On the official SWG forums today, 5 pages into a thread discussing the recent advancement of the emu...
(seems the mods are sleeping, but its gonna be deleted eventually, so I copy and pasted it here)

I'm pretty excited about the emu if only because maybe these forums will finally clear out so we can start talking about the existing game instead of ranting and pining away for some two year old broke ass fantasy folks keep looking back at with some kind of misplaced infatuation. Can't happen soon enough. Good luck with all that. Seriously.

They are releasing video soon. Pre-cu sucked? Stay here. Enjoy the even emptier servers. That's why you are all bitter about the emu news, you know you'll be seeing alot fewer players soon enough.
Now I can respect the fact that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but for a Galactic Senator, a person who is supposed to represent the playerbase, thats supposed to communicate our problems, concerns and wishes to the Red_Names up on their high horses, this is a completely unacceptable post imo.
I certainly understand his predicament, him being one of.. /sing "The Chosen-One Fanbois" and all, but I find something disturbing with a person who claims to represent the playerbase, then basically slaps the majority of that playerbase across the face with a remark like that. Yes I said "majority", that SOE line about the NGE-haters being the "vocal minority" is pure PR damage control bs. Anybody with eyes that plays SWG cant deny that the subscriber numbers are WAY down, servers are full of ghost towns, forums are full of "NGE Sucks" posts, and that most people still playing are not enjoying themselves ingame to the extent they did Pre-CU or even CU for that matter.
Now while I know there were things about the Pre-CU that could've been fixed and improved upon, nobody that played it will deny that, but to call it an "old broke ass fantasy" is kinda delusional even for a fanboi I played all 3 versions of SWG and the NGE is by far the biggest "broke ass fantasy" Ive ever encountered in a game, period. I dont need any fancy focus groups to tell me that, its sadly obvious to any vet of the game. Yes there are good parts to the NGE, like a better noob tutorial, new quests etc, but all of these things could've easily been put into the Pre-CU system without the "re-inventing of the wheel" they tried to pull off with this NGE mess. Never have I encountered as many bugs ingame as I have with the NGE, thats just a fact. And if they had actually spent that year+ of dev time they wasted on the CU/NGE on improving and fixing the Pre-CU, that game would rock.
Although it really angered me to see a person supposedly representing the playerbase so pitifully flaming a pro-precu players post, accompanied by delusional rants on our apparent lack of comprehending that Pre-CU really sucked (um, yeh, sure it did buddy ), I honestly wasnt shocked in the least. This is exactally the type of attitude the entire current SWG Dev team has when it comes to the playerbase and their wishes, and its really no wonder they picked these fanbois to be our "Senators" during this PR disaster. With these kind of people in control at all levels of the game, the future of SWG looks about as bright as Jabba's brown-eye.

This guy should resign from his position ASAP
Assuming you like the NGE, do you really want to play with a bunch of whiners?
But there's a strong point. Many current players would trade a broken emu for fully functional emu.
Vets will leave. What effect this will have remains to be seen.
ALL the Senators are Brown-Nosing Suck-Up's. Not ONE Blue Glowie (former Coor's, pre-Senators) that critized the NGE & SOE's actions was made a Senator. NOT ONE. Two were removed for changing their mind about the NGE and speaking up (both ended up quitting).
They are JUST like the Senators under Palpatine funny enough: Powerless Yes Men.
Read their so called "Weekly Report" by BS, it's nothing but cheerleading about things NO ONE CARES ABOUT when compared to the real issues. They even get away with ABUSING people on the forums who don't like the NGE (like your example, you'ld get banned for saying the same thing about someone staying).
Don't stress it. NO ONE thinks they have ANY power other than being the forum thugs of SOE.
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!
In fact, forget the SWG!!!!
Pretty much describes the current state of SWG. Suprises me he had time to type that considering he spends 99% of his waking moments clutching his ankles in the DEV's common room!

Bah he isn't a senator anyway. The empreror disbanded the Senate at the beginning of EP IV They should be called Imperial Governors. The Senate no longer exists I can't believe both SOE and LEC missed that. Unless they're planning to bump the timeline to post EP-VI

This is why they now carry the blue glowy forum title.
They have no function anymore, they are just players, who have access to some extra forum.
It's ironic, how close this is to the SW storyline.
The chancellor(Raph) was asked to help the poor world of Naboo (pre-cu people). He tried, but was quickly overruled by bureaucracy(SOE), the true rulers of the senate (SWG). Eventually, a new chancellor was elected (Julio), the population of Naboo helped themself (emu), vader has risen (NGE) and everyone went on their merry way.
They are players (paying).
They have no power or influence.
They are under no contract with regard to their attitude, thought they may get relieved, but I'm not even sure of that, since their position is merely a different forum title now.
They were at one point representatives for various parts of the game, but that was canceled with NGE.
Some of them are OK, but several are just flat out dev sucking fanbois.

