I can't believe people are gullible enough to buy the PR spin about SoE. Someone bought this game away from Microsoft and they are now the controlling interest in the game and DO HAVE THE POWER TO DETERMINE THE OUTCOME.
The only other explaination is that Gates got fed up with the non-delivery by McQuaid and company and pulled the plug like they did on Mythica so Sigil had to sell its soul to the devil to stay afloat.

My thing is, I only need to have a company screw me over real good once before I stop trusting them. Being a glutton for punishment, I hung around SWG long after that trust was gone.... just to get screwed again.
They won't get another penny from me.... and frankly, partnering up with them tells me all I ever needed to know about Sigil. They will throw their fanbase on the tracks for a few bucks, and then try to convince us that we are better off under the train. Actually, a partnership with SOE may be a perfect fit for them.

He doesn't really need KY. If he's happy, he'll play. If he's not happy, he won't. He is not really getting screwed. It's still going to be the same game and he planned on buying it. Just because there is going to be a little SOE logo on the box in an attempt to get more people playing, by putting more boxes in stores doesn't mean SOE made the game.

Bottom line is this, SOE saw the opprotunity to get involved with Vanguard, they obviously new there was a good hype surrounding the game.Now why were there statments by both companies adamantly stating SOE has no hand in the development, simple, because both companies knew that tons of the Vanguard fanbase had been royally screwed over by SOE and they wanted to ensure them it won't happen this time.Would they ever come out and say outright that SOE had some creative control? You clearly don't understand the difference between a developer and a publisher. Sigil made this move so they have MORE control over when the game is being released. Smedley won't be telling you anything, SoE has no control over gameplay etc. Sigil is still doing all the gameplay.
