Orginally posted by free2play I just got an L3 mission that made me blow up a battleship. The only way I could beat it was to hit him with 4 large Notos smartbombs, fly to base, cheat up my cap, go back and do it again. 11 trips later, I blew ut up. Word to the wise. Stay on L1 missions. The time required to do L3 negates any possibile advantage. This is a one time event. I am hoping things aren't this psycho all the time but if it ha[[ens again, L3 can be scratched off as forced group content. This sucks. Hey man i recently started doing LvL 3 missions I just wanna say that LvL 3 missions are way harder then LvL2 missions and you realy have to fit your ship the right way. I lost 2 Battle cruisers because i wasnt doing it right. You have to see what types of damge the rats your fighting do and put a combination of shield hardeners extenders and armor hardeners and plates DO NOT GO 90-100% DAMAGE DEALER! Dont think that if you put on extra large shield extenders on all slot will save you because it wont you will have low resistances and the rats will just give you alot of damge the secret iis a combination of both. Also i wanna let you know there is a mission where you get warped into 4 sentry guns and battle cruisers what i do it use a cheap frigate let them blow me up make a bookmark and warp to the book mark at 40km also there is a mission where a frigate will warp scramble you so make sure you get you drones on the frigates. I already made back the money i lost and more in a day with the mission rewards and rat bounty plus i got a 49 mil implant from a mission rat can!
Yes, I read it and half a dozen of the other flames too. At no point did I say I lost a battleship to an L3 mission. The AI never came close to killing my ship. My complaint wasn't the durability of a battleship. They are fine. My gripe was in the AI. It was repairing damage while shooting, while flying at full speed with a thruster.
In short, the AI doesn't adhere to capacitor rules.
In fairness, I was ranting because I had just been exposed to it but I am still forced to laugh at all the hard core cheerleaders who refuse to observe the flaws in any game under any conditions.
Where I was going with this is by tweaking up AI like this it's a shady way to add to an already notorious time sink. When you inject always on shield and armor repair at such huge levels, the true dps of your toon is cut in half or more.
I'm not screaming nerf, I am just not stupid. Dev side will ring as much time out of us as they can per mission and the less we resist, the more they squeeze. It's about what players will put up with. If players roll over, in any game then they can expect the leash to tighten a bit more tommorow.
Also I find that people who don't complain, ever? Are either getting a paycheck or they are privy to an exploit.

I will like to point out a few problems here, 1 you are flying a BS with 2 mil SP. Now You don't have to be a genius to understand why this is a bad move (not saying you shouldn't do what you want, and that SP are anything....) but when using a BS you have to have the basic BACK UP skills for it. hell with 2 mil SP you should have 1-1.3 mil of it in learning... and from that... 700-1 mil SP to have on, ships, weapons, tanking, EW.... maybe even Navigation.... Yes it is kool to have an apoc or geddon when you have 2 mil SP... but I see no point in having one if you cant use it even half as well as a guy2 weeks older.
You need mech, hull upgrades, repair systems, armour hardeners, armour (extenders), large turret to 3-4, tracking, sniping, etc on the gunnery skills, navigation, engineering for cap and cap recharge(since Apoc uses extream amounts of cap) electronic skills so you can WEB! You know slow ships down to 10% max speed, frigates are hitable then, jam, nos etc... Can you even nos...? I feel slighlty dummer for reading this... a BC can kill a BS one on one, hell a BC can gun down any NPC spawn up to 1 mil bounty.
My friend, I have nothing but pity for the person that funded your first BS... you shouldn't be allowed to fly one for a long time....
OK, you pointed out that a BS should be exclusive to people who have dumped 2 years into the game. Now back to the issue at hand.
I was hitting for 900 and it was repping it. No, this thread didn't get hijacked by the cheerleaders.

Or we've just done our research and don't fly with gimped setups.....NAAAHHHH.
Why must you assume that advice is a flame? If you don't want an answer, don't ask a question. We're only helping... if you choose not to see it that way, it is not our fault.... it is yours. Nobody has called you stupid. Nobody has called you any names at all. We've remarked on your set-up and the fact that you're flying a battleship WAY to soon, but there has been no real name calling except in "retaliation" to yours.
Of course, reading your other posts and topics... one could only assume this is how you would act. Again, though, when asking for an opinion... or placing yours out into discussion... do not flame the responses you have asked for. Esspecially when the majority of those responses have been in the "Hey, let's help this guy out," catagory.
All of my corp mates laughed when they saw my first Megathron set-up. Nobody called me stupid, they just thought it was funny that I was trying to shield tank with it. They then offered to help correct my set-up. They did. Thanks to them being right and me being wrong (but willing to accept the help) I have yet to lose that ship to any fight what-so-ever. It pays to listen.
We can agree to disagree, or we can bicker constantly... either way, I'm right.
SobaKai.com There are two types of people in this world - people that suck... and me.
Indeed. We have a corp forum focused on ship set ups. People post their latest and greatest there and everyone else pokes at it and suggests changes or optimizations ... the idea is to get a great fit, not defend your set up. It's good to be a bit humbe about these things ... you learn a lot about set ups that you may not have otherwiise thought about if you can manage it.

