Originally posted by Nihilis I'm glad you posted those screens Nimuel. I, like many others, dislike the more cartoony approach that WAR is taking and wish they would have taken a step towards artwork instead of the miniatures. I love the Warhammer artwork and I definitely think that graphics that were more realistic (in a fantasy setting) would definitely have still been true to the IP.
I'm definitely still playing this game because the RvR sounds like a blast but I just wish WAR's character models would have taken a more realistic approach.
I'd also prefer the more realistic path that Warhammer: Mark of Chaos is taking, but to be fair that is an RTS, and all the units have large similarities (there will be customization however), unlike in WAR where every unit will be more or less unique which requires a bit more juice from the computer. The big differnce so far arent really the models, it's the terrain and the buildings, here's screens of some greenskins and dwarves, they are very similar to the ones in WAR.
Lets just say i wouldnt complain if the WAR scenery looked like this :P
*edit* Here's a screenshot from WAR where you can see some scenery, and here's another, truth be told it doesnt look bad at all really, esp considering that there's still a year and a half of development to go through...

If you've seen what the Plague Bearer is going to look like from the early video blogs, you know the dark direction chaos is going.
I mean the T rating isn't going to stop them from having impaled heads and stuff. And with the plague bearer it has intestines hanging out and stuff like that.
Once we see the Empire and Chaos it'll be apparent where the art direction is going because those two are the more real world centered races.

I suppose I just wish I could play an orc that looked more like this. Mark of Chaos
But I guess it's kind of like saying I wish I had a Jetson's car since my comp probably wouldn't be able to run it very well.

Wow what a usless post I just made, was seeing if being as dull as you was actually fun. The only thing that it did was to make me feel sorry for you.
To sum up, No one cares if you dont like the game, no one asks you to like it, Mytic will not come round to your house with two gorilla sized, suited men and force you to pay and play it!
Although they could just come around to your house and beat the crap into you, might knock some sence into that empty troll head of yours.

Today we have stumbled upon the Forum Troll in its natural habitat... Crikey! Notice how fast it strikes, coming out of NOWHERE to deliver a one line attack post in the forums for a game it apparently has no interest in! And look how it riles up the natives so! This one is clearly an aged and experienced Forum Troll! We should all consider ourselves lucky to have gotten to experience such a sight first hand!
That's all for the show this week, please join us again on "Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom!"
hahahaha!! I never even read that until someone pointed me at it.
But i'm not going to get riled up. I am a forum troll also.. i think if everyone was honest... they'd realise that we're all forum trolls...
I must say, i am truely surprised that mythic and the war devs have come so far with this game. It looks both funny and realistic. Where many games have an "ooohh" factor with nice armour and weapons WAR has an "OOOHHHH I want that and that and that" factor.. you really don't need epics in a game, you just need cool looking armour and weapons. And something to hit.
I don't care what anyone else says about WAR, i don't care if the game is lagged or lacking in anything else. I'll buy the game just to play a troll or a goblin or an orc... just to kill dwarves...
I am guessing that the big green thing was a troll and not a misproportioned goblin...and if i can't be a troll, i'll just be a goblin and pretend i'm a troll...

you guys fail to see the art in the warhammer TT game...i'm sure this hs been argues and argued about but WoW stole the look from warhammer...sorry WoW fanboys thats how it went...
Apart from perhaps the look of the Orcs, there isn't much similar between the warcraft and warhammer worlds. There aren't factions like Brettonia, Empire, Chaos, skaven etc in warcraft, and the warhammer lore is ALOT darker and gothic. The orcs might look similar, but the background is completely different. Warcraft is probably the only game where the orcs aren't inherently evil. In warhammer the orcs are bred for war and love a good fight.
Having said that, I probably won't buy WAR. I've had it with fantasy mmorpgs, and the playstyle is too similar to WoW. However if mythic had instead gone for a Warhammer 40k mmorpg I would definately be interested.
If you read up on the last newsletter where they actually talk about two of the classes in depth, you'd see that it's going to be very unique and far different than WoW. I mean WoW had what? 5 classes? 6?
WAR has 24 unique classes. Seems to me the play style is going to vary greatly depending on which class you pick.
Going by the two classes that they've actually described the play style for, I think it's silly to even compare it ot WoW.

as much as i love WAR, i would advice a word of caution on this. EQ2 also has gazzilions of classes and they are all the same. or almost. WoW has 9 classes but they are all RADICALLY different from each other.
I much prefer WoW approach in that than EQ2
"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime"
Actually EQ2 has 12 classes for good and 12 for evil. And they're pretty much copies of eachother. Besides that the 12 classes are very different.
After checking out the description of the Dwarf tank class and the Orc tank class I was refreshed to see how different they were. Going by the descriptions that they give for them, they're going to be radically different, and they're practically the same class.
And the tank classes are usually the most similar. So going by that, I think it's safe to say the classes will be quite different.

Note a couple of things. It focuses on creating an imaginary world, the opposite of realistic (ie, the opposite of EQ2).
That's the whole point of an MMO! To create a fantasy world where the unreal is believable. They're bringing us into their world, not trying to imitate ours.
Of course, it takes atleast a small amount of brainpower to realize this stuff.

I would actually rather it be "M" if I thought it would sell as well as with a "T" rating, but I know that won't happen.
