If eat a taco and the first 2 bites are truly gross... are you going to continue eating because the next bite might be nice?
No i won't i'll be sefish and not even consider the poor kids in Africa that would die for that disgusting taco that might be nice if i just put some more effort in it.
I tottaly agree with Gameloading on the point, the only think you can say about a MMORPG by playing for 30 mins or even some hours is sth near to nothing. This since the time you spended compared to the time needed to know the full potencial of the game is sth about 1/500.I still believe that MMORPG part of what you call fun is what we call accoumplishment. Many games need to spend a lot time on them to reach the point you can say "Hey today, finaly, i did sth really special" and feel happy about it. You simply dont follow the golden rule Learn... then Speak. Then learn more... speak more. Imo AL is a nice F2P game.I played it about for a month and i reached 40 lvl on an Orc Sorc. The pvp action is nice.Spells, skills look preaty cool.Altho at the begining the pvp is about potions later on requires skill. The items (weapon/armor/jewels)give you very nice potencial on make em differ(make em ++,Puting elemental stones on them and even special abilities. I would rate it with a 7/10 as an F2P game. Even if i say this game is very good(10/10) you cannot dabate me SIMPLY cause you played the game only for 2-3 hours. I never liked how WoW looks but i cannot say this game is bad simply by looking at it.The only think i can debate about WoW is how WoW looks. You got my point? Indeed, I was in the open beta of archlord, and right away, you could just tell the game was going to be bad... lot of people seem to expect HIPS of new features added after closed/open beta... sorry people, but that doesn't happen...
Yes they had quests or new areas maybe... I don't call that new features... what you see when you start is pretty much what the game is going to be like... And I'm afraid to say most f2p mmo's released recently are all identical... they bring nothing new, and hold little to no interest... (which is probably why they're f2p ... I can't picture anyone in their right mind paying a monthly fee for most of the latest mmorpg's... which we can qualify as WoW clones, or exported and translated asian games)... to me, they pretty much all look the same...
Bless Eve, and some of the older mmo's... they're the oldest, yet they're STILL the leaders on the market... if developpers want to bring new games, can they at LEAST bring something NEW? and for GOD sake get them to get some proper background music... the same sounds over and over and over does NOT qualify as a proper background music!!! LOL

It does take 5-15 minutes for a game like WoW to see what the game is like, because the game is like that all the way up to level 70.
I'm offended by this statement.
I'm no WoW or AL vet (heck, i haven't even tried AL, but with the community I see? Not gonna try it.) but I played WoW for a short while, read the features, etc. The game isn't just questing and grinding. There are milestones in your WoW Gaming Career too. Getting a mount, reaching level 70, then getting a flying mount, going to another place, killing a boss, participating in raids (which I've seen my cousin do. lol) and things like that. It's just that Blizzard made the first part of the game fun enough to keep you playing, so you can reach those milestones. IMHO every game should be like that.
Wow, some things never change. I leave for a few months, come back, and here is gameloading, STILL making a fool of himself with his INCREDIBLY close minded opinions.
Gameloading, STFU noone likes you, this game is garbage. I HAVE played it fgrom beginning to end and it sucked even worse at higher levels. No skill required
This is the same company that made RF Online. The spamming of potions, boring quests, and retarded gameplay is right on que for them. Hell, even the problem with the login is on point. Sorry, but I learned my lesson with RFO, unfortunately I wasted $50 and time that I can never get back. Oh, DDO and RFO make great bookends.
Worst game ever. I was in beta and i knew how pathetic it was going to be. This game is for brain dead people. After i saw gamespot review and 3.5/10 score i knew i was right. What a horrible game.

Oh boo hoo, its little chuck norris. "omgz gameloading nobody likes you boo hoo". So, how long is it going to take before you get banned this time because you have the maturity of a child of 10? You have about 3 accounts banned so far, and you did in less then 2 weeks. Also, you didn't play till higher level, because you already started whining about the game before it was even in retail. I doubt that a child like you would continue playing. So, are you going to "challenge" people to a insult contest again, just like last time hm?
I have close minded opinions? Thats rich, I played the full game before I judged it, you already badmouthed the game before it left BETA.
Indeed, some things never change. you get banned for a few months, you come back, and your STILL acting like a little child, insulting people who don't agree with you.. Also, you didn't leave for a few months, you were BANNED for a few months. All 3 of your accounts have been banned. Get the hint: People who can only insult other people are not wanted here.

