If You Love SWG, You Should Quit. NOW.

jonakujonaku Member Posts: 281

For all you SWG subscribers who continue to subscribe and complain and hope for a better tomorrow, you ARE the very worse thing to happen to SWG. You are singlehandledly responsible for the continuing slow death of this game. Why? Because your subscriptions continue to fund the incompetence at SOE. You're like the mother who continues to let her alcoholic heroine-addicted son live in her basement for 10 years and then wonders why he doesn't spontaneously get a life and get a job. It's called ENABLEMENT people.

When I see those posts on swg.com complaining about NGE bugs or lack of features, it truly sickens me. These people are complete and utter morons.

If you love the game, you should quit it and stay quitted until the game goes bankrupt and SOE/LA have NO FINANCIAL CHOICE but to give the license to another company or do a mea culpa roll-back.

Until then, I say the greatest enemy, the greatest parasitic plague on the once great pre-CU SWG are the current subscribers.

So...you choose to ingnore the fact that LA have publicly stated in many places around the internet that the licenses has NOT and will NOT be given to anyone else?  Also the statements from both LA and SOE that the game is not being cancelled?

If SOE lost the license or not is pretty much irrelevant at this point. Ether you like playing this POS they call a game or you don’t. Ether you feel cheated or you don’t care.

I must say the OP is right in one thing. Those that hate the NGE and hope for a reintroduction of pre-CU/CU should just quit now. SOE has stated they will move on with the current system and by still subscribing people just prolong the final shutdown of the game. It’s a patient on life support and the sad truth is there is no miracle treatment that is going to revive SWG.

I played through CU hoping they would get the ship on the right keel. When NGE came out I tried to see anything good but I didn’t.
If you have played since NGE hit and still hate it you will never like it whatever they do.

    100% QFE

Regarding the licence - and as much as we all wish that another company takes over:
Every rumor is no rumor anymore when its demented (or confirmed).

Despite we all know their lies, the most "weight" this time has LA/SOE saying "not true".
Till the day they ANNOUNCE the takeover, we have to "live" with their truth - if we like or not.

And this is where the OP comes back:
If you dont like - CANCEL, like i did the day NGE went live - with all of my accounts.

In SoE terms, the payment with a note "acceptance upon protest" is nothing less then a payment.
Period. You can complain, bitch, whine - at the end your $15 hit their account - and thats all they want.

How does it feel to be tricked ?

Sadly, I don't think the numbers count as much anymore. The recent SOE Station Access Gaming bundle allows all subscribers access to SWG, even if they do not play it. SWG will survive by riding EQ2 and the other games in the bundle. If there were 300k total Access Pass players and only 5k of them actually play SWG, SOE will say 300k are subscribed to SWG....the spin of spins. SWG pulls from the same pot of money...SWG is just another game name to advertise the Station Access pass.

Once again I'll say this much, if you saw it on the Internet it must be true!!!

  • SagoSago Member Posts: 516

Personally, I don't believe $LA will ever pull the SW license from $OE, nor will $OE shut SW:G down. The reason is that $OE has turned SW:G into a console game to be bundled with all their "other" POS games and will be offered as a package (Station Access Pass) deal to all the new PS3 customers when the PS3 comes out.

I personally do NOT understand this thinking. REAL gamers generally will only play one MMO at a time. MMO's are too involved to be spending time playing MULTIPLE MMO's. It takes alot of time to develope your toon and if you find a game you like why spend time playing something else? To do so will take time away from the game you like best. With this thinking, (which i don't think is too unreasonable) $OE is screwing themselves and $LA out of alot of money. As a customer, why would I want to pay the $20 (or more) per month for access to 7 games when I am only interested in playing one for $12 - $15 per month? If I REALLY enjoy one game I will put all my spare time and energy into developing the toon in that one game I really like.

I can only hope that $LA can see that there are roughly 450K former SWG players out there that do not want to play $OE's POS, watered down version of a once GREAT MMO and maybe ... just maybe, they will play a different SW MMO that closely resembles preCU.

