CoH Vs. WoW!

jacksjacks Member Posts: 55

What are you looking forward to most? and you will probably only play one at a time because of the monthly fees! Personally I would choose CoH any day!  Im tired of the swords and wands era.

Even though I despise WoW, I'm going with it. Overall it looks to be better than CoH...

CoH is going to blow away the competition.

WoW has very little character costumization and personaly, I'm tired of playing games where I look exactly like 2000 other people.

CoH on the other hand is said to have an extensive character editor so in my eyes, that alone sets it a few notches above WoW.

Also, from what I can tell by reading the forums, the WoW community is full of wannabe Battle.net hax0rs.

gotta go with CoH on this one... its about time the MMORPG community gets something different...

WoW is going to be the exact same thing we have seen in MANY previous MMO's, while CoH finally brings something new to the table...

I think they're both gonna suck. Why? Because they both have the exact perfect setting for PvP, but will either have none, or such a small partial amount, it'll be pointless.

That, and WoW, a rehash of already done, boring idea's, play for an hour, next please!

CoH, magic=superpowers, swords=punching and kicking. Same thing with a different setting.

What are you guys thinking? CoH is going to be lame because there is no PVP!!!! You cant even be a vilian... CoH is basicaly, kill bad guys and do lame quests.

If you ask me, I will like WoW rock any mrpg out there.

PvP in MMORPGs sucks anyway. Most of it is not player's skill, it's char's level. If I want real PvP, I'll load up Counter Strike or UT 2004.

Who cares if CoH doesn't have PvP it is a great game.  It has a hot new idea going for it.  It breaks away from normal MMORPG.

I'm much more interested in what CoH will offer than WoW. But I want to play WoW more than CoH.

I'm not even going to begin to bother commenting on which is better.

I can't judge yet, these games are barely in beta. I'd say WoW over CoH though. CoH is trying something fresh and new and it may fail.

WoW. CoH has a pretty cool idea, but i just don't see it happening.

There is so much content in WoW i'm sure i'll be happy with it. If not, I still have FFXI to fall back on.

CoH is fresh and they are trying something new. I applaud them for doing that even if I am more of a PvP-type of person. Each person having their own personal contacts for missions sounds a lot better than the mission systems seen in most games. I would like to know how that's working out.

Whats new? Besides changing the graphics and wording of things like magic, to superpowers?

I am inclined to agree with you. Although I rarely PVP I think without Supervillians and AT LEAST the option for PVP this will make CoH go the route of SB: Very boring when you hit the level soft cap. Unless the quests are very detailed with great results I think they may need to patch lots of content in.

    Just my two pesos.

I was talking about the Contacts feature. To quote the CoH site "No two players will end up having the same set of Contacts; everyone's experience can be unique. " That's new compared to other mission systems found in other MMORPGs. I'm not sure exactly how they implemented it or how it works since I'm not beta testing it and that's why I asked how it is working so far. Basically besides that, you're right. All the other features are the same thing with different names.

Based on content I have to give my vote to WoW. CoH, though a great new original concept, wont last more then 1-3 months because it's one dimensional, all you do is fight to level. Character creation is the only variety the game offers. Even though people say that no crafting, loot, money, PvP, player economy, etc... is a good thing, it's those things that give a game a change of pace and gets people to keep paying month after month. Lasting appeal is what determines the success of a MMORPG. I hope that I am wrong and CoH is a huge success that people play for years but I just dont see it happening. I have both games pre-ordered but CoH is just going to hold me over until WoW is released.

I think CoH is the best for killing bad guys. But I think WoW is just good all around. If CoH had PvP I think I would like it More.

Given two choices I would go for CoH.

CoH = Super Heroes GTA 3 that let you fly in suit and kill 3rd Reich Neo-Nazi wannabe dulls and other bad buddies instead of civilians and policemen/paramedics.

Hell, this game sounds politically correct and even very patriotic - DEFEND THE PARAGON CITY - sounds familiar?

I think the idea featured in this games are ingenious and many of them new.

Customization? This game gonna knock off Lineage 2, WoW, EQ 2 and possibly Guild Wars, etc.

Enough said. I will end my sentance here.

    But here is the fact.

I'M PLAYING THIS GAME. Not only try, but Pay Try. Period.

The last sentance speaks for itself.

I think both games are going to do very well. CoH for its originality and trying something different, and WOW for its content. I know I am going to try both but I believe WOW is going to blow away CoH in terms of sales. The hype around it is one of the largest I've seen for a MMORPG and then there is the fact that it is made by Blizzard, whose name always gets there games to sell well.

how does that make 1 game better than another? i mean, earth and beyond had nearly infinite character customization options, and it sucked!

Seeing customization in CoH and WoW, it's pretty safe to say that CoH blows it away just in that aspect alone. Like I said, I'm tired of playing games where my character looks exactly like 2000 other people on the server and with CoH it won't have to.

As for anything else, I'm afraid I can't really say much due to NDA. Since there are some people from the official boards who are actually reporting testers who have said a little too much, I rather not say anything. This game is too fun to get banned from.

Don't get me wrong, WoW will probably be a great game in it's own right, and I might even play it, but I'm just a little tired of elves and orcs and blacksmiths and all that other fantasy BS.

Superhero, supervillians, and postmodern mythos. Rock 'em, sock 'em, blast 'em up action has never felt so over-the-top and alive! Comic book mania and mondo fun! Elves, dwarves, and dragons need not apply. 'Nuff said!

    1. Wait, political correctness is a good thing?!

    2. Political correctness and GTA3 in the same sentence, my gosh, what is this world coming to.

WoW - Great Backround, Strong story and awesome environment.  Good for those people that want great gameplay, a strong story and something to mix it up a bit would be the Undead I suppose.  Drawback, a little bit of the norm, nothing TOO new about this type of game.

COH - New plot, being a hero is very cool, Modern Urban environment, good for those fantasy buffs that got lost into Marvel Comics as a kid.  Great customization also (so from what I hear).  Drawback - Same thing as WOW only the names have changed.

The games are two different MMORPG Genres, cant really compare them, I cant get too indepth here, because I dont know an Elongated extent of information on COH so they're both kinda weak, but to the point.