Wow, getting a mount, and killing a boss, now that is a total change of gameplay isn't it?
For me the game is really fun. I bought it together with two friends and we talk about skype while playing and it makes fun!
Everyone has another opinion....
I also understand the people who dont like this game... many bugs i know... and many others are not so good.. but for me party play is important. i would never buy it when nobody of my friends play it too... because alone playing is boring..
WoW is also a good game but 26€ for 2 months is too much i think... but u get service...
everyone is entitled their opinions and its still up to u whether you want to buy it or not, personally, im goin to try it out. 30 bucks aint that much, spent more on t-shirts supporting my school be4 heh
You should've read some reviews on this site before you bought it. I think everyone and their mother knew this game was total crap before it was even released. I beta tested it too and it sucked. I played for an hour and was done.
Actually my mother still doesn't know it sucks... had better tell her soon before she does something stupid.
I have played this game since beta... Well... I played it in beta, then dropped it after launch. The graphics are poor, at best... The interface is clunky and aggravating... Theres no choice of facial features and sex... And theres TECHNICALLY only three different classes. You have your Melee, your Ranged, and your Mage... Theres basically no difference in them between the races... Only the type of equipment that can be used. Drop rates are pathetically designed, PvP has absoultely no rules, and its impossible to level up after you hit 12.
This game is a boring, pointless, and story-less grindfest with no customizable content.
The only good thing that came from this game was the idea of a player-God through a tournament system... In which Lineage 2 implimented better and more fairly.

Actually the classes start to differ quite a bit after higher levels. Impossible to level up after you hit 12? What in heavens name are you talking about? reaching level 12 takes less then 2 hours!

I do agree with most said here.
When you say "impossible to Level after you hit 12", I assume you mean because of all the Pkers around? (if memory serves me right, around that time, you get put in non protected areas for several quests, if you can call them such things).
Otherwise, yes I totally agree, I was in CB and OC... and like 2moons, it looked BAD right off the start (grindfest with occasional quests).
9dragons isn't AS bad (at least there are quite a few quests, although once you reach L40's it's starting to feel a bit... repetitive)...
Archlord is just a giant grind fest like you said
------------------------------------------------------------ No trees were hurt while sending this message. However a Large amount of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. ------------------------------------------------------------ Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
It *could* and *should* have been much better as the potential was there, however Codemasters had no idea about the gameplay and structure hence throw the game into a box and charge a subscription for it.
The game was designed as an item hence this approach never worked and no-one brought it and hence the change to an item mall.
The game has spiked in users since the change but is expected to fall back to the same number as before (i.e. no one playing). I then expect the game to be free to download but it will be to late by then.
even free... it'll still be a waste of perfectly usable bandwith ^_^

Something that is becoming quite regular on mmorpg.com is people who instantly jump on the "this game sucks" bandwagon and/or people who play games for one hour and assume the game is utter crap.
So i decided to try Archlord, and see what it was like, hey it was a cheap game, no monthly fees, what had i got to lose?
So far, this game is pretty decent, quests every level so far, and even if they are still "loot and repeat" quests, its something that takes the pain out of straight up grinding, graphically i think its decent also.
gameplay wise, its pretty similar to most games, combat is fun for me, i like the combo attacks, buff animations, they remind me somewhat of the SRO anims, but a little cleaner and a bit more detailed.
Models in the game are pretty good too, mobs are well done, some of the character models looks awesome to me, specifically orcs, big badass warriors with swords is a fetish i've had for years.
Ive yet to rip up the levels, but so far this isn't a grindfest, its easy going for me, and ive played alot of the big grindy games thats been out over the past few years.
Seems to me most of the "I HATE DIS GAEM U GUYZ" people we see now are the wow floaters, who are pretty much used to having every level served on a silver plater with a little "YOU ARE GOOD!" badge.

