Originally posted by janjanson Firstly the USA is the most powerful country in the world so, you are going to get a whole load of cr*p for no other reason than this, people are jelous. Secondly I don't understand the phrase "Monday morning quarterback", if you mean people are ill informed and passing judgement based on less than all the facts, well this is just human nature again, get over it m8, it happens everywhere and on every subject. Thirdly (like my format? hehe, sounds like I know what I am going to post next but I don't hehe) er, yeah holding a generation responsible for previous actions, again people are going to do this, it is stupid, so ignore it. Fourthly some non-US peeps like the USA, like me . Fifthly no country is perfect. Sixthly, people do have a right to rant and rave though, and I think they have a right to do this whether they have ever lived in the states or not, also as not everyone is a history braniac, some of them will be mis-informed. Seventhly If you get upset by somebody ranting against your country it is because you are thinking like them a little, let me explain, if I can. Everyone is an individual, with individual ideas etc so making a blanket statement against a whole nationality is usually going to be in error, ok I believe this anyway. So if somebody does this and you get upset it is because you are identifying yourself with the idea that a nation can be treated as a whole and that you see yourself as part of the whole, see what I mean, I didn't explain it too well. Eighthly it is not just you guys, the French get a lot of stick, so do the English, Iraqis, Canadians, hell I bet every nation gets a good roasting occasionally. I hate nationalism and patriotism myself, it is like "Yay! lets feel superior because of the geographical location of our mother when we popped into the world" Lastly I would advise you don't get too stressed by what people say on the intreweb, For instance some fanny(means c*nt in UK EDIT: though a more lighthearted way of referring to the womans sexual organ than c*nt) posted "what is wrong with the IRA?" the other day lol I was going to answer but ...meh I figured it was just a flame bait. Edit: I realise of course that I just responded to the flame bait, chalk one up for the flame baiter.
Well the only thing i dislike about the US is when the US citizen say "the USA is the most powerful country in the world" like it's some great feat... what do you mean by powerful? owning more nukes than anyone else? do you think the most powerful country in the world should have ppl doing 3 shifts to pay the rent? like they have the best healthcare... the best growing economy... or the best education... . I lived in the US for a while, and i have great US friends, but comments like yours need some humility. Everybody hate arrogance...

What radio stations do you listen to, then? Most US radio stations deal with domestic issues, though the few forays into foreign policies are usually laced with distrust... I don't know about you, but most of our AUSTRALIAN radio stations play music...

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Okay - I'm not anti-American and whatever, but when the situation is put like THAT... all you can do is: "Yeh, good point... stop crying USA: you spilt milk, stop pointing at your siblings and clean the $hit up!"

The problem is, America do -ALOT- of things which anger the public. The internet is an awesome place to vent fustration annonymously without any comebacks, which is why you see so many 'anti american' tidbits posted on the net.

I am sorry if I appeared to be arrogant, but I honestly thought it was a statement of fact, not being from the USA myself I don't know how it could be seen as arrogance.
Even if the USA isnt' the most powerful nation on the planet it is one of them, by powerful I am talking about military and ecenmoic clout, my point was that some people are jelous of that.

Really, no offense was intended.
Yes because super powers are always humble, Im sure Britain was humble at its peak. "the sun never sets on the British empire."
Just like Im sure the Roman empire was incredibly humble too.
When the Germans took over most of Europe in WW2, look how humble they were.
My point here is yeah its tacky to be arrogant about it, but its even tackier to deny the flat out truth.
