Obviously tougher enemies should yield superior loot. You both want to get the best stuff in the game from grouping and soloing? I don't even want to play a game like that, that's just a fisher price game to me. I don't like raiding either by the way, I just have a sense of what's right and wrong in games. Lineage 2 and D&D online you can get the best loot in game without raiding I believe.
There is an easy way to decide, Brad grows a set and makes a no raid server and sees what the population is like. I bet he shuts down the raid servers right after

I don't recall where I read it, but recently one of the most rabid fans of raid loot said that even HE hated doing raids; all he cared about was the fact that you can get "superior" stuff from them.
So, let's see if I have this straight here... Set up an option to allow people to get the exact same kind of stuff while actually having FUN in the process?

I wouldn't have anything against it at all. I am in for giving everyone its game.
As long I don't have to put up with whinging soloers, that is an option. Sigil just has to take out of the game all the dungeons dedicated to raiding, although I think that it will be a big mistake, but that's only my opinion. The game will be playable but the comunity will disintegrate. Good and organized Guilds have little reason to exists in that environment, and the community will become redundant, since you can get anything with pick up groups without the needs to make strong bonds with others. (Yes I think the uber guilds are a positive thing for the community).

20% to raid is unacceptable.
That's Anofalye in all his full glory. The image of reason and dialogue.
What I find unacceptable is that people can be so arrogant to come in a forum of a game who is basically raid oriented, harrassing all the people who like raids only because "the little Lord" don't like raids.
Yes your majesty, Sigil is going to change the game just for you.
Anofalye your arguments might be right to a certain level, but this is just the wrong forum to discuss it. I suggest you go and discuss about raiding in the General forum where general issues are discussed. I really don't see why you have to discuss thousands of times this issue in Vanguard forums, this is not the only fucking game with raids, actually this is one of the few game who has limited raids, unlike EQ, EQ2 and WOW where best gear comes 100% from raids. The only reason why you want to discuss it here is because you want to piss everybody off with your intollerance. At least that's the way you come across.

It's called Final Fantasy, and pretty much everyone plays it. Trouble is, it's not an MMORPG.
If you want to solo the best content and get the best loot in an MMORPG, then you'll have to make it yourself champ.

Edge, shmedge. The only thing raid-aholics "need" is a game that forces other people to associate with them. That's why they keep calling everyone else "anti-social." The exact same way gankers use efeminizing names like "carebare" to describe people who don't want to roleplay prison rape gangs.

One man boycott? This game is not going to post "outstanding" subscriber numbers like WoW, Lineage, or even Guild Wars. There is plenty of boycott going on.
Raiders are the one needing a crutch, to do group content they must be grossly overpowered or they whine. All groupers want is raid gear not to overpower group encounters.

Most raiders ride the tailcoats of a few good players and then boast about their accomplishments. They couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag solo though. Raiding and inflated egos go hand in hand.

