While reading my manaul i found this.
"Like many massively multiplayer onlne games, Star Wars Galaxies is a deep and ever-changing experience. As the game grows over time, new CONTENT, SYSTEMS, and GAME MECHANICSwill be added. We have tried to ensure that the Adventrue manual is up to date, but given the evolving nature of online games, there is no way to ensure that it remains completely accuarate or inlcuded information about every system in the game.
Sad but true
I agree that they ADD content, systems and game mechanics, but not kill all the game mechanics, all the professions and all the systems.
All of you know that Star Wars Galaxies was a good game, and Star Wars Galaxies NGE it's ANOTHER game.
To tell that the two games are the same game is to tell a lie.
No its not a lie. (Not that soe has never lied before) it is the "same" game just different. Since they stated "Game play may change" its their loophole to do what they did legally.
If you disagree feel free to take them to court. Let us all know how you do.

lol The game is called Star Wars Galaxies. Its still called Star Wars Galaxies. It has the same staff it did before, same producers and devolpers. The same company hosts it. It has all the same planets and cities. Players do not look any different etc.
Can you say the same for the examples you gave? Strickly speaking it is the same game.
I agree this is not a changed game but a new game. Hence NEW GAME Experience.
Also to those that mention eula .. Game Play may change. etc
This is a New Game..
It is no different from paying to play Euchre and in the middle of the game changing it to go fish. Just because u are playing with the same deck of cards does not make Euchre and Go Fish the same game.
I would be more then willing to put a months suscription ($15) towards legal action against SOE/LA.
It would be nice if someone organized a fund for a Lawyer willing to accept money from the community and using those funds to fight the good fight.
Regardless of whether or not it would be success would still be worth the money in my eyes. It would be a matter of principle.
A value of my time invested, money invested and a matter of ethics.
Wow so your legal argument is the changes where not added benefits in your opinion so SOE must provide a pre-cu server and bare all the costs or refund your money plus legal fees right? That they intended by doing this to rip you off of your money? That makes sense.

It is still a star wars mmorpg with a different combat system and less professions. You tell us what is different in your legal argument that makes it different. Um still an MMO yup, still role playing a character in star wars universe, check. Still got star wars content, check.
No offense but what is "New Game" since you quoted it as a new game. I mean truly explain to us how it transformed. I hate the nge and the cu. With a total passion. I just think suing SOE is straight up as retarded as the nge concept is.

That SOE/LA were the first MMO to charge $15/Month and released the product unfinished and promised us a complete game and it would be a premium product???
That SOE/LA used our monthly suscriptions to make expansions instead of fixing/completing the game we bought. Then charging us for the expansions.
That the money and time SOE/LA put into CU and NGE were put into Pre-CU the game we purchased would of been completed?
I am sure that the answer to those questions show that they mismanaged our money.
They spent our money to be invested into Pre-CU on other things?
Why specific to Pre-CU???? When they released the game unfinished the told us that our money(investment) would be put into completing SWG which was then Pre-CU. We were paying for Pre-CU and our money was going elsewhere.
That is no different then going to a stock broker and telling him to invest DaimlerChrysler and then having him putting your money in ford.

Take a look at the above post. SOE/LA told us that even though the released game will be unfinished that they will still be charging us a monthly fee as the game was going to be a complete premium product.
We then tried the game liked the direction and payed to see it completed in that direction.
They basicly asked us to invest in Pre-CU and took our money and put it into expansions, CU, and NGE.
I did go into a Trading Standards office to have SOE products taken off the shelf's - how:

I then asked him about a product i payed for in advance and the company said they where updating - then showing evidence of removing nearly all of the old game and replacing it with a peice of software with more bugs than the previoius version and giving me no option not to accept it even though ive already paid for the old version - he said its all in the words "Game play may change" and if i want to fight this its back to sentence 1.
Im not saying dont try but im sure the trading standards office would have given me a diffrent answer if 100 other players had already filled complaints.

I think the lack of presidence would work in the favour of the first case but after that they would refer to that as presidence... so if you lost the first case then the judges would be quick to dismiss the rest.

