You have got to be joking. First off, I count no more than 35 different people in your screenies, and I did compare names. There are 2 times the NPC's as there are players. You are either a VERY bad counter, or your stretching the truth... hmmmmm... Looking at the radar, it doesn't look like more than 35-50 people.

If you want to see a real Live Event, I have pics of a NS invasion of Theed. It shows:

    • Rancors & Kimo's fighting.
    • Giant NS Spiders fighting.
    • Faction Pets.
    • Cool animations.
    • 6 Jedi (it was Pre-CU).
    • OVER 200 players.

One screenie is so full that all you see are heads and jumbled names (they were going after the NS Queen).

I also haveScreenies from a DW invasion inside the Theed palace. It was on a Monday night, and not in front of a SP and it still had over 100 people.

Please Ob, this is prime Fanboi. Look, there aren't anywhere near 100 peep's there, but if you're having fun, fine. Stop trolling and go enjoy the game. It's a joke compared to what it used to be, but if you like to be the punchline, fine. I really am happy for you, but all you're doing is making yourself look like a fool by comparing this to Pre-CU. When a system event happens now, everyone goes, even Ent's (I have Ent friends that still play). That's the only time the can see multiple peeps. Now that's sad...

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

You GOT to be kidding me Obraik??????

    This is what I see:

    1. this is a planned event
    2. notice went out at least a week in advance for MOST planned events. Usually longer. So EVERYONE knows the event is scheduled.
    3. People are hungry for something to do so MOST people will show up for an event like this due to the lack of stuff to do currently in the game.

    PreCU:

    1. I saw that many people on a regular night in AH preCU ... not prime time.
    2. In player events that were scheduled during preCU when there were LOTS of new stuff for people to investigate, it would be common to see at least 400 people participating.

You might have 200 people here at this scheduled event.

It is still sad, but does show there are people willing to still play this game even on a part time basis.

BTW ... last weekend at some point I observered the servers looking like this:

25 servers, 8 were at medium and 17 were at light.

    Your server was at medium.

I can understand the OP's optimism, it's nice to see a busy screenie in the NGE.

But the thought of click, click, clicking still holds no interest for me and most of the other vets I'm guessing.

I can assure you, there was WAY more people there then 30-40 people, my computer doesn't lag that bad with that amount (look at the video to see what it was like).  I'm pretty confident that there was at least 100 people there.  Chilastra is an eastern server and alot of people had already gone to bed by then (I know nearly all of my guild had) since it was 12am on a weeknight, so yes I think that's very decent number of people considering.  That certainly wasn't everyone who was online either since most of those people are lvl 90s and I had people on my friendlist who were not there.

As for the NS thing, the latest events involving them have all been on Dathomir, the only time they have left was I think sometime in pre-cu and last Halloween.

But we have seen the hacked numbers from a Friday night, and I think they are a better indicator than just "how bad your computer lags", specially considering you are in New Zeland.  Why didn't you do a /who to see how much you would come up?  Sorry, but you brought this upon yourself.  You titled your post "Servers are dead eh?"  and for a MMORPG with the Star Wars name on it, knowing the amounts of people that we could have at one place pre-cu (didn't have to be a special event mind you, just hanging out!) and knowing the hacked numbers....  YES, IT'S DEAD!

Those numbers mean very little.  For a start they're now 2 months old, 2nd it was one night at a certain time, 3rd there is no way to compare those numbers to something from before other then what people say they saw (which is what you're critiscing me here for ).  Yes, I'm sure they're lower then before, but there is no idea of how much (could be 50, 100 or 1000).  When I say lag in this case, I'm talking about framerate lag which has nothing to do with where I'm located or what my ping is.   /who would have been useless since it lists no more then 32 people, which there certainly way.  Saying that it's dead because it does not live up to the numbers you believe a Star Wars MMO should have does not hold, sorry.  Number are numbers, and before WoW this would have been considered a fairly high population.

Lastly, people were in Coronet back in the days for a special event: to get buffed.  Socialising was a side effect (which is one reason there were buffs in the first place).  The reason people are here in this case is no different.  It's not like people decided ahead of time that they would be online to be at this event, because there was no warning of it.

