    Ticketed events?

Sounds like some politically correct way of selling in-game advantages. A horrible idea.

Those of us that play Simu's current games have stated over and over that Simu does not provide in game advantages for people that go on ticketed events or pay for the higher tiers. Of course not all past players agree. If you don't want to believe us, go try DR or GS for a month. I think it's still free to do so and you can get the perspective of their current players while your at it.

At the end of the day, we the consumers get to vote with our pocket books. So each and everyone of us will have a say.

Actually tiered pricing is a fine idea (IF it gets implemented at all).
There have been opinions voiced here that the lower tiers will not get
all the features, this is most likely true. But from another point of
view it can be also seen that the higher priced tiers finance a game
service that wouldn't be available otherwise. You may go on on how
unfair that is to those that won't pay for premium, very well.

    You
are absolutely free to delude yourself with your socialist/communist
fantasies that you have been playing on equal grounds in your typical
mmorpg in the past, but you never did. From UO on there have always
been macroers, ebayers and the leveling services, growing in
    sophistication as the games did.

From day one there were those
who were willing to pay for an edge, and there were always those
willing to provide it. You don't enjoy living in a tiered world? How unfortunate, because you do, and no amount of bickering is going to change
    that.

The only difference here is that there is an
aknowledgement of that fact and at a date long before release, as opposed to 3 months after (this is an arbitrarily chosen example time frame). Also, this way there is at least the possibility that the
money spent by the greedy for all the nifty extras is used for development instead of
being siphoned of by 3rd parties.

In closing, from here it looks like Simutronics is pioneering into a new field with this and other things they announced, if only a little. A niche game? Perhaps, but that hasn't to be a bad thing, since at the time of this writing EVE sits squarely at the top of the ratings at this site, and CCP's customer base is laughable compared to those of the big players on the market.

    Best regards

Once again, you are overlooking perception. I think those of us who don't want to see or encourage tiered pricing for Hero's Journey, because we had been so looking forward to it, are loudly voicing our opinions now in hoping we will outshout you who are accepting the tiered pricing. When HJ offers their polls on their website, I guess we will find out whom is outshouting whom.

In the meantime, although we will be watching for future developments-since HJ is so far away-we aren't as excited as we were. We are more cautious now and watching other games in development. We=my guild.

Anyway, the scenario you are picturing, Diviana, seems to me just ripe for eBay sales. I really wonder how many players, even of those who can afford eBay, want this trend to continue. The perception is, and you know it, that if only players who can afford to buy the best, will have the best, then that doesn't sound like fun. I suppose I should include the power gamers in that group, since someone has to loot the loot to be able to sell it. Anyway you look at it, not fun for casual players.

Simu has always tried really hard not to give a premium payer an advanatage over a non-premium. As far as advanacing in their games went. (Even the hunting area DR premium got wasn't a big advanatage. Just a quieter hunting place.) The extra perks were largely in the ways of RP tools, extra locker space, advanced ticket sales with a slightly lower ticket price, and a quicker CS response time. (Which honestly was only minutely quicker.) There are also a ton more free events going on per year then pay events. Pay events were usually festivals, auctions or immensely huge quests that took days to complete by a large group of people working together.

All in all though. What the pricing structure and/or possibility of pay events will be is still up in the air. You'll probably see a few polls pop up on the official site about the subject before anything official is announced. Simu has always collected feedback on such subjects before making decisions.

Your not making a very good case to have this tiered pricing or to buy the top tier if you do have it. This is going to create an elitist attitude inside the game even if the differences are minute. Why not break the $15 a month and charge a few dollars more to spin a higher profit? Im the average Joe, trust me on that and this game sounds very interesting BUT tiered pricing means I spend my money on another MMO where everything is able to be had if your willing to work for it. The purpose of "elite" gear is to show the work you put in to get it, wheres the effort in buying it?

First, let me start that I in no way speak for Simutronics on tiered pricing or ticketed events.  I am also one of the GMs that has not played in previous Simutronics games (Dragon Realms, GemStone, etc), so I have no idea exactly how those work.  Now, onto the meat of my message.

I know that there are many role players in MMORPGs.  And, in the past, there have been guild-held events, such as weddings, or raids, or what have you.  It's a way to put more creativity into the game, as well as share in a community event.  it brings people together for more than the static content that most MMO's offer.

Now, if you had the opportunity to hold a wedding or event, with a GM running the event ... maybe with some "surprises"  (oh no, those rabid kobolds are in the cake, and someone stole the ringbearer!), would you jump at that chance?   Keep in mind though, that is staff being set aside to handle the player event for a specific subset of players.  As far as ticketed events, I see the "extra money" for the "ticket" as an investment in the time a GM spends writing, preparing and executing an event.  It's a personal touch.  I remember back in the beginnings of EQ, a GM actually came down for an hour or two and held an event just for my guild.  The topic of the event had to do specifically with players in the guild, the event played out and we experienced something that no one else would in EQ, because it was a one-time event...just for us.   i have to say that, if the GM wanted to charge me an extra couple bucks for it, I'd have said "Sure!"

As far as the game becoming unbalanced...I don't think players will be able to send an email to a GM saying "i want the X29-uber Sword and the Faragut Armor of Invincibility.  Here's my check."  That just wouldnt be fair.

In closing, I do know that this forum, and several others , are constantly being read and that any decission on this matter will only be forthcoming after all the information has been thoroughly thought on.  Whether you like the idea or not, your voice and thoughts will be heard.

I'd pay extra if I could get my very own My Little Pony unicorn mount. In pink or purple, preferably.

What? Er...I mean....a big, manly, studly warhorse with like, guts in its teeth and stuff. Yeah, that's what I meant.
