2) The claim that they'll have 10,000 players on one server with twitch gameplay. That's gonna take some serious servers with some serious bandwidth. And this is a small, independent company you say? Hmmm.......
Either this game is a total scam, or it's going to die due to an overambitious dev team. The way I see it, they have only a few options at this point:
1) make the combat more traditional and "tic based." No face is lost with this approach and the game will still remain "hardcore" <cough> FFA PvP.
2) Reduce the sever numbers to something more realistic (like 3000 per). Again, no shame in admitting to shooting too high and the game is still FFA PvP.
3) Keep the twitch combat and release a stand alone product similar to Neverwinter Nights and Minions of Mirth. This would probably piss of the followers of this game most of all, but stay true to the twitch based PvP philosophy that they were shooting for. Don't know about anyone else, but a 100 vs. 100 battle in this game looks like a blast. I would probably play this version.... a lot.
Honestly, I don't think this game will ever see the light of day. Can't say that I care too much since there are so many other games that I'm looking forward to. Hellgate: London (can we have hardcore mode? PLEEEAAASSSEEEE??!!), Warhammer, AoC, Supreme Commander, Huxley, Metroid Prime: Corruption, The Wii version of Fire Emblem, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, UT 2007, etc. I have all kinds of ways to get my murder on right now and plenty more ways coming in the future. Why piss and moan over whether this game is vapor when I can play Counter-Strike: Source, PvP Dungeon Siege 2, and Warhammer 40K: Dark Crusade until AoC or Warhammer come out?

All I'm doing is putting my time and interest into what I want from a game. And DF seems to offer just that. Can they or can't they? Time will tell... and when I'm tired of waiting I'l leave.

I know the game itself is pretty damn dated, but what other mmo can you have complete control over your stats and skills and have completely non-instanced whole world + corpse loot pvp?

It seems reasonable for a game with a small group of developers (no more than 40 currently) would take time to develop a game with todays standards.
Vanguard took 5+ years and released early, and it had some serious backers.
I may look at AC, but I'l wait (for a while) on DF.

Blood still owning everyone? hehe botters are in a lot of places, particularly the marketplace and most monarchys use bots. honestly it's good to use bots for the first 100 lvls. They've added xp grinding dungeons to get people to lvl up quick since everyone is so advanced now. Pretty much lvl 180 is the new lvl 60 of 4 yrs ago. But who cares, start all over again, get to holtburg and raid the dungeon for the lich at the bottom with 20 other lvl 2s!

Hell yeah, Holtburg was the best! Especially when I was a noob and defended the local cow from other noobs...that is before a level 20 would run in, jump on the roof and try shooting us, at which point i'd run into the mage tower and taunt him, good times!
I know it imposible to convince some to have patience and just wait for game like Darkfall, but if you want a game thats have best of ac/uo and much more with great grafics open pvp full loot this the game:)

umm.. you made a good point, but for a wrong person. Thats exactly what i meant. Previous guy said that if you want to experience skill combat, go play FPS games. Same could be said for roleplay.
What im trying to say is that mmorpgs could very easily have skill based, fast paced combat, no need to narrow it for just FPS games.

Boy you know nothing about me I hate RP and live for the day that a true PVP game comes out that actually will hold me (WAR!!!!).... But untill that day I will not be satisfied with horrible games like ShadowBane, Roma Victor, and the latest piece of crap looking game to throw its hat in the ring provided it even comes out DARKFAIL.
This game looks like crap and just like its brother ShadowBane, it will be crap. Like others have said if these foolish devs think they will actually pull a EVE and get close to 10k people on one server they are fooling themselfs.. They do not have the bank account to back it up, which is obvious in the fact that they are struggling even getting the game out.
I go through this year after year with you fanbois and year after year im the one that is right. Noone wants a PVP game more then me, because truth be known I love to kill people online and humilate them. And I live for the challange of when somoene beats me becaues it makes me try even harder next time.. But as I said before I want a well rounded and complete game, not another Roma Victor or ShadowBane clone, which is what DarkFail will be.
As a said before this is the 2007 hell maybe even 2008 or 09 (if it even comes out) version of Shadowbane. Nothing more and everything less.
