They dais the same thing about UO when EA games bought them out. Within 6 months every veteran player myself included left the game. Now its carebear central. So I dont believe it for a nanosecond.
As long as SoE doesn't gain control the game has a chance they killed EQ for me and drove me to DAoC before the botters drove me to WoW. Not to mention the multitude of others games that were horrid along the way.
My boycott of SOE products still holds strong. Sorry G&H. Your game looks amazing and I'd like to play it but not one cent of my money goes to SOE if i can help it.

Excellant post and exactly why I despise Sony and Brad of Vanguard!
So, you hate Brad because he ruined SWG???
If you read the post he quoted, you'll see that it wasn't about what they did to the game, but about the way they treat their customers. The attitude of this is how it's going to be and we don't care how many of you don't like it, is what I posted about. Funny thing is, it's pretty much the same attitude Brad comes across with when discussing the SOE deal.
If you gave a majority of the players what they say they want, they would all be solo kings, have lots of cash, have all the best loot, and be unkillable. They would basically be Gods, and they would only play a few months before being bored and quitting the game. Fact is, a lot of players wouldn't play a game that gave them everything they wanted.
And if Brad doesn't care what the players want, why are they asking Vanguard beta testers what they think needs improvement, and actually making drastic changes in beta based on that feedback? Seriously, the Vanguard beta has had more changes due to player feedback than any beta I have been ever seen. If the SWG beta had been half as good, the game wouldn't have mostly sucked from day one.
And the truth is, I hope GnH doesn't give players everything they ask for or it will suck too. Games need to be challenging and require player interaction or they just won't cut it in the long run.
nah your wrong there imho... im not sure if you read the official G&H site at all, but noones making ridiculous demands to be ubar and all that crap. Many of the requests for additions are actually thought out and sound really good, and none of the people who make proposals for additions they feel might help go crying like pu***** when they find out the developers may not use them. We know the game is developed and we dont want to rewrite it. Any extra ideas anyone puts in for this game is just an overkill of fun thats already there.
The whole tone and mindset of the community is very laid back and open minded with devs who actually listen and read your posts not to mention respond to them. Also i might add some of the the things players wanted to see in the game have been shown in clips, that in itself says alot about the community contribution and developers running the game.
You should also keep in mind that not every poster on that site is 12 years old making ridiculous demands for gaming additions. Lots of us are matured gamers who go back a good while, and can usually tell right off the bat things what someone is going to like/dislike because we've been there and done that, we just dont go running off at the mouth about it and yelling at the devs like the sky is falling, its handeled the right way from both sides.
As for anyone not willing to play G&H because of S.O.E I fully understand why and wont try to convince you otherwise, i know firsthand what goes on there. I will however ask you to have an open mind towards P.E as I was very skeptical myself apon going to thier site especially after hearing that S.O.E would have involvment with the distribution. This is one of those things where you have to find out for yourself what you will or wont be missing, eitherway My outlook towards P.E has changed since then and I'm looking forward to playing a great looking game. Whereever you end up have fun and gl.
Actually this thread just totally put me off getting this game. I thought SOE was handling the logistics and thus it would be part of the all access pass. Right now I can't afford another $15 subscription.
As for all the SOE hate, excuse me for saying it, but you guys are fools. Plenty of poeple were burned with SWG. I get that. I was a BE/CH, believe me, I wasn't happy. But that was one dev team. I still love EQ2 and enjoy Planetside from time to time. As for their servers, they are as stable as most other MMO's. probably even more stable. You can't have expectations like no lag spikes
Personally I'd rather the game set up their servers through someone with 10 years worth of experience and already established servers then go through the growing pains of a new company trying to juggle CS, servers, dev work and still have time to double check if their game is actually making money.
I agree in full, unsticky this thread its not doing GnH any favors. Stickying a thread for flaming especially since SOE have little to do with this game is a bit weak.
I have a problem too with SOE haters. I never had problems with SOE customer service, because I have never called them. I am so used to using the forums for things I need to know, and problems I have.
With the things I hear in the shout (or world) channel, I can safely assume that 95% of the players calling for GMs could have fixed their problem by using the forum for the information they need.
With the things the players are demandings, I can say that alot of them would have degrade the game.
I dont want to deal with SWG, as it seems SOE made some bad dicision on that part.
Thankfully SoE is only helping with the marketing and publication of the game or something along those lines and they are not actually creating, maintaining, developing, or controlling Gods and Heroes in any way. SoE does a lot of things very well and Perpetual Entertainment (PE Company) seems to be taking advantage of those strengths while avoiding the questionable areas of skill SoE has exhibited in select areas. (Thats as politically correct as I can make it )

Anything is possible I suspose. However I do not see the point of concern if there is no current sign of financial trouble. In fact PE reciently announced they are bringing in more people as they progress in the development phases. Sounds like they have the needed $$$ resources for now. As for the future, that will really depend on the quality of the game. If it sucks then it deserve to fail and be shreaded up even worse like Matrix Online. If it is great it will be up to PE to keep it that way.
I just hope to never see anything like these happen again:

We need to remember one vital thing though: MxO Was a pretty rediculous game at the beginning. Their emphasis was on their stupid bullet-time combat and they pretty much ignored everything else from a useful enviornemnt to quality quests/missions and dynamic PvP. I dont see GaH getting into any trouble financially. I dont think we will see too many WoW type populations in games, especially with the amount of MMO's comming out in 07', and we'll go back a little to considerably smaller pop games that have always been run and maintained at a profit in the past.
But barring some horrible patchwork or updating, I think GnH is looking good.
These bastards are involved with both game I'm excited and waiting for. This is horrible, they're going to ruin everything again I thought at least GaH will be spared but i guess i was wrong. SOE has their hands in all upcoming games.
Favourite Game SWG - Sabanak, Retired Jedi, Bria
Playing: Nothing
Waiting for: SWG Pre-CU
Retired: SWG, CoX, Vanguard, MxO, Guildwars, Archlord, Auto Assault, EQ2, Final Fantasy XI, Lineage 2, Saga of Ryzom, DAOC, WoW, AOC, WAR
I am interested in trying this game, but can't get past SOE's involvement. Anyone who thinks SOE is only publishing is mistaken. They are involved, same as in Vanguard, and SOE will profit from it. I don't want a penny of my money helping support SOE and Smedley.

Please explain to us how SOE is involved in this game like it is involved in Vangaurd ?
Ofc SOE will profit, money makes the world go round, no one (well nearly no one) does anything for free. It would most likely be more costly for PE to publish it themselfs.

i am afraid this will be a good game many won't try because soe is connected to it, even only for the distribution.
P.E. seems like a good company with some fresh ideas, and there game deserves a fair shot.
let's hope $oe does not end up hurting other companies with thier bad rep.
yea guys dont miss out on this or you'll kick yourself later

Why can people not grasp that SOE is only publishing this game?
I do not know how many times it needs to be said.