Do I think that another SW MMO will come out??? ABSOLUTELY. Why??? Because LA can see the $$$$ signs and the current or should I say ... former SWG game is designed for the PS3. So in theory, they should not compete.

EVERYONE that is still playing this game is doing NOTHING more that paying to beta test SW:G console for the PS3. There will NOT be anymore expansions added until after the PS3 comes out and I seriously doubt much of anything will really get better. My advice is  anyone that really loved/ loves SW or SWG should quit as this is the ONLY method we have to get the point across to $OE, $LA, and/or any other MMO company out there that is thinking of doing the same thing. Everyone SHOULD quit BECAUSE we love SW.

    Yes !

The only one knowing cleaned-out numbers is the devils dreamteam: LA/SoE
Stop..not sure, we know too since the guy published the sniffed server numbers ::::02::
No wonder they hide SWG in the "cheaterpack" called stationpass.

But you are right, they created the "legally true" conditions for the statement
"We are currently counting XY subscriptions to our games covered by the stationpass".

Did you actually READ those before posting this?  They're the same press release that was sent out.  All it says is that SWG isn't closing down and that SOE will keep working on it.  Of course they are going to say that.  They're not going to prematurely announce that another company is developing an MMO because that would cause many people to cancel their SWG subs.  It doesn't say anything about any other SW MMOs.

The license rumors are probably true from the standpoint that the license was probably modified to no longer grant exclusivity.
It seems very clear that SWG is being ported to PS3.  When that happens, the new SW MMO will be announced for PC.  SWG will be only on PS3 and the new one will only be on PC.  That way they won't compete.
This is really the only plan that seems to make sense to explain their actions to date.
Nowhere does it say that LA won't be developing a different MMO.

OK did you guys read the debunk it was from Torres/lucasarts and it said nothing of  License, just that they aren't going to kill Galaxies,  and they are planning on working together. However this can change over night, once you realize that he and lucas arts already lived up to the "report" they can do what ever they want.

I'm only saying that it didn't kill the license rumors because they didn't adress the question.

    (stupid quotes)
You said that LA has stated the license will not be given to anyone else.  This is not true.  All they said is that SOE isn't losing their license.  These are not mutually exclusive.  It is possible for Bioware to be granted a license without SOE losing theirs.
Since we don't know the terms of the license, there's no way to know if that license is exclusive.  I think it was at one time, but I have a feeling that has been changed.
Check your facts.  I DID read the previous post, that's why I responded.  Nowhere in those links did it say what you had claimed it did.

    Guys,

I used to work for s oftware company. We used to leek things we wanted the users to know if it was things we felt they had been asking for. The same company also sold on its Unix office suite. This was never announced until the day it went. Up to that point it was business as usual. I think what will happen is this:

    1) The current SWG will continue on for a while in a station pass format until PS3 is ready. Then it will port to that platform as well. I don't feel $OE will cut the PC link. They will praise the fact that it is a "Truelly cross platfrom game".

    2) Bioware will release some kind of new Star Wars MMO. They know there is a market out there for a Star Wars MMO, so they will want to get it out ASAP. It makes sense for them to use SWG as a starting platform.

Unfortunatley I think $OE and Bioware will together on the later. If this was not the case $OE would be baning down doors and shouting all the odds about LA. Think about if your company had lost the license would you be so nice? I doubt it.

That is my take on things. I hope you all find it amusing,

    DP.

Like I wrote in the rumor room...

All these rumors flying around has made me think it will come down to this

    • SoE will port SWG for PS3 and drop all other interfaces when the console is launched. So in a way they still has the license and in the same time they "lost" it
    • LEC has made a deal with another developer (BioWare?) to make a SW MMO for PC

This might be the case why SoE state it's "impossible" to reintroduce pre-CU system as it would not play well on console and it might even be so that the code has been "shipped" to the next developer for PC to look at

This is just wild speculations anyway
