Neverwinter Nights, AOL. Say what you will about boxy, pixelated graphics, turn-based combat with up to 8 people in a fight (most of us had dial-up back then, so when lag hit just one round could take 10 minutes) and the hourly pay rate (OMIGODZORZ!), that was the best and first MMORPG experience I had. Ah, how I miss those days.

My first MMORPG was Ultima online. The thing that drew me to the game was the box for some reason. Loved the cover of the box and when I read the back I thought wow. Got it home but on my 28.8k modem it was unplayable lag was massive, which was a shame as I loved the game. But have to admit I was addicted from that point.

Sierra - The Realm, MRA and Diaspora - started all three the same day, but don't remember which was technically my "first".

T4C beta tested in dec 97 until whenever it released.

Played on Wizardsrealm for awhile until I was asked to GM the game.

The game was a great experience and the community was even better.

    RIP

SWG for me, what a great game it once was!  Dont get me wrong, im not
with the "Im in complete denial about swg im going to cut my wrists" I
still think its a good game, I've been on and off of it lately.

My second MMO was planetside, then WoW then GW if it really counts.  Im
playing planetside and guildwars sort of, but im really hoping that
LotRO and WAR pull through, really looking forward to those two games.

Yserbius, from the Imagination Network. That was in the mid-90s when billing was based on account type and logon hours. I had unlimited play for (89.99-99.00 per month, I don't remember which) but my bills were always 400-500 dollars since I played before the 6PM dial in time for prime hours. I needed to grind even back in the 2D days...little did I know how much it would prepare me for my MMOs of today image

About 8 years ago...  I was about 15, I played ULTIMA ONLINE, and OMG I dont think I have ever had SO much fun in a game.  I had so many friends, and even eventually met up with some in RL!  It just seemed so magical!

Hey, I remember back then you had to communicate through ICQ alot just to speak over long distance.  Since there was no friend list on anything at that time. =)

I guess also as it was my first MMO, it would also seem so special. <3

If I remembeer right it was EQ between Scars of Velious and Luclin.  Also started playing DAoC within a week of launch.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

  • Bard's Tale.  A massive amount of people played that right?

Everquest. I picked it up when I was 14 right when Kunark was released.

    Current MMO: WoW/GW2
