took you two weeks to explore this vast huge game? im not even out of the starting city yet.. notice a difference? Its a game for people who like to play slow and enjoy immersiveness.
bye!.
I haven't met a single player who doesn't like immersiveness. We are saying, that for us, it's not immersive enough.
I cancelled my account recently as well. For me it was the grind. Nothing is better then grinding away then finally lvling up only to get no reward at certain lvls. To me that sucks when it takes so damn long to lvl up. They should at least offer somthing new each lvl instead of 5 things one lvl then 0 others. Then when you die you lose a few days worth of xp. Not for me. Congrats to everyone still having fun with VG.
Oh yeah, not a big fan of the character models either.
"I'm sorry but your mmo has been diagnosed with EA and only has X number of days to live."
This game has the potential to be great, however there are many serious bugs that will detract from the immersiveness in the game.
In my opinion this game is still beta, perhaps 6 months from launch. We are basically paying to beta test. I cannot justify paying a monthly fee for this. Frankly I am surprised and dissapointed the game was released to the public in this state. It does not leave a good impression and could be detrimental to the community development.
Unfortunately, it seems that what we have ended up with is a vast world.. with nothing in it. Unless you just like to run around and look at the scenery.
Time after time I have run for 5-10 minutes on a horse and not seen one single mob or anything else of note. Lots of pretty trees and rocks and grass.. but no content.
Size of the world does not mean much if it is barren.
Bla bla bla... some old complaining and cloned posts... Why can't people just leave quietly and stop wasting our time.
If you are playing VG, you should have no concern about time wastage anyway Such posts do not address the fanatical and blinded fanbois. They are merely to warn sane and mature gamers who are seeking the learn the truth about this game. They are written to warn such people not to make the same mistake.

Yeah it seems to suffer from SWG syndrome..........
I call it "the big empty" because thats what it is. Huge planets of vast landscape with nothing on it. If it wasnt for the dynamic spawn system there wouldnt have been any mobs to see. I wonder if VG wouldnt have been better off using the dynamic spawn system from SWG perhaps it would alleviate he empty feeling to some extent.
Its hard to feel immersed when you get the impression you are the only living thing around.
Critical thinking is a desire to seek, patience to doubt, fondness to meditate, slowness to assert, readiness to consider, carefulness to dispose and set in order; and hatred for every kind of imposture.
So there is no lore, nothing to explore and no great vistas ?
LOL, i guess you rushed with the crowd and now your immersion is spoiled ?
I am playing since release. I am 18 half way into 19 and almost 15 as crafter. I never grinded but at 18 i can travel vast landscapes and i find new places over and over again. I too have problems to get into the cardgame. But the more i see and learn the more i want to go back and try and learn it. There are tons of lore outside of the cardgame. Ever cared for reading your quests and conversations ?
Who builded the steam emitting pillars ? Which race or culture leaft the ruins behind in qualia ? Who are the refugees in the refugee camp and where do they come from ? What was this mysterious opening of the rift that swallowed the Raki homelands ? Who opened it ? Whats the problem with the imperialists and the monks ? And that are only a few questions about nonexistend lore :P
No vistas, no catch in starterareas ? Can only talk about the woodelfes. Breathtaking vast forest, snow covered mountains. Breathtaking views on a sunny day. Thick and damp fog crawling up from the ocean....
I agree with the OP and tbh anyone who doesn't really see his point or flames him is a fanboi. Ihad high hopes for it but then i played the beta and too was disappointed with the boring world but mainly the character models and animations + spell effects. The quests seemed to be nothing new and bugs bugs everywhere lol. The diplomacy system was crap aswel, it just did nothing for me and you couldn't lose it :
I think it's a boring ugly game and i can't see where people are saying it has great graphics from : THe graphics engine is OLD and the art is generic.
I have respect for everyone who leaves this game and does not feel it is for them. But saying it is a big and empty world is just a big fat lie. It is filled with lore and mobs and npcs and, at least on Gelenia, with other players. I can't believe how people actually manages to miss the huge amount of lore there is to discover. You find some of it through the very fun, to me, diplomacy minigame. BUT you alos find a lot of it through the ordinary quests.
Come on people, learn to read the quests and actually explore the gameworld. This is not a game you are being handfed everything, that is one of the strong points of this game (to a lot of us at least). If you don't like the game, fine then quit (and yes there are still bugs...) but don't lie about what is in the game!