ya, the senators are nothing more than nge cheerleaders. they dont speak for anyone because they have no one to speak to.
For the Horde!
BUT... since they will never roll that one back, he's been telling them the best stuff to put in.
He's not a brown noser. As a matter of fact, he was asked specifically to ask our forum community what it would take to get the vets back. He told them, in NO uncertain terms, a complete rollback or classic servers. When they countered with "Other than that".. he said "NOTHING short of that will bring them back".
So we have at least ONE working for us.

So, this makes me think that SOE can't do it...not won't but CAN'T. Any company with half a brain would do this to make more money. What could this reason be? I know it's not from technical issues. Anybody with some degree of tech knowledge knows that it is possible. Could it be a legal issue with the original code, or LA forcing their hand? If so, why would LA do that?
Ok, I'm boggled

True, I have seen a Senator (dont remember which one) say some things that definitely weren't pro-NGE before, and that truly brought a smile to my face as thats a rare thing to see in the official forums. I only wish there were more Senators like that, as it would more accurately represent the true concerns of the community on the current state of the game. Seems most of the Senators are too afraid to lose that shiney golden forum title to actually be effective as community representatives. And some of them even seem to have developed SOE-Syndrome, wherein their disdain and lack of respect for the average player becomes plainly obvious.

To add to this I dont think anyone has ever really stopped and thought about the fact that maybe SOE probably had no choice in the matter of the NGE or rollback, its alot more feasable that LA's was responsible for it and responsible for not giving us a rollback.
Heres why I say this. My theory is that LA wanted more money so SOE said they would make some modifications (CU). Then when sales didnt improve enough to make LA happy LA probably said that they wanted to head in a new direction (battlefront anyone) and so know we are stuck with it.
Another factor Influencing my theory is never in SOE's history have they ever changed the core gameplay of any game they run help run or host so dramatically. An example would be going semi turned based to fps (swg).

Incorrect...
NGE was 100% SOE's idea. Their lead developer named Jeff Freeman came up with the whole thing. He posted in his personal blog the whole disgusting story about pitching the idea to Torres.
Its simple really on why SOE wont roll back the game, PS3
Timelines seldom meant anything to Lucas, who the hell makes Episode IV first?
As for Darth Sushi, imagine being in his job. First, he works for SOE. The scapegoat of an entire generation of gamers. Then on the forums dealing a bunch of swashbuckling infants day after day. You'd have more than a pissy post every now and then too. We all have our days, but like him, I'm looking forward to a playable EMU too.

It seems as if they've been simplifying SWG for PS3 for a long time now, probably since the CU, which could've just been the 1st step in implementing the NGE later on, wouldn't put it past SOE to do something like that. Seems SOE has been positioning itself for this new Launchpad to work with the PS3, and the Station Pass bundle of games is gonna be the emphasis, not individual subscriptions. Eventually they will start charging us for certain ingame items, this is the reason they introduced bio-linked items, and no-trade items, to get us used to the idea, least imo. SOE wants to change its business model and SWG became a pawn in that process.
And I feel no comfort from SOE telling me "SWG isn't getting ported to console" over and over, when Sony has already stated they don't consider PS3 to be a "console", its a computer in their opinion, so the denials could all just be a technicality based on word-play, gamers will be able to access and play SWG from a PS3 I believe, we'll find out soon enough...
And Pre-CU will return, either by emu or by LA re-release as "Classic SWG:ED" once they deem the current SWG to be so NGE'd/PS3'd that its different enough to have both versions on the market without having what suits like to call "product confusion", where you have 2 similar products by the same company competing against each other essentially. LEC & Hasbro recently did something like this for the release of the SW Trivial Pursuit, which they had multiple variations of (like OT, Prequel, etc), they made sure each version had its own run on the shelves, to maximize their overall profits.

Definately all the good ones are gone... Tanks, SonG, among others. We started bleeding off the great correspondents around and during the CU, and the rest left with or not long after NGE.
All that are left are the $OE synchophants. BadgerSmaker being the worst one... All that guy does all day is run around the forums arrogantly supporting ANYTHING SOE does, the NGE, and everything else. He will blatantly flame and insult people with impunity. He's like Thunderheart and GarVa's love child.
Actually I would go farther and say Lucas Arts has no concept of time at all. Hell there hasn't been a significant technological change in the entire Star Wars Universe in 4000 years give or take.
