Mexico has been one of the best teams in the world for a long time, but the current Iranian team is supposedly the best team Iran has ever had, and they have had a coupl eof decent teams before. Here's to hoping for another great game :P
Dabble. speaking of the supposedly corrupt FIFA officials, i dont know, i've been impressed by the judges so far. Good job imo, especially by the Japanese referee Kamikawa Toru who handled the Poland - Ecuador game expertly

1-1 after a brilliant first half. Iran putting a preasure high up on the Mexicans who seemed to be taken by surprise, Mexico still managed to get the lead with a beautifully played freekick before Iran got the equalizer 10 minutes later on a corner.
In the second half Iran seemed to tire and failed to keep up the pressure they had in the first half and Mexico slowly took over the game completly, nearing the end of the game scoring 2 more goals winning the game with 3-1. Not exactly impressive, but it'll be interesting to see how they play against Portugal.
Portugal who play against Angola in the next game :P They should (according to me anyway) win that game, and will probably be the ones to be one of the top 2 in this group together with Mexico. Still, game has still to be played doesnt it :P

after watching most of it on ABC (the american network), i had to switch over to the mexican station Univision. I just couldn't stand listening to the idiotic commentary that they provide on ABC. Apparently, during the 2nd Mexican goal ABC had cut away to show footage of the USA team practicing and MISSED THE GOAL!!!

HAHA, yea, this isnt NFL where 95% of the game can be filled with commercials..
WOOT, Portugal just scored, Figo with a superb run with a brilliant pass to Pauleta who could easily place the ball in the goal!

As expected Portugal beats Angola with 1-0, although they dominated almost the whole game the low tempo of the seccond half was hardly convincing. Portugal wins but has more to show, and i expect they will against better opponents.

So here's an interesting game, Australia vs Japan.. Who wins? :P

Yea, Portugal could have beaten Angola really badly... we had 2 chances in the first 5min, and only 3 or 4 in the 90.... after the goal we slowed down, and our coach started making defensive substitutions... He took out C.Ronaldo to put COstinha..... Oh, and Simao shouldn't even be in Germany.... much less play the 90min...
Brazil takes the gold, again. I hope its some other country but most likely its Brazil.
Football will grow in USA as that country will get more and more immigrants from latin america. In South America its like a religion. Give it 30-40 years and it will be bigger than that american idiotball.
Australia beats Japan with 3-1 after a game that was largely controled by Japan, but Australia shocked Japan with 3 game sin the last 10 minutes of the game. Nicely done by Tim Cahill.
Check Republic confidently beat down USA with 3 - 0, even after their number one player Jan Koller had to leave the pitch after an injury in the first half. Rosicky impresses with 2 goal and a number of dangerous shots on goal.

First half, Italy - Ghana, 1-0. Great game so far with two solid, well playing teams. Italy somewhat better, especially effective with their fast plays up towards the left side, where Luca Toni reigns supreme. Italy deserving the odd goal lead, but Ghana is far from without chances.

I can't believe America got beaten down so bad....we had so many chances but we couldn't do anything with it. And next we have to play Italy...I don't think we'll be able to get into the round of 16 this year.
Oh and for the person who said he switched to the Spanish channel during the Mexico game, I did the same thing. The commentary by ABC was so excrutiantingly boring; I preferred the over-the-top style of the Spanish channel. It was much more interesting, even tho i didnt understand most of it.

First half was good. Now the match has turned to the bad. Italy is boring and only defends itself. Ghana should have had a 11m.
This match reminds me how much I don't like the Italian football team. The play exellent football. But where is the joy and happiness we see in Brazil etc? The italians are so awfully cocky and arrogant.
Italy beats Ghana with 2-0 reassuringly. One of the best games so far, Italy showing some real quality.
Tomorrow it's time for the big bang of the opening games, Brazil-Croatia, Both teams definite contenders for the gold, i'm drooling with anticipation hehe
Also France vs Switzerland and Korea vs Togo, France ofcourse also a team to watch out for

Yea, we've seen quite a few teams pull back in the second half so far, England, Argentina, Mexico, Portugal.. It's sad but it's very typical for opening games unfortunatly..
I disagree that Ghana should've had a penalty... The first situations is not a penalty, the second one was an obvious hint towards hollywood that he was looking for a role, clear yellow card (only reason he didnt get one was because he already had one i think)...

I know it is a little late in the day but I had to comment on the Austrailia -vs- Japan match. The last 10 mins of the match were probably the most exciting 10 mins in soccer I have seen in a long time. It was amazing to see the momentum shift completely from Japan to Austrailia. Even the dull/brain-dead announcers noticed right after the goal when he said he would not be surprised to see the aussies score goal #2 immediately. I get a kick out of everything that the Austrailians compete in because their fans are pretty damn crazy and passionate. I will be routing for the Aussies moving forward...the US is showing up as completely over-rated and heartless. Unless they come out and whomp on the Italians there is no hope this year.
And for those people commenting on switching stations, I watched the Portugal match in spanish...I usually do that whenever I can.

And on ESPN 2 and ABC they haven't been showing the opening ceremonies (the national anthems) for every match. I told my friend, "No doubt when the US plays, they'll show the Stars and Stripes being sung."
Well, sure enough, for the first time they showed the anthem. I called my friend and jokingly said, "I bet they will cut to commericials when they start the Czech anthem."
AND THEY DID!!!
How very rude! I couldn't believe the arrogance and disrespect of the Disney Corporation.
I think it was the reason that the US team lost the match
