So EA has bought Mythic...

How do you think this will affect W.A.R? I personally don't like it very much. Not to fond of EA.

    EA is pretty facelss, who knows how this will go. Sounds to me like the big wigs at Mythic wanted a higher salary. But the again, EA is also responsible for Spore and funds Will Wright, they could be good. It is kind of iffy though, a big name has never made a popular MMO. But then again, I'd be kind of disapointed if WAR was the next EVE or WoW and those came from small companies.

    Sounds like Mythic had enough bargaining power to make sure they got a good deal... lets hope so.  I'm not a fan of EA but I do have a lot of faith in Mythic and I know they won't stand for letting their company be driven into the ground.

    Of course they do. Warhammer is looking to be the frontrunner for "WoW killer" status, and it's got enough momentum that people are looking at it with greedy eyes a whole year before it's scheduled release.

    If there's any one good thing to come of this, it's that when the release date is announced, it will be final. ;) But if Mythic manages to get an extension for the release date, that's just only better news since it means Mythic does indeed have a lot of leverage.

    What do you mean the next EVE or WOW? The next ‘hardcore’ game from a small little company (CCP) or the next ‘for the masses’ game from a powerhouse (Bliz) owned by a big multinational corporation? Or do you mean you don’t want it to be either?

    Warhammer which was already having issues just took a nose dive.. First its original developers bailed on it, now Mythic sells its soul to EA who has been known to bail on MMORPG'S (See EnB) and destroy others see UO....

    I was definately all in for Warhammer. 

    I'm still pretty excited about it given games workshop's involvement and the apparent commitment demonstrated by mythic, and mythics DAoC but...  I am going to be more cautious.  Some times moves like these add more money, ability and resources, but sometimes they interfere and cause problems.  hmmm, going to watch and wait.

    EA is the greediest bunch of corporate leeches in the gaming industry with assimilating abilities that surpass even the Borg itself. They care about the buck and only the buck and no game since Skate or Die has been of any quality basically, everything they touch turn to a half assed product which is conveniently dumped and left for the wolves as soon as it hits release day.
    I thought of Mythic as the small independent but very successful and probably most dedicated MMO-house in the scene and with the most integrity as well but this has changed my view entirely. Especially as Mythic doesn't even need any money to make WAR into a great game and goodwill alone would have made the ad campaign a breeze. As Sanya said herself: "we KNOW the history of all previous deals" should've been warning enough to stay the hell away from them but it all comes down to the dollars in the end I guess. Just goes to prove anyone and everything can be bought, even old time heroes of mine like Mythic :/.

    Hah, deep commitment? This is like something stated by an Enron executive at a stockholder meeting. No commitment from EA has been deep in the online gaming market. They more and more release games that get pushed out unfinished with loads of bugs, don't care about fixing them and jump to the next game. Rinse, repeat, fill the coffers.

    I just hope they can make the game they wanted before "second
    quarter of fiscal 2007" when EA will screw up what could've been one of the best MMO's ever.     Well big companies love to rush their products out. They also like to take overslowly or all at once ad influence the game majorly. I just don't hope to see WAR out sooner than expected and then need lots of fixes and changes to the game. I just don't want a buggy riuhed game to come out that people will try and lose interest in fast.

    I also don't want EA to influence the game and turn it into a complete failure. I hope Mythic stays true to their vision and EA don't turn it into a complete and utter piece of crap.

    DAOC is one of my favorite MMORPGS of all time. Mythic did awesome job with RVR gameplay. I just don't hope EA takes over Mythic and make the game go downhill like other companies in the pass have done with a few games. When big major companies come into the picture it make me worry that they game will become watered down version of what it should have been or what it could have been. These companies are driven by money and just makes me worry about the future of WAR now that another company will be controlling Mythic.

    I hate EA so much, they do nothing but making money with bad and dumbed games. Let's hope WAR wont be one of them, of course I'm still excited about war but.....I don't think that this was a wise choice.

    In some ways EA is even worse than SOE (yea I know it sounds impossible).

    EA = Patch Wasteland
    EA = No Innovations
    EA = Dumbed down Games


    SOE can do that too but....not in that dimension.

    Seriously, I'm almost crying I hope it's just a rumor.

    Yes everyone here Don't want another WoW since the game sucks has no end game content!!!!!
    Heck its not even on the top 10 list on this site. yea WoW might have sold 6million units but hell GW a Free mmorpg sold 2 million. well WoW was on the chart for being the top game but now its sliding people are looking for something more, Not a Dumb down version of DAOC or EQ  witch WoW is




    Mythic on the other had is now considerd a Sell out  I hope they dont bitch b/c people are selling accounts on ebay and plat on ebay since they sold out to all of their dedacated members of Daoc.
    my focus now is Age of Conan  maybe this company wont sell out! I dont feel like playing warhammer in a Sim world anyways    SIM WARHAMMER IN STORES NEAR U only 59.99   15 bucks a month patches between 7:00est -8:00 est  :)

    Did you guys notice the game dropped a notch on the hype meter?  Not nearly as preciptous drop as Vanguard made when SOE got involved with that game, but I guess the news is still pretty fresh.

    You are all right when you say: EA products fails in quality. But thats normal cause quality costs money, and patches cost money too. With a mmorpg they can harvest more money and they must patch it or people wont play it anymore. I think its a new territory for EA but when EA earns money they will make it good.
    And tbh i dont think EA will intercept Mystic in WAR. They want just a piece of the cake.
