Im actually not sure where I got that train of thought from. But like the article says, the Bible strongly implies that no other life exists and I guess I got that from it too.
Its a testament (no pun intended) to the interpretetive nature of religious texts that many people can get compeletely different impressions from the same words.

How large was our sun at the formation of the earth 1.5bil years ago or so? What was the nature of our sun - did it give off more radiation then? Was it larger than it is now? Was it smaller? Was its gravity greater at all? How close was it to the earth and what affect would this have on the planet so many years ago? Was it closer? Was it further away?
Anyone care to take a stab at those questions? I'm sure the information is out there. I just don't have the time to research it at the moment...
If the bible and other books related to their respective religions are to be believed. Then we are the only life in the universe.
I think someone may have already answered this... but by definition I'd say that Satan and other angelic beings are extraterrestrial or were extraterrestrial at one point but may be terrestrial. Satan, I think, can come and go from this world, although he was thrown out of heaven - wherever that may be - and down to this world. I also believe that demons - once extraterrestrials - are now terrestrial and live among us. Now this shouldn't inspire terror in any Christian. And whether or not I'm superstitious that depends on your beliefs and the ultimate truth. The Bible does speak strongly about beings other than humans; to say otherwise is completely contradictory to what Scripture teaches us.
Edit: Oh yeah... And about God being a God only of 'men'. The Bible also holds to the principal that God is the God of everything. In the Old Testament, God allowed his People to win a battle against another people because these people had supposedly claimed that God was a god of the plains or hills or something and said that they could defeat God's People if they fought them on different battle grounds. Well, they didn't win. I believe that God is everywhere and over everything. I believe we live and move and exist within him. It would be like making a mini universe out of a portion of our body and then saying that our body is omnipresent within that universe. Well? It would be, wouldn't it? It would also transcend that universe - be outside of it.

Lets make this simple. God creates universe and laws therein. He places systems to his liking. Lets them do as they please. He has goals in mind so when he needs to he interacts. He created a universe. At the least hundreds of millions of angels according to the bible. Now considering the fact he created two sentient species that we know of its not hard to say he could have made more. Im not actualy sure where the belief aliens couldnt exist came from though. Ive been christian my whole life and believed it was probable due to mathmatics that god put into place. That said my brother ardently didnt believe in aliens. When I asked him he said that he didnt know why, he just didnt believe. *Shrugs* Whatever the case recently in a talk, the elders were telling us there is no biblical reason they couldnt exist. Just because aliens came to this world, it doesnt mean the will or plans of god couldnt happen. Would be curious though how aliens compare religously. Due to the fact they didnt have the histor events of the christ as we did theyd liable have the same ideals. Just a diffrent preception. That is if you believe in a singular idealism similar to christanity being nescarry. I just dont know. I have a open mind.
What if God was an alien? Think about it…a being with advanced technology could seem like a supreme being. He might have been able to communicate with his “prophets” by telepathy. The burning bush could have been a projected hologram. Even the “immaculate conception” would be possible with today’s technology. Hmmmm…I think I’m on to something here!
I shoot for the curve... anything above that is gravy.
While entirely possible elemental collabratives which can be found in our surrounding would denote something more powerful then aliens. Mind you its possible. Highly improbable though. The best evidence of interaction can be found in middle east. In a series of events a scarifice was consumed by what the prophets called a tounge of fire from the sky. It consumed the sacrifice, the altar, and objects in surrounding. Yet it didnt create any apparent heat in the area outside the beam. Some archeologist decided to dig in the region where the sacrifice was supposed to be consumed. Considering land movement and the effects of erosion they knew thered be no evidence on the surface. Albiet they took samples at the surface. No clear evidence was found. When they dug they kept sampling. With that much heat some sort of evidence would be there if it had happend. At 10 feet where they assumed the mount was, as thanklfully the region noted in the bible was know, they found the evidence. Blue glass globules. The type of glass youd find in a nuclear furnace. THe heat required was undeniable or refutable. Albeit the source can be. By the way im trying to dig up the damned report.... they had pictures of the samples and everything.
nah, i wasnt joking, give me proof that its more.....u believe in that evolution crap?
Evolution has nothing to do with this I'm afraid, its an entirely seperate concept. As to proof:
The first human city was built around 10,000 years ago
Primitive, semi temporary settlements have been discovered as far back as 50,000 years ago.
The fossil record includes creatures that go back to around 2 BILLION years ago.
The dates in question were taken with extremely reliable dating methods. Methods which cannot be decieved by anything other than deliberate sample alteration. The results were not faked, they have been repeated and verified more than enough times by different people, who in some cases, had a stake in believing the dates to be false. The only concievable way for these dates to be false is if God wanted us to believe something other than the truth about the Earth, just chew on that one for a while.
Nearly every single religious official on earth recognizes the truth of this, and it does not bother, contradict, or interfere with their beliefs. you are putting yourself in the same camp with all the nutjobs in history. The ones who still claim the earth is flat, the UFO watchers, and conspiracy theorists everywhere. Go on and join them, they're pretty lonely, watching the rest of the world go on by.

What method persay can not be decieved. Surely not carbon or radioactive isotope decay? Those methods are as unreliable as heck which is why so few religous archeologists use it in there claims. Diffrences in background radiaion and conditonals can make the readouts highly erratic. In fact in many mainstream archeologists are trying to come up with more reliable manners to test for age. The main reason is isotopes decay radically diffrent in diffrent conditions. A minute increase or decrease in humidity can add thousands or millions or years to the scale of a objects age. Multiple fluctations can make a object unreadable. A excelent example of this is when student at MIT were able to show that a page of paper which was 100 years old always showed up as 1230 years old because it was stored incorrectly. The eldest city in the world we know of did in fact test as 10000 years old, the only problem is radio carbon dating put it at 15,000. Geological dating put it at a little over 6500ish. In anycase the better argument of humans being older then the biblical scale is the fact there are fossils of humanlike creatures which used instruments like humans before us.
The fossil record includes creatures that go back to around 2 BILLION years ago.
I thought the earth was only considered to be 1.5 billion years old? I could have sworn I read that somewhere.

I agree. The procedures and math you use may be perfect, but if the reasoning you base the math on is at fault, then your conclusions will be in error.

Unfortunately no sources Id trust to put on this forum. There are so many scales of equilibrium. If the Carbon 14 and 12 stay in equilibrium and the degrade consistently then the objects are relatively easy to date. Due to the fact conditional situatuons can put object out of equilibrium then you run into the situation where a normal test mite yeild a result you like. Then a object not far away doesnt match. More then one scale does exist though and if used in unision the 4 methods of Carbon dating will yield reliable results. You just need to know the conditions the object went thru to a degree. Intrestingly according to a carbon test some mammoths were here in the era post flood. Now creationist almost blindly say thats proof the test was wrong because there were no mammoths after the flood.. prob is .. why cant there be mammoths after the flood. Hehe if the test is correct, perhaps the species died out AFTER the flood. In anycase thats another discussion entirely when it comes to the flood. Very VERY intresting!