I've only managed to get to the NS invasion one and todays as the others were at times when I wasn't on :(
There is no prior knowledge of these events, you just get a RP system message that an event is taking place at XX city as the event is created.  Todays AH event was done at 12am EST on weekday and the place was completely packed.  There was at least 100 people there, which resulted in framerate lag that I haven't had since the early days in Coronet.  As they say, pictures speak more then words, so here's a set of pics AND a short video (well, more a slideshow :p) for your viewing pleasure

I always respected what you say, even though you are on a different side of the argument from mine.  But I didn't think you'd stoop so low as to flamebaiting.   You know this topic always brings controversy, specially when you blatanly name it like that!  You know damn well that THE SERVERS ARE DEAD when you compare them to pre-cu.  There are not 100 people there, and even then, I've seem more people than that on the Coronet cantina on a Wednesday during off-hours.

So what are you trying to prove, that they are not literally dead?  Fine, they are not literally dead.  Hell!  There could be only one person left in this whole damn game and it wouldn't be literally dead, yet you wouldn't consider them alive either if there was only 1 other person playing.  Just like when you look at these pictures and compare them to pre-cu, SWG IS AS DEAD AS DISCO!

I would not say a post such as this is flamebaiting . His title also makes perfect sense given the context of his message . As far as I know still once a week even more people come out .For a scheduled PVP event put together by players on bloodfin , And they also do a damn good job of planning scenarios IMO .

It really boils down to an existence of a community . If there is still a strong bond between players , I see no reason why they should feel their game is dead .Atleast on bloodfin they (which i will comment on soley because it is where i played)  Play the game as it was originally intended , using a community to create your own content (GCW) I don't know what strengths remain among Chillastra 's(SP) community . But if it is anything like bugfins ,  He has every right to defend it .

Looks like a fun event.  I haven't seen more than 3 or 4 people in AH, even on Bria, in a long time.  Wasn't Chilastra one of the more populated servers at one time?  No question Pre-Cu on any server at high noon or midnight, AH would have been oozing people at such an event. Fun to see the vid, sad too.

Next time, ask the few hundred that play, how many of them have a station acces account, and get SWG for free. When I had my Acces I was in at times as well. Ok, not more than an hour, the game is so messed up I rather played Planetside, but still.

To find people payng money only to play SWG today... Very few are that desperate. But hey, I am glad you finally feel you are not alone in the world. Not much to brag about, but hey, anything to make you feel good.

Those numbes do not mean very little, they are in fact more truthful than anything SOE has said.  And in case you didn't notice, you are repeating the same crap Smed said about them.  Hence why SOE has now covered that little window into their soul.  And I'm sorry, but you are seriously lying to yourself here.  If we took WoW out of the picture, the numbers SWG has now are pathetic no matter what standard you use.  They can't compare them to what CoH/CoV has, Lineage 1 and 2, Guild Wars, Final Fantasy, Everques, Everquest 2, etc...  Hell!  Even EVE is beating the crap out of SWG.  So like you say, numbers are numbers.  Specially when you consider that SWG  is using a powerhouse name like Star Wars.

And your argument that buffing was a special even doesn't hold water either.  Buffing was a game mechanic that PRODUCED socializing...   And I don't know much about game programming or producing, but if I was making a MMO, I'd want that to happen.  Now, like Shayde says, you have to scream and shout over the whole server "Hey, lookie here, some content!" just to gather 10 people in one place.

SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!

esp. on the third screenshot is not a single particle effect or any other optical effect to see.

Why is your framerate that low (5-7 FPS) ?

In Pre-CU you could find twice that many people at the Imp. theme park on a Sunday morning. If that's all ya got, it's even worse off that I thought.

that's cool that they do that, but you know they wouldn't be able to do that Pre-Cu. there would be a lot more than 100 people there if a system message said there was something going on at x city.

Just because it's Star Wars does not mean it has to be big.  Not all Star Wars fans are gamers.  WoW is based on Warcraft, 100% of it's target market are gamers.

That's pretty much what I said, buffing was the reason for the socialising.  It was forced socialising because as soon as the buffing was gone, few people went out of their way to seek out the socialising part.  That's really no different to what you're saying this event was

You  know, I'd be skeptical too, if it weren't for two people I know and trust, who have no history of exaggeration  having told me that Chimeara was thriving.  If Chimeara is doing well, maybe Chilastra is too.  Granted, I wish the game would just die, but this doesn't mean that it's dead just yet.

I really don't see how this could be flamebait.  Obraik sees this as good news and wants to let people who MIGHT want to play that at least on his server, something that might be neat is happening still.  Yeah, I had some less than noble thoughts about this, considering the fact that this wasn't something that fit my desires, but it's kinda meanspirited to step on his genuine enthusiasm.

It's not like he insulted us refugees.
