LA/SoE should have *fixed* the original SWG game. It was original thinking and though it had flaws, it was better as an original design. Now it is just a nock-off wannabe of a dozen other design patterns. Sad. I agree with OP. Quit playing SWG; it is the only way that LA/SoE will get the message.
If you think the NGE makes it easy for them to put it on a console then you're wrong. The game is still heavily mouse and keyboard intensive. Yes consoles can have keyboards and mice, but in that case it would have been just as easy to put pre-cu/pre-nge on the console.
Ok, about the bioware deal... It's rumour, and one that has a believable basis, despite this...rumour. But then SOE and LA deny it, which as with most rumours connected to these companies, it's likely true. Can we stop claiming we know the truth one way or another, because we don't. It's likely, leave it at that. And for anyone believing SOE or LA on a regular basis, wanna buy a bridge??

My view of current events is that many are missing the game so much that it's worth tinkering with the current game to make it playable, plus the new pending content... I supported the game pre-CU. Like 99% of non-retarded players out there, I just wanted tweaks for balance and certain exploits closed. I fought the CU and left in protest.

I agree. I re-subscribed after NGE for 1 month to pay my house maintenance fees for the next 12 months. Played NGE for 30 minutes. Holy Moly ! ZOMG ! What utter crap! It's like they perfected the art of crap making and NGE was their dissertation after years of experimenting with how to abominate an MMO in every respect imaginable. Perhaps they were bribed by EQ2 or WOW devs to implement such flawless garbage? It was the "derelicte" of the MMO industry !

Problem is.. SOE/LA has outright lied to it's playerbase, more than once at that. IMO, that's the biggest reason this particular rumor continues to hold any sort of weight. Players haven't gotten a straight deal from SOE/LA from the start, and there's no reason to believe any of their announcements. At this point, SOE/LA has all the credibility of a used car salesman.
I used to be a big LucasArts fanboy back during the days of the original X-Wing and TIE Fighter. Back then, they were extremely innovative and made unique games (some of which are in Gamespot's top 100 of all time, at that). But, that all changed for me when they got greedy. Their current management emphasizes the selling volume of games, instead of selling quality games. "Battlefront II is the best selling Star Wars game of all time!" they proclaim, as if that's supposed to draw more sales. Yet I've only seen the number of people playing Battlefront II online dwindle, since it's such a mediocre game. I certainly haven't played it at any LANs I've been to recently.
Regardless, SWG has been sucked into the LucasArts marketing trap in a bad way ever since the first holocrons were opened by players. I often wonder how SOE would've fared if not for LucasArts' aggressive marketing, as the taint of such greed seems so evident.
I was also shocked at how absolutely mediocre Empire at War is, and based on the LucasArts track record, I'm not eager to blame Petroglyph for its shortcomings. In fact, in retrospect, I tend to think the same of SOE and Star Wars Galaxies. SOE is not as evil as many think (but they aren't angels); SOE has delivered fairly well to EverQuest 2 players (in fact, the contrast in everything between SWG and EQ2 is astonishing, even though they have a very similar feel to one another).
Maybe when LucasArts gets rid of the marketing greed and goes back to innovative game design -- and that's a rant directed at more than just LucasArts -- they'll earn their credibility back.

Ive stated the same thing many times. In my opinion its unethical and immoral to play SWG as it rewards SOE for its blatantly bad behavior.
However, one dev stated at the Austin summitt that there will never be a rollback. Someone asked how many folks have to quit before they rollback and again the answer was never. To me, this says 2 things....
1. SOE has incorporated SWG's costs into their station pass games as one big profit / cost structure. Therefore EQ1 / EQ2 profits can sustain failures like SWG and Matrix. The fact that they sell all their games in one box now proves this.
2. PS3 - It must be headed for PS3. Its the only thing that makes sense. SOE stated that the NGE was brought about to INCREASE players. However, its obvious that hasnt happened at all. So the question is why no rollback to bring in more revenue ? The answer is SOE is betting a PS3 version will bring in more money. Otherwise, why else would they continue to support the NGE when they lost 75% of their player base ?
You can choose to believe this or not (since you're into conspiracies, I'm gonna guess "Not"), but if you can't even trust what LucasArts is saying, tell me why you want a game from a company that you cannot trust?