Gameloading, you have my respect because your one of few people who will say what he thinks regardless of the illiterate spam hate threads attract.
I do agree draw your own opnions but i would also listen to the people that have played it. Its still a pile of poo no matter how you dress it up. Id give it no more than 6 months before they close it down as a loss maker.
Greatness is difficult to appreciate from close up. The great mountain on the horizon is only the ground when you are standing on it.
yeh this game isnt that great( not the worst out there though), it has its ups(pking) and downs(grinding to lvl) but all in all, if u cant afford to pay the monthly cost for another game i would prefer this over Guild wars, since it dosnt give you as much choice as this game does.
As I see it Gameloading is doing more BS on this thread than playing his stupid crappy game. My however dd you level? If you played all the games to the left but only show 4 games on your signature, did you play each game for a month then move on to boast and brag you have played them? Playing a game for a month is only going to get you maybe to what end game then as most people know lvl'ng fro 1-x is not the same as playing at the cap level.
You know it has been proven that it takes 21 consecutive days of doing something to make it a habit. If for wahetever reason someone does not like anything in those 21 days, chances are they will most likely abandon it all together. So if you play a game 12 hours, 4 hours or 15 days and you ddon't like it, you are going to delete it.
I had a similar experience of loot where it dropped under a corpse, I waited for the corpse to vanish but when the corpse vanished my loot vanished as well. Are you honestly going to say this changes at a higher level? Can you honestly say the graphics are not the same as they were at lvl 1 and cap lvl?
Gameloading you said something in an earlier post to the affect that if a person has a bad time on the trip to their destination, on a vacation, this does not make the entire vacation bad. I tend to disagree with you. If the journey to the destination is bad, most likely 9 out of 10 people will have a bad vacation all around because of the trip to the destination. Basically if you go to your local park and slide down a slide with sandpaper when you get to the bottom you aren't goin to be a happy camper and probaly wont slide down it again. You might even leave the playground. I made this example to fit your playground mentality and age, just so you know.
As far as the game is free 2 play to not be the last step before tumbling into oblivion (now isnt that a fun game), then you need to read the fine print carefully. As it is stated (I will paraphrase here) "Archlord will be freee until we get enough players by such and such date. AT that time if we don't have enough players by such and such date, we will evaluate Archlord and discontinue it."
That is the basic notice you get when you sign up for a free account with the people that destroyed DnD forever. If you didn't get that when you read through the new account process, then you are a baffoon for not reading the fine print.
In the end Archlord sux. LOTRO actually has near the same graphics as Archlord. SO after playing several hours in beta with LOTRO I can safely say I give LOTRO a 45/100 because of graphic suckability.
Archlord and LOTRO graphics reminds me of playing single RPG of the early nineties. They sucked too after an hour of playing them.
If warriors and priests are the peanut butter and jelly of a MMO, no wonder I hate macaroni and cheese.
I downloaded the trial and within 5 minutes I figured out that pressing Spacebar will auto-pick up loot.

Playing a game for a month is only going to get you maybe to what end game then as most people know lvl'ng fro 1-x is not the same as playing at the cap level. Writing a reply takes a whooping 45 seconds at best. Wow, 45 whole seconds! I totally spend 3/4th of my spare time in this forum now! I actually don't brag or boast about the games I played at all, my point was to counter the OP's poor arguement "Only people who don't know any better play this game!". The reason there are only 3 (Yes, 3, not 4) games in my signature is because those are the games I am currently playing.
You know it has been proven that it takes 21 consecutive days of doing something to make it a habit. So if Iplay a game 12 hours, 4 hours or 15 days and I ddon't like it, I am going to delete it.
Let me fix that for you.
Here is a trick. hang on, and read carefully: Hit the SPACE BAR to pick up loot. If your in a group, you don't even have to do that, since loot gets transfered to your backpack right after killing a mob. easy eh? and yes, things changes at higher level, such as the animations and spell effects become much more impressive at higher levels, as you learn new skills.
You might even leave the playground. I made this example to fit your playground mentality and age, just so you know. I think you might want to drop that number to 2 out of 10 people. millions of people each year sit in a car for hours and hours, and sometimes even days, moving to their holiday destination, myself included. sure, your free to disagree with me, I'll be sure to think of that when I'm at my vacation destination having a great time while you sit down at home, being bored because the trip was too much too handle. this was just an example by the way, don't even bother commenting on it.
As far as the game is free 2 play to not be the last step before tumbling into oblivion (now isnt that a fun game), then you need to read the fine print carefully. If you didn't get that when you read through the new account process, then you are a baffoon for not reading the fine print. In the end Archlord sux. LOTRO actually has near the same graphics as Archlord. Archlord and LOTRO graphics reminds me of playing single RPG of the early nineties. They sucked too after an hour of playing them. I actually get a feeling there there isn't a lot of things you actually do like.