Maybe you are right. Some just lives on the back of the best raiders (usually Raid Leaders), and they are not good players, but same can be said about solo.
I find solo in MMORPGs very easy to play and very boring too, whilst you find solo challenging and exciting.
If you talk about capabilities as a player, personally I finished Oblivion in 1 week, and it is a solo game, with much more content than you can find in any solo MMORPG. I can play solo pretty well, prolly so well I burn all the content too fast, maybe that's one of the reason why I don't enjoy solo in MMORPG. I started Playing MMORPG to save money, I was grinding solo RPG so fast that I was buying a new game every 1-2 weeks, since I started playing online I am saving loads of money.
Anyway the main reason why I like raid games is because at least there is a variable that in solo play is absent...........the other players skills. Sometimes those players are good and can boost your game, sometimes are crap and they can fuck up all your good job. That's what I find exciting in group/raiding, the uncertainty, the knowledge that even if you try your best someone else can ruin it for you. So the big challenge here is to build a good network of friends or find a good guild which will limit the amount of damage made by clumsy players.
When we kill an Uber boss as a Guild, I am excited by the fact that we are a good bunch of players that can play together and achieve difficult targets. The actual uber drop is just a welcome plus, the prize for our hard work, but that's not what I look for when I raid.
I think lots of people has been shocked by EQ raids who would last up to 8 hours (if not 10), but those times are gone for good. Now the average lenght of a raid is 3-4 hour which is more or less an average play session. Also you don't have to play 5 raids a week to get the best gear. Once a week will be enough, you will take a bit longer than the hardcore one, but where s the rush? I won't be able to play as many raids as the hardcore ones, maybe 1 or 2 a week, but I am not bothered if I don't get all the Uber gear in a month. I just want to enjoy the game and the comunity, that's what I want. So I don't really understand what all the fuss about raids is all about.
What I really don't get is the reason why you keep posting in Vanguard Forum, as if it was the worst of the lot, when actually has less raids than any other game out there........
In Vanguard Forum you became just a stalker, by trying to upset people who wants to enjoy this game as it is.
First of all, there's no way to enjoy the game as it is, because it isn't - yet. We are talking here about a game currently in development. All we know at this time is that Vanguard said that 20% of the game will consist of raiding. You say that's "less than any other game."
Well, let's check your math: of all the people who ever played EQ or WoW, what percentage of their time was spent in raids?
Maybe more than 20% of the CURRENT players of EQ are raiding; but that's what, less than 1% of the total time played by everyone who ever played the game? And even among that tiny fraction, how many of them actually LIKE doing it, as opposed to the number who do it because it's the only way to unlock, or effectively survive in, additional content? This decline occurred while more than 50% of the new content was being geared toward raiders. EQ has turned into a morass in terms of fresh blood, while EQ2 basically split their playerbase in half and added nothing. Is that DESPITE the games' massisve emphasis on raiding, or BECAUSE of it?
WoW is a new game, so there's no way to know where it will end up. What we do know is that it was built upon a gigantic influx of casual players.
Business, like life, consists of growth. Forgetting that, and focusing on the fear of losing what you have is what turned Howard Hughes from a vital captain of industry into a shadow of a man. When an MMORPG starts out with as high a percentage of raid emphasis as older games have devolved into, what does that say about it?
Of course no one but you is talking about whether raids are good or evil. If you genuinely want to play them, no one wants to take away your candy. (But bear in mind that even some of raiding's most ardent supporters, when pressed, will admit that the process is not "fun.") What we're talking about is whether raids are effectively a REQUIRED part of the game because that path only leads to one place, and there's a REASON they call it the "endgame."

I assume you mean that you only want to quest if there is other more useful equipment in the game, that you need to do other things to get - whether you particularly enjoy doing them or not - right?
Or, wait a minute... Do you mean to say that you ONLY want to do activities you LIKE doing? In a GAME?

That was meant as a rhetorical question. But the important thing is realizing WHY you are the way you are.
Of course there are plenty of questers out there happily minding their own business. The last thing you want is to live and let live. You'd never in a million years bother raiding in a game that had only raiding in it. As one of the more coherent contributors to this thread is fond of saying: A real raider will be perfectly happy in a setting where raiding give edges inside raids only. People saying otherwise are to raiding what Gankers are to PvP.
Your "playstyle" HAS to impose on that of other people, or it wouldn't exist. You can't possibly feel "superior" to anyone unless you beg a game designer to make some of them "inferior" to you.

I hope that this game has a lot of questing, if it doesnt have quests then i wont even bother with it, that is why i like eq2 so much the quest.
playing eq2 and two worlds
I assume you mean that you only want to quest if there is other more useful equipment in the game, that you need to do other things to get - whether you particularly enjoy doing them or not - right?
Or, wait a minute... Do you mean to say that you ONLY want to do activities you LIKE doing? In a GAME?
What kind of weirdo are you anyway?

Wow, you're anal. I think the majority of sentient beings would have assumed he meant as the game is at release. Way to be.
First off way to misquote. Second of all, I think you are intelligent enough to know I can read, I'm only assuming here. You said you would wait for a solo server, I said good luck. Now good day, Bernadette.
