This was a good event and besides the lag which was expected (on Eclipse we've had 6 huge player events in our history that had the exact same lag situation) it went ok. Hopefully this event was a good learning experience to fix up some lag issues and have the next one a bit better. I'm still waiting for my combat vehicles

    rofl rofl rofl.

I call shenanigans.  There were some bad lagfests on Eclipse, but never enough to crash a server.  You lagged, you didn't get logged off.  Several other ones went off fine without a hitch.  Furthermore, those live events (with the exception of fall of wrenpire) were not planned events months in advance, but many times spur of the moment events, or controlled events with a limited number of people.  So apples to oranges, I love these fanbois sometimes!

Blatant lies. I remember at least one that crashed the server and every COMBAT event with more then 100 people on each side was unplayable.

Seriously, stop pretending that even the latency was better back then, its ridiculous.

Yes pirrg, what you just said are Blatant Lies....

I went to well over 50 PVP Events, of alll sizes, and the Lag was NO WHERE near that bad. Anyone remember the NS invasion of C-Net the weekend of Holloween 2 years ago? That had well over 200 people & 100 NPC's on my server. LAggy? Sure. As Laggy as Restuss? Not even close. Crash? Nope.

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

And plus the fact that SOE didnt hinge the success of their game on those events, nor did they take developers away from things like game mechanics and expertise systems to work on those events. The events weren't showcased at e3 nor were they advertised. Those events were like icing on the cake pre-cu. Restus *is* the cake and the only thing alot of people are paying for. SOE knows this, its the whole reason they created it, to dangle the carrot.

I dont know about anyone else, but if my event was gong to make or break the game for alot of people, I'd make sure the bugs were minimal, it didnt lag out and didnt crash. I'd do the best i could. If this is SOE's best, then they are in a sadder stater than i imagined.

    For the Horde!

Yep sure we had lag but this time the Devs SAID OTHERWISE would happen right???  Did you forget that this was asked of them?   Like:  "Hey Devs you have issues already with lag- won't this be bad?" --- Dev response:   "Oh no this will be fine and work just dandy... no issues will happen"....

Then the fact of the matter happend:  They were wrong again, we were right again.

I'll allow it to be around beginning of 05 where I was fasting from SWG for Lent.  That very well could be it, but then again that was around CU.  As far as EVERY combat event I wouldn't say that.  We had hundreds of people in a raid at Anchorhead.  Even with a horrid computer I still managed to rack up 25 kills and only die twice.  :)  With a swordman ranger rofl.  Just need to know where to fight.

Then there was the Battle of oasis, which had at least 100 people there, but it also lasted for about 12 hours.

And you also missed my point pirrg, as I predicted you as a fanboi would.  TO compare a planned event for months on every server with spontaneous events with 10 minutes planning is to compare apples to oranges.

You might not be lieing on purpose but you're definitely exaggerating the numbers. It doesnt really matter what you claim mate because i was there, i played the game from 3 months into release and any event with 180-200 or more players present turned into a slideshow. If the server crashed or not didnt really matter for the people present, because the game was unplayable either way.

Now that was just players shooting eachother, i cant even begin to imagine how much lag a massive change in the landscape creates.

Yeah i remember them stating that the lag was only because TC wasn't a "real" server and couldn't handle the amoun tof people, and that the live servers "would handle it with no problem" HA! Stupid SOE Devs, when the customers tell them of a problem they say that doesn't exist, and low an behold in the end the customers are right again. The people running this game are just completely dumb and delusional.