Even if $0E/LAme is technically telling the truth, the wording STILL leaves open the possibility for the license to $OE to be non-exclusive, in which case Bioware can be developing a SWG MMO in a different timeline. Also, there's always the possibility that they have a mutual agreement to continue for X # of months if certain subscriber benchmarks are hit and if not, then the agreement terminates.
Lastly, you ignore the possibility that $OE/LAme are just lying. (As if they haven't bald faced lied before.... many, many, many, many times). You were probably one of those people 12 months after the 2nd Persian Gulf War saying that there WERE WMDs in Iraq, that they'll be found eventually otherwise they must have all been smuggled to Syria. LOL. You should either go work for the former Iraqi Information Minister or be a press secretary for the Bush/Rumsfeld/Cheney cabal. ROFL.

"Battlefront II is the best selling Star Wars game of all time!" they proclaim, as if that's supposed to draw more sales. Yet I've only seen the number of people playing Battlefront II online dwindle, since it's such a mediocre game. I certainly haven't played it at any LANs I've been to recently.
Regardless, SWG has been sucked into the LucasArts marketing trap in a bad way ever since the first holocrons were opened by players. I often wonder how SOE would've fared if not for LucasArts' aggressive marketing, as the taint of such greed seems so evident.
I was also shocked at how absolutely mediocre Empire at War is, and based on the LucasArts track record, I'm not eager to blame Petroglyph for its shortcomings. In fact, in retrospect, I tend to think the same of SOE and Star Wars Galaxies. SOE is not as evil as many think (but they aren't angels); SOE has delivered fairly well to EverQuest 2 players (in fact, the contrast in everything between SWG and EQ2 is astonishing, even though they have a very similar feel to one another).
Maybe when LucasArts gets rid of the marketing greed and goes back to innovative game design -- and that's a rant directed at more than just LucasArts -- they'll earn their credibility back.

You are not saying anything that has not been said already 100 times. There's nothing wrong with that perse, you have every right to express yourself just like I and everyone else does. But when you throw things into the mix like: "you ARE the very worse thing to happen to SWG" or "These people are complete and utter morons." You undermine yourself and the cause.
SOE knows what you like... You don't!

I am not insulting those who continue to play. I am just saying that they are like enablers to an addict and they they are continuing to fund the game abomination known as NGE. If they would just listen to me and quit, then $OE/LAme would have no choice but to do a roll-back or give the license to someone else. People who continue to subscribe to the game are just UNNECESSARILY prolonging the inevitable. It is a physical IMPOSSIBILITY on par with a tachyon-driven quantum singularity that $OE/LAme will be able to substantially increase subscriber #s from where they are now. The game will just continue to stagnate at its current (or even lower) subscriber #s until the game dies 6, 12, 18, 24 months from now. For the love of God, just mass quit now and put Lassie out of her pain. It's the only humane thing to do at this point. Srlsy.
Ive stated the same thing many times. In my opinion its unethical and immoral to play SWG as it rewards SOE for its blatantly bad behavior.
However, one dev stated at the Austin summitt that there will never be a rollback. Someone asked how many folks have to quit before they rollback and again the answer was never. To me, this says 2 things....
1. SOE has incorporated SWG's costs into their station pass games as one big profit / cost structure. Therefore EQ1 / EQ2 profits can sustain failures like SWG and Matrix. The fact that they sell all their games in one box now proves this.
2. PS3 - It must be headed for PS3. Its the only thing that makes sense. SOE stated that the NGE was brought about to INCREASE players. However, its obvious that hasnt happened at all. So the question is why no rollback to bring in more revenue ? The answer is SOE is betting a PS3 version will bring in more money. Otherwise, why else would they continue to support the NGE when they lost 75% of their player base ?

You can choose to believe this or not (since you're into conspiracies, I'm gonna guess "Not"), but if you can't even trust what LucasArts is saying, tell me why you want a game from a company that you cannot trust?
This is hopelessly naive.
Even if $0E/LAme is technically telling the truth, the wording STILL leaves open the possibility for the license to $OE to be non-exclusive, in which case Bioware can be developing a SWG MMO in a different timeline. Also, there's always the possibility that they have a mutual agreement to continue for X # of months if certain subscriber benchmarks are hit and if not, then the agreement terminates.
Lastly, you ignore the possibility that $OE/LAme are just lying. (As if they haven't bald faced lied before.... many, many, many, many times). You were probably one of those people 12 months after the 2nd Persian Gulf War saying that there WERE WMDs in Iraq, that they'll be found eventually otherwise they must have all been smuggled to Syria. LOL. You should either go work for the former Iraqi Information Minister or be a press secretary for the Bush/Rumsfeld/Cheney cabal. ROFL.
