History repeats itself. I'm done with corporate games. Gameplay is the most important to me; not putting money into the pockets of the corporation that can afford the best graphics, artists, licensing and largest development team.
Did you guys ever think that EA could see there past mistakes? serriously the reason EA has lasted a long time is fixing there mistakes. besides if EA wants lots of players they will keep it pvp why you ask? beacause 500,000 to 1 million people are bored of wow raid content and want skill based pvp and want to try something new? Why would they make a carebear game exacly like it? it would be so similar to other things coming out in the market.
and to the person who say corperate mmo's suck I ask you this. What was the last successfuly indie mmo that was a masssive success?

EvE and Runescape, players are getting sick of the large corporate games that aim for the lowest common denominator and only worry about getting your buck in the short-term rather than maintaining a quality game.
Well one thing people fail to realise and scream whenever EA or SoE get involved with a smaller cmpnay game is this.
WAR has the potential of been the next 1m+ sale mmorpg easily. But take WoW it did it by have a wide distrubtion network and advertizing power .
Mythic i think might not be a small fish but its certainly not a big one and may not be able to do this.
Granted EA did cancel a sequel to UO twice and like M$ have been narrow minded as regards mmorpg in the past. But the $$$$ is in their eyes and i think they will look to WAR to be their WoW competitor .
AS long as they leave creative part of the game to mythic its a good deal.WAR needs to drag in new players and it has the potential to do so but like WoW it needs to be advertized widely.Relying on picking customers from existing mmorpg is a risky buisness .
Sure many in WoW,DAoC,EQ series and even lineage are waiting for WAR but when the day arrives its always been proven to get ppl to drop their level 60 with uber hammer of death to get into a new game even if they are totally bored with their current game is hard.I remember many of my wow guild members say how bored they are of the game but yet only a handful of s left and rest just wanted to hang on to their epic chars and the thought of making a new char in a new game with a 1 dmg stick was too much to bear.
WAR needs to do an WoW and pick up new clients then rest will follow.

and to chris, EVE may have been a success but a tiny one. When I think of success I think of 100,000 subs not 40k subs

Ehh it might not turn out as bad as we all think. Maybe in Warhammer when you get killed in PvP John Madden will say "BOOM! Tough actin' ownage".

I cant fathom why mythic would sell out less they were offered no less then 500-900 million in cash.EA stock is about as good as toilet paper.WAR is looking very promising right now and i could honestly see it breaking the 1 million mark for at least 3+ years.so were the hell is the attraction for getting bought out at this point?iDid these people learn nothing from blizzard selling out vivendi?
lets all pray to jebus, budah, allah or whoever you pray to that EA goes down enron style in the next 2 months so WAR fans are not paying for EAs red ink.
"Mythic has always been a leading independent developer in the online space," says Mark Jacobs, CEO and co-founder of Mythic Entertainment. "EA's commitment to the online market as well as its focus on creating games of unsurpassed quality, scope and scale gives us opportunities and resources we could only dream about in the past."
"The addition of Mythic to the EA family reflects our deep commitment to the online gaming market worldwide. Mythic will bring one of the industry's most talented MMORPG teams to EA. Together, we will create games that will introduce MMO players to a whole new level of game play and excitement," said Paul Lee, President, EA Studios.
I think Mr lee needs to spend some time talking to earth and beyond players. Then go and get a cat scan for brain tumers since he could be selling the next big thing for chicken feed or junk stocks.
The strength of the Games Workshop franchise is the passion that people have for that game universe. The people at GW are all mad keen fans of the game and the stories that add so much depth to both Warhammer and WH40K. My worry is that EA is just another corporate goliath that won't really give a damn about the actual franchise and will simply approach it in a cold, calculating profit-maximising way. Now all that matters is the bottom line and not the storyline.
Bad news.

Hooray! Another great compnay with a flawless record, that EA decide to cancel all development for and then trash the whole company, to incorporate its programmers in thier yearly sports game releases. Super! One of the best MMO makers just.. got killed and disappeared by the company that is known for how many other companies they have just destroyed, made nonexistant.
Super.... great... And I liked Mythic, I will hate to see it disappear so they can make NHL 2008 and 2009 and 2010 and... and...

Whether EA meddles or not, I'll be playing WAR when it launches. I've waivered in faith in the game, yes, but, I'll still be there, because I think that GW and Mythic combined may have enough gall to prevent any major changes to WAR forced by EA.
There's reassurances from both Mythic and GW in there. It may be complete BS, but I'm comforted, and only time will tell if EA puts WAR down the tubes.

ok I guess I was looking at a old eve subs chart.
but runescape is a free game, so its only fit to compare it to other free games like maple story

Hmm my posting isnt here anymore? Ok then i write it again. ^^
I dont think its a bad deal. EA is greedy yes but hey its a company. On the other side EA has money to produce good games and yes EA must patch the game but in this time they get a monthly fee from their customers, so they can patch them. EA wants a piece from the mmorpg cake and they will get it, lets hope EA will handle it, but a mmorpg ist a constant development area where EA must contribute content during a long time or he customer will go away. And EA dont have the money to handle a mmorpg like a fifa game. They need subscribers.
And tbh i would patch a mmorpg with a monthly fee but i woudldnt patch a normal game cause its too expensive. People have bought it and wont buy it again like a mmorpg.

Allmost certain that War will be on console now..

Seriously I have no respect for EA and I am heartbroken to hear that Mythic has been swallowed by the pit of hell.

I think all the people saying they wont play it because EA have taken mythis are a bit silly, the game wont be out until next week ok?