I still disagree with this assesment. My alliance has some veteran players that can tank their battleships so well that they can tank dual bs spawns along with 1-3 cruiser/frigs uniterupted for hours. They park in a belt get the spawn to aggro them switch over to their mining accounts and go to town on the belts. If PC's can tank dual battleships with full armament why is it so far fetched that a single bs can tank your armageddon with low skills and only half armed?
At 8 months I still can't accomplish this, but I have seen it done numerous times.

I can fit a battleship to run a tank indefinately which is far better then that of the NPC you were fighting, as well as outputting a substansially greater amount of damage. On the off chance you do run into a combat-fitted battleship with a pilot who is fairly equivalent to me, you may notice that compared to NPCs:
A) You are not doing damage worthy of the name
He is outputting more damage then any entire lvl 3 mission spawn you have ever seen.
NPCs are a joke, and have been for ages. Trying to argue that they are superior to player ships is absolutely absurd.
"I just got an L3 mission that made me blow up a battleship." realy which mission was it? I wana do it too
I have ferox 1 mil sp and i have troubles only with the very hardest of lvl 3 missions eg massive attack that is quite a romp *g* (unfortunately i didnt get the bs mission yet ) I agrre with others stay with the ship u can use the best not the biggest or most expensive. before u flame me as being noob with 1mill sp YES I AM AND I DONT CARE
NPC's in Eve don't adhere to all the rules players do due to their inherent stupidity.
If NPC's needed cap or would have other limitations equal to players they'd be even easier then they are, and that's not good. Eve pve is already way too easy.

SOE knows what you like... You don't! And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!
I guess i forget how hard it was in the beginning. NPC's definately do not adhere to the same rules as we do. They have unlimited cap for one. Honestly the setup you mention is awkward and is most likely the reason you're having troubles. Also they've nerfed Amarr ships to the point where if the npc's are using the right tanks you damage will be nothing to them. I had to switch to a dominix and t2 drones to npc because my t2 fitted apoc couldn't even kill an NPC BS where i hunt. I'm happy i did though because using drones is so much easier.

There is a ships and modules forum on the eve-o forums where you can get advice about ship fittings. Most of them are "standard" fittings, but sometimes someone will post something more creative or "out there"/contrarian.
The first time I hunted some rat BS in 0.0 I almost got Pwned.
Simple explanation : unappropriate skills and fitt.
A corpmate explained to me what skills (and what levels) I had to train and what was the best fitt according to my BS and rat type.
A couple of weeks later, I was destroying 3 BS's spawns with my Apoc.
It's better to be overskilled in a cruiser than underskilled in a BS. Adapt your hunts to your capabilities. One day or another, you will do rampage in Lvl 3, 4 missions.

Although im not 100% what your trying to express here, the part i did understand is you lost a BS in a level 3 mission, that being the case its not that you got a level 3 mission and IT made your BS get blown up, its perhaps the fact that you most likely didnt have your BS properly fitted for said mission. Take the time to learn the game mechanics, take the time to learn about your mission BEFORE you actually warp to it, Take the time to properly fit your ship for the mission at hand. Please dont just say "This Sucks" when its clear you had no clue what you got into.

NOOB
This is the key... Attacking the BS convoy in the level 3 storyline is asking to die. You are only supposed to meet with them before warping to the "real" pirate's location. There are NO level 3 missions that require you to destroy a BS in order to complete them (bonus levels ignored).
This is all really great speculation but not only did I not say I did not lose my BS in an L3 mission, I came back 3 times to say that I did not say I lost my BS on an L3 mission.
But hey, think whatever you need to think.
Someone pointed out the problem. While I can clobber certain BC, others run me over. The game still cheats but it's really not that big of an issue and I just don't give a shit that much that I will play the fanboi punching bag for the issue. Point in mention. The ships I couldn't beat, I wiped out shield and 60% armor in about 10 secods and then preceeded to miss for 5 minutes. Still at optimal, same variables only I missed while it repp'ed the damage. Then like a magical wand was waved, I started hitting again and reset the ship to no shield and 40% armor and yep, miss, miss, miss untill it all got repp'ed back. Programmed to lose even though I was set up to win.
I still like Eve, it's just painfull to watch the code run some times.

