So basically you're saying that some things historical documents shouldn't be trusted unless there is physical evidence for what happened. Even if there is a TON of evidence supporting the rest of the document. That's really ignorant... picking and choosing what to believe from accuate records.
Nothing in the Bible has been proven false, and there are many historical records in the Bible that have been found to be 100% accurate after they were belived to be false.
But back on subject...
The institution of marriage is biblically based. Therefore, the Bible is the final word on the subject. The Bible condemns homosexuality, and defines marriage as the bond between a man and a woman. The United States recognizes biblical marriage between a man and a woman as it should. If marriage is legalized between homosexual couples, it should have a different name, and should not be viewed the same as a heterosexual marriage because it is not the same.
The Bible cannot be changed. The laws of marriage should not be changed. If they are changed, then marriage will become a perversion of what it originally was and should be. Hopefully that day will never come.

Sorry but marriage existed long before the bible was even compiled and right now you dont need to even enter a church to get married, you dont need to be Christian to get married, so why should (some) Christian rules apply to marriage.... and you aknowledge things as perversion or moraly wrong because of a somewhat 1500 yo compilation of books choosed by some guy? and please tell me nobody can divorce right now? since it's against the bible!!!!
Hopefully times changes, and homosexuality WILL become a feature, like beeing small, or high, or blue, or green, or slender, or large, or have blue eyes, or brown eye, or having big ears, or black hair.... etc etc etc and they will stop being called abomination by intolerant groups of ppl.

Actually marriage was not around before the Bible. Having a mate...yes, but that's not marriage, having a mate is just a part. As I said Christian rules should apply because marriage is a Biblical institution. Yes, I see things as perverse and morally wrong, not only because of the Bible, but because common sense tells me that it is unnatural. And the Bible was not "choosed by some guy", it was chosen by God and it is the unfalliable Word of God.
I never called homosexuals an abomination. The people are loved by God and they have the free will to change. The act of homosexuality is the abomination, not the people who pratice it.

Sorry but marriage existed long before the bible was compiled like i said before, and it was considered marriage, even the rings came from the ancient roman tradition since they represented eternity.

Like i said in the other post, you dont need to enter a church to get married, so why should Christians have power on people of other/without religions. Marriage was religious until governments start to give tax benefits and protection to married couples, if governments who are "religion free" start discriminate individuals on features (sexual orientation) then it's not working correctly, since everybody should be socially equal.

Sorry for breaking those news to you but, there was more than 20 gospels written between 45 A.D to 140 A.D, and from those 20+ gospels MEN (the roman catholic church) choose 4 that should be followed.... tell me did God choose them, God didnt even vote on the councils to determine if it was right to choose those.... so how can you say it was chosen by God.... the gospels were written by men, and later compiled into a book by men... how can it be God's work...

I didnt say you did, but fact is, SOME Christians do call them, and preachers preaching intolerance, please dont tell me it doesnt happen... and as the act of homosexuality being an abomination, maybe in you religion it is, but dont generalize, Church's power is long gone, and thanks God for that...
