. And places like Cnet would have 200+.
I saw this same event on my server just before I got banned. Happened about 7PM. And yes we had about 100 players per location as well. Two of my friends were at different sites. We had Rebs attacking the IO on Dant, NS attacking Theed, Krayts walking through Bestine, Tuskens attacking Mos Eisley, and Imps attacking Cnet. Really nice especially after you add it up and realize that if the majority was there then its only about 500 players total on a server that can hold 3k.
SOE will never tell us exact numbers when they are low. Back when they had alot of players they had no problem telling us how many were on. Now they dont have alot so they wont say anything.
The only other question is why the force witches of Dathomir are on another planet. Last time I checked there was an Imperial Blockade for a reason in Dathomir Space. To keep them from leaving the planet. Oh well. I guess the Empire is beyond inept. Since Darth Vader never really killed any jedi then the Imperial Blockade of Dathomir must have been done with paper capital ships.

reminds me of the good ol days with the Bestine vs. Anchorhead raids..

So what are you trying to prove, that they are not literally dead? Fine, they are not literally dead. Hell! There could be only one person left in this whole damn game and it wouldn't be literally dead, yet you wouldn't consider them alive either if there was only 1 other person playing. Just like when you look at these pictures and compare them to pre-cu, SWG IS AS DEAD AS DISCO!
SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!

Please note, both you and others that have commented: I did not say anything about the number of people there being better then pre-cu For the record though, SOE has NEVER said how many people are online at one time. What I am saying though is that this shows that Chilastra at least is definetly not dead like people here seem to be saying. To those that are still saying "wow, that's dead" please go look up dead in the dictionary
I can assure you, there was WAY more people there then 30-40 people, my computer doesn't lag that bad with that amount (look at the video to see what it was like). I'm pretty confident that there was at least 100 people there. Chilastra is an eastern server and alot of people had already gone to bed by then (I know nearly all of my guild had) since it was 12am on a weeknight, so yes I think that's very decent number of people considering. That certainly wasn't everyone who was online either since most of those people are lvl 90s and I had people on my friendlist who were not there.
As for the NS thing, the latest events involving them have all been on Dathomir, the only time they have left was I think sometime in pre-cu and last Halloween.

But we have seen the hacked numbers from a Friday night, and I think they are a better indicator than just "how bad your computer lags", specially considering you are in New Zeland. Why didn't you do a /who to see how much you would come up? Sorry, but you brought this upon yourself. You titled your post "Servers are dead eh?" and for a MMORPG with the Star Wars name on it, knowing the amounts of people that we could have at one place pre-cu (didn't have to be a special event mind you, just hanging out!) and knowing the hacked numbers.... YES, IT'S DEAD!
SOE knows what you like... You don't!

Nobody would worry about population, nobody would be posting screenshots, proving how there's people still playing. Everyone knew that SWG was not the largest game out there, but population was solid.
And that is the problem. People have never felt the need to state the obvious. So why is there such a drive to prove there's still people in the game. We know there are. We know popular areas get busy. But many remember how it was before. But most of us don't have pictures of daily events, since we took them for granted. Nobody made screnies and said "wow, I need to make this screenshot of cnet just in case population ever drops so I can show how it was"
I still play the game today.... I use to play everyday for 1-3 hours before NGE... now I goes days before I login to play just for 20 mins.
Wow... it now takes a server event to notice another player ingame.
Used to have that number in Theed eveyday... then you travel to Dantooine and see the same thing, then mos eisley...
Now it is a server message "EVERYONE COME HERE!!! CONTENT ALERT!!!"
I think it is MORE telling that that's the ONLY players that would show up. That few? In the old days the SERVER WOULD CRASH if they had the same announcement.