The issue is that you have no understanding of what tracking is. The issue is that you have no clue whatsoever how to effectively fit a battleship.
The issue is NOT that NPCs are cheating. Compared to player ships of the same class, they are an utter joke. They have been dumbed-down so many times that they are no longer in any way a threat against anything ever, but are merely flying bounties.
But if you honestly think that the problem was NPCs being overpowered, meet me on test sometime and I'll evaporate your battleship in 25 seconds. That will nicely illustrate how worthless NPC battleships are by comparison.
As for those battlecruisers.... you can hit them while theyre approaching, and when they begin to orbit you, your guns no longer track on them. That is what tracking does to you when you dont understand it.

There is truth in that. Not that I don't understand, that I haven't trained up those skills yet. It still boils down to what people have been bitching about for years. You can't share space and AI with superior vets and total noobs and everything in between. I can get used to it though. It reminds me alot of SWG where stacks got to the point, you had to resist 90% of everything to actually make use of the content.
The part about gimped AI is obvious because I can go to 4 sec in my BS and slaughter AI. The fact that you can't go to .4 sec because it is so heavily camped by superior vets and am as such driven to low traffic .1 sec is where the troubles rise.
Not an easy to solve problem but noob bashing will buy some time I suppose.

Neither of the things I mentioned have the slightest relevence to SP. You can put more SP into in-game skills, if you think thats going to help with the problems youre having, you will be woefully disappointed.

For a geddon, try:
7x Mega Pulse 1x Med Nos
1x Stasis Webber (X5 or better would be preferred) 2x Eutectic Cap Recharger
1x Large Armor Rep II 3x NPC-Specific Hardeners 2x Cap Power Relay 2x Heat Sink II
Bring 3 webber drones and 5 medium drones.

Part of the problem is that you seem to have fallen into the bigger = better frame of mind. SP not being a factor, I can tank 0.0 spawns (including battleships) easier in a frigate than in a battleship (being careful of destroyer spawns in a T1 frig) because of things like tracking and sig radius. Frigates get the job done a bit slower but at much less risk.
Also a caracal or thorax (crusier class) can take 0.0 npc battleships spawns. Just be careful and warp out if it gets too hot, repair a bit and go back in.
Some helpful hints when ratting (fighting npc's). They are soo easy that once you get the hang of it, you can approach, orbit, open fire, and tab back to mmorpg.com to post more :P
1. never approach a turret ship straight on, approach at an angle. This way you keep your transversal velocity up and are much harder to hit. 2. once in tight, don't be afriad to turn your Afterburner off. You should be inside thier optimal enough they can't hit you well. 3. Drones offer alot of versitility. Train them up a modest amount early. 4. Don't hate what you don't understand. Learn from it and be open minded. People in eve are eager to help but not if your already bashing something they enjoy. If I wanted help learning photoshop I wouldn't go to a photoshop help site and make a post like "photoshop sucks". Its not the program that sucks, its me. Im cool with that, Im still learning.

Free2play, did you even read my post? Hell I only started flying a raven a few weeks ago, (maybe I never trained it) only 4.6 mil SP and so forth, I can barely out tank dual 1 mil BS bounties.. He stated he had 2 mil sp, thats 2-3 months? doing lvl 3's in a BS (stupid in itself, you'll find this out later if you know enough about the game, and yes to have any ability in game you HAVE to research; sorry may sound 'elitest' but study helps a fhkn lot my friend.) man I don't want to go futher into a stupid argument, so I shall have this: ^below^ to show my thoughts on you and your assumptions.

thankyou for reading...

There are two types of people in this world - people that suck... and me.

Make a difference!
I complete lvl 3 missions by my self on a assault frigate, how is that "forced group content" ?
I just did the same mission last night........
Well If you had read the mission details It clearly states at the bottom DONT ATTACK THE BATTLESHIP CONVOY
makes me think of the Saying "R.T.F.M" I havent said this on MMO forum b4 but must say it now.....
NOOB
Although im not 100% what your trying to express here, the part i did understand is you lost a BS in a level 3 mission, that being the case its not that you got a level 3 mission and IT made your BS get blown up, its perhaps the fact that you most likely didnt have your BS properly fitted for said mission. Take the time to learn the game mechanics, take the time to learn about your mission BEFORE you actually warp to it, Take the time to properly fit your ship for the mission at hand. Please dont just say "This Sucks" when its clear you had no clue what you got into.

This is the key... Attacking the BS convoy in the level 3 storyline is asking to die. You are only supposed to meet with them before warping to the "real" pirate's location. There are NO level 3 missions that require you to destroy a BS in order to complete them (bonus levels ignored).
I recommend you visit this mission explaination site before you fly a level 3 again.
This is all really great speculation but not only did I not say I did not lose my BS in an L3 mission, I came back 3 times to say that I did not say I lost my BS on an L3 mission.