Good point, but I think it actually fall under 'Intentions'.
Example: We all knew the game had problems, but we 'Intentionally' paid anyway because SOE/LA had 'Intentionally' promised to fix the current game and that they would 'Intentionally' add to the Current game of that time (Ranger Revamp anybody?). Alot of people 'Intentionally' pre-paid for a year based on SOE/LA's publicly stated and documented, 'Intentions'. Then SOE/LA 'Intentionally' went back on thier words and changed the entire face of the game with two weeks notice and no refunds. They 'Intentionally' misled thier paying customers in order to maintain revenues....
I could go on and on with this but I think everyone gets the point.
Wether or not this could actually hold up in any kind of court? I dont know. Im faaar from being any kind of lawyer.

I see alot of people saying this kind of thing (I knew the game was buggy or in trouble before purchase) well SWG was my 1st MMO so i didnt know what to look for - i presummed it was like any other single player game i played but with more players 24/7.
SOE never told me anywhere of the on going problems that plague the software they also did'nt mention that unlike single player games there software was unfinished - how could it be unfinished it's on the shop shelf's.
Once i had bought the software & bought a 1 month subscription was the 1st time i found out how buggy the game was.
Now if someone at SOE/LA was to say or post the NGE is not upto the quality of the CU or pre-CU that would be all i need to win a case for replacing my product with something of lesser quality but offering no kind of refund - perhaps this is why SOE wont give vets pre-NGE servers because all they would need to do is let slip a comment and that would be it.

If you do go to the courts how will you prove that they went above their statement of "This game may change during play" statement?
The best way to do it would be to get an attorney general involved, such as Elliot Spitzer of New York. What the operators of MMO's can do with regard to massive product changes is right now unregulated, and consumers have little protection beyond the mercy of the operator. Sooner or later this must change, as has happened in all other industries, when there is no regulation at all corporations will abuse the customer.
SWG would seem to me to be the IDEAL test case.
If any of you live in New York state I'd write to the guy.
Why don't you write to him? Or does he only take letters from people in state? lol
It'd be much better for a New York state attorney general to hear from a citizen of New York than a citizen of Kentucky, wouldn't it?
the attorney general in kentucky is greg stumbo. he got me a $1000 refund from a shady car lot.

The proof is NGE and CU. What more do u need?
Instead of working on Pre-CU efforts were eslewhere. Also from what i understand the original combat revamp which was in the works never made it. It was however replaced with CU, then NGE. Others may be able to confirm this. I believe it was even beta tested and had approval as well but was scrapped anyway.
If they spent the time they did on CU and NGE on Pre-CU would it not have been complete by now?

I don't think anyone buys software with the expectation that it's bug free (or 100% 'complete'), especially games and mmos.
Ico Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.
what someone needs to do is write up a complete in depth case file. include the history of swg, all the promises soe made to the players, tell what promises went unfullfilled and wat ones actually came, deeply describe every complaint you have with soe and put all other relevent info in there. make it look proffesional and then post it on the forum get suggestions to make it better or for things your forgot and then make a final copy and re-post it and then email it to those interested and then we can start giving them to lawyers around where we live until we find one who thinks he can win a case and get us some pre-nge servers or mayber even a rollback. then if we do find one we can start a fund to pay for it and get this shit rolling

Yes is there anyone out there that would want to head something like this up? It can't be me as I am in canada.
I would though once someone has set something like this up with a lawyer and a legal fund be willing to donate monies. I am sure many others would be willing to donate at least a months supscription $15 to this cause.

the attorney general in kentucky is greg stumbo. he got me a $1000 refund from a shady car lot.
What proof do you have that SOE/LA purposely lied to you in order to keep you paying, while they developed the CU/NGE? You may not agree, but the CU was an attempt to fix the pre-CU game.

Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.

Yes is there anyone out there that would want to head something like this up? It can't be me as I am in canada.
I would though once someone has set something like this up with a lawyer and a legal fund be willing to donate monies. I am sure many others would be willing to donate at least a months supscription $15 to this cause.
Win or lose I believe it is worth the money.
