I just got through reading the entire logical argument for pvp being a necissity in mmorpg's, in order for them to be pwerpetually fun, and well.....whew. Arguing this subject is like trying to persuade a pro-lifer to get an abortion....it won't happen....so get off your high horses and realize that some people love PvP, and some people hate it...end of story....Peace

Typical all-out PvP'rs response. Your way sucks, my way is great. Everybody should have to do it my way.
I like a little PvP action every now and then. But I can understand that there are people who do not want it. And they enjoy the game for what it is for them. Everybody finds things in games they enjoy. Each person can have their opinion. Why does somebody else's way have to be the "wrong" way, or why do you have to insult someone else's way?
Typical all-out PvP'rs response. Your way sucks, my way is great. Everybody should have to do it my way.

I said it was boring. Kill monster, get loot, do same thing over and over again. I find it utterly mundane, i'll say it how I see it. And I see it as boring, and I see people that enjoy it. You're obviously one, and again, I dont know why people like you enjoy doing the same thing over and over again.

So, in what way do you play an MMORPG and don't do the same thing over and over? Just because you are fighting a player instead of a NPC does not mean you are not doing the same thing over and over...
You do not level up by killing other players in PvP in most MMORPG's. So, you do not enjoy that part of the game?

1. No, I dont usually use the same tactics, they're likely different for every different character, depending on personal player skill, race, class, level, etc. Dont assume.
2. Social aspect if most carebear games is really the only thing that changes, because people are different. Which thats also what makes PvP different, people are different.

Killing players over and over again, especially new players that dont know how to even walk in the game is certainly more entertaining!
I enjoy sleeping, I enjoy eating, I enjoy walking, and no, I dont see it as been boring or repetitive.

Going to Mars for the NASA is nothing PvP related, while the first boxing round of the lowest competition is PvP, I guess NASA like to do boring and repetitive unchallenging things!

Most of us here just agreed with him and I think finwe too did.
However ,finwe you have to accept blame for starting another flame here.You are guilty plain and simple.
Your statement in similar to going into an Italian home and saying oh I dunno why you enjoy spagetti its revolting.You will get a responds like you did now and cause a flame war.
I am yet to see anyone change their mind concerning pvp or pve from any discussion ever.

This has got to be THE SILLIEST argument Ive ever heard. First they think pvp sux and is inherently bad and then once they realize not all pvp has to be bad it suddenly becomes their opinion. Yeah right... its just a bunch of crybabies that don't want to admit they are wrong. Its one thing for someone to have an opinion about valor or something like that because there is no real answer.

I havent seen any start in a flame war, and the only people that would think me saying that I think PvE is boring; is incent to start a flame war, are just mid-puberty 12 year olds that need to vent their anger on a messageboard because they'd get their butt whooped if they did it in their real life.
Could my post be used as an excuse to start a flame war by somone thats just itching for some moronic verbal fight? Yes. Is it the starting of a flame war, no.

Thank you Xaldor for putting an end to the nonsence. Now we can only hope that people will understand that it is useless to argue about such an opinionated question.

What I am talking about is not opinion at all. Is liking candy or chocolate someones opinion? They can answer whatever they want when you ask but they dont have control over weather it really tastes good or not. Something else determines weather it does or not, and that thing can be studied to determine what it is... fun is the same way just a little more complicated.

No one who likes PVE combat can say they don't like PVP combat. It's an invalid opinion. It's like saying you like to eat apples that stay edible and tasty for 1 week, but you don't like apples that stay edible and tasty for 2 weeks. It's just plain retarded. PVE is the same as PVP, except in PVE a dev programs a robot to fight you, where in PVP the player fights you directly. There are 2 benefits of PVP I can think of, and they are variance in combat possibilities, and potentially more challenging encounters. There are a few negative features that have been implemented in previous/current PVP systems, and they in turn have caused people to have negative experiences, and consequently negative conceptions of PVP in general, rather then the specific systems. This is unfortunate, since it's not PVP that caused the negative experiences, it was those systems of PVP. If those systems were reconfigured, or a new system developed, which removed/limited negative features used previously/currently, then the negative experiences could be eliminated, leaving only the benefits aformentioned. It's just stupid to say you would still not like PVP after all the things you didn't like about it were taken out!
