Screwing up one game doesn't a bad company make.

EQ2 is a great game. If you don't like it just because it's an SOE game, well that's pretty childish isn't it?

Still, Theyre both equally great IMO.

Every Normal and PvP EQ2 server hits high load almost every night and this was as true 3 months ago as it is now.

Guess I didn't read that close enough. Wth are you talking about MMORPDEATH?

Have you even played EQ2? I don't know what planet you're on but the servers tend to reach heavily populated every night.

ive already played some games, and i guess, when im "done" with the one im playing, ill proly try EQ or EQ2.
but, i was just wandering, whats the diffrence between EQ and EQ2? i thought that maybe they made such a big patch that they called the game EQ2, and not EQ when the patch came. not that they had both games up and going. so, again :) whats the diffrence?
    thank you for your answers..

I think the new Chinese MMORPG "IMAST TEKECHIT" will blow both of them away.  But that game will not release until sometime in 2007.

I usually play during the mid-afternoon and besides the pvp servers(which were brand new when I first started playing), most servers were "medium" or "light" which I assumed was a  lie knowing SOE's definition of "medium" as an ex-SWG player.  I only played on the PVP server, but when I started playing the forums and reviews on Amazon and the like were PACKED with ppl saying that everything was empty on most servers, so its not like I'm making this up. Obviously at primetime  things are better, Im just saying that there were many similarities between DAOC and EQ2 when I played(within a month of each other, Actually  I think I played Eq2 in march and DAOC in may).

Common sense should tell you servers will not be at high load in the middle of the afternoon unless the game has some serious population distribution issues.  The server has to be able to support the load in peak hours, if it’s hitting high load in off peak hours then it will be overloaded during peak hours.

You play during the afternoon while the kids are school and 99% of the adult population is working.

Think about that a little. Of COURSE it's dead during that time of day.

No, I don't see any similarities between the two. I've played both games and EQ2 is better all around.

just because I usually play around 3-5pm doesnt mean i have NEVER played late. The server i was on, nagafan was PACKED but there were NEVER more than one-two heavy servers-like DAOC-and the rest were all "medium". As Ive said before, "medium" is a very vague term when it comes to SOE. Also, a problem with both DAOC and EQ2 is that the newb areas were completely empty in the old servers when I played, and yes I DID try them out.

Why are you guys so overprotective of EQ2? The population is very adequate, Im not criticizing it just pointing out that there are some limited(not limited to me as I love pvp and pvp only) options when it comes to ppl, particularly newbs starting in this game when it comes to server choice and a will for high-populations.

BTW let me point out that the LFG is rarely used(at least up to lvl20), most ppl spam the chatboxes to find groups(which is fine, there isnt much idle chatter in there anyway).

Things may have changed now seeing as I'm sure EQ2 awesome pvp has drained even more of the WOW playerbase and populations should be rising, but I'm just talking about what I saw then.