When I refer to the world as empty, I'm not talking about little text boxes. Call me illiterate, call me unimaginative, but I don't care about that kind of content. I'd rather all quests were stripped down to thier raw elements, "kill 10 of these, bring me 10 of those," without all that story I simply don't care about, and consider a pure waste of dev resources. Course, this may be why I find diplomacy so very boring, too.
Lore that's not eye-candy? Just text? Bleh
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
Ok, Vhaln. Then I understand you better. I don't agree with you, maybe cause I am a librarian and like to read? But at least I can understand you, but to me those little text boxes gives a lot of background to the environment and makes a huge difference in any game I happen to play.
Even tho im only lvl 20, and understand some players frustration, i still feel this game have potential and loads of hope (thats up the the devs ofc)
Ive been playing WoW since US beta, and that game wasnt flawless at the start either, but ppl tend to forget that since its now a fine tuned game for the masses. Ive always called WoW the perfect babysitter for lazy parents, but Vanguard seems to have a lot more mature players and so far Im enjoying that. WoW had a crappy childish community, hopefully Vanguard wont.
Vanguard have its up and downs like all games, but im willing to give them a chance to get things right, and my own experience so far is that the devs and GMs are working hard to handle any issuses we might have.
Not all can like all games..... guess thats why there is so many games made each yeat :P
I will always move to a better game... a better game for me...time will show how long Vanguard can keep me
Are you kidding me!! Vanguard has the WORST fanboi community I have ever seen... nothing in WoW compares..
Take hope and potential ...put it in one hand and crap in the other and see what fills up faster..
You can love Vanguard all you want.. but when you start trying to convince yourself the community is SO much better then other games.. you are crossing the line.. honestly..
Its a game for people who like to play slow and enjoy immersiveness.
Most of us have RL for that.
Oh..good grief...that is the most overused and cliche implication used in forums. Wanting a deep, involved, and immersive world to spend their free time in by no means implies that someone has no real life.
Would you say the same thing to someone that prefers a novel compared to a pop-up book?
Would you say the same thing to someone that prefers a long, deep movie compared to American Idol ?
Do movie watchers have no life because they sit through a movie for 2 hours when they could just be at home watching a sit-com?
The desire to have a deep, long lasting, immersive world is a natural one for anyone with an IQ greater than their shoe size.
You really have no RL if you must have an immersive world, it is only a game!
If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1)
Wow forgot to add one of the other main reasons why I cancelled my VG account. Character customization in VG sucks! Aside from being different races, each class is the exact same as everyone elses. Meaning every warrior is the same as all the other warriors just different race/gear. I want more customization options. Its asham because VG does have a lot of things I like unfortunatly it doesnt have enough to warrent $15 a month.
"I'm sorry but your mmo has been diagnosed with EA and only has X number of days to live."
what people seems to be missing is tath this is a game that is trying to take mmo's to the next level. they have done so to a huge point in that you need some good hardware just to play it. the thing with an mmo...is that you have to understand all the things that go into making one. here are a few: first you have to answer to the all mighty dollar. in an artistic project this is always a problem. art and creativity are always hounded by those in control of the money. second you have to code the thing. the more you try to break away the more time you have to spend tyring to creat your work....and the code that doesn't exist. it takes time but that doesn't stop your funders from getting on your back. a third point in the mix is the public...which is waiting for your work to come out so they can experience that "rush" that a starwars pre cu gave us when the jedi started unlocking.....
look....everyone wants fun.....but if you want an mmo that is really going to take you somewhere different...you have to be willing to invest with the artist and believe. no one is saying that vanguard is going to be the best mmo ever.....maybe wow has better graphics...but it's the same mmo that's out there over and over and over again. look at the game list on this site.....
to take a game to that "special feeling" point you have to be willing to sign on and take a chance. if your not the kind of player that is interested in that, and want the perfect mmo right now....then your asking for somehting that probably is just never gonna happen. at least if you stick with wow or cov...you get fun and instant gratification right away. for some of us though...we're done with that and understand that it's gonna take some time for something that is trying to takethings to the next level to actually do so. what is the most important here is that Sigil is trying to do that....i don't see anyone els trying to do it...if so plz post it here so i can go and try those games as well....

I agree totally and finally dumped my station pass. The Vanboi's in vg are unreal give me a break the " vanguard is made for the mature gamer and the vanguard community is so much better then WOW''s".Please ,If mature gamer in vanguard means being blind and then flame anyone that points out the fualts(which there are tons) Then i'll take the so called group of kids that play WOW any day at least they have a excuse (being younger) for being total shithead's, But what's the "MATURE" vg players excuse? good luck to you and keep the faith theirs 4 or 5 DNL players swearing by the "OMG big seamless world and this game has so much potential" sorry, but I like games that are semi-bug free and VG is a bug riddled mess.. back to EVE and waiting to see if AOC or warhammer will have a better release. One thing VG has done is set my expectations so low I don't see how AOC or warhammer can fail.

well most of the bad community is people like you on these boards ... I am assuming...if you played the game at all ... that you probably acted the same way in game .... So that means nothing to me.
You probably have no idea what your talking about ... and just like to hear yourself babble ... Maybe he likes the community....maybe he has more experience then you in game and it led him to that opinion...your telling him he is crossing a line?...listen to yourself for a second and figure out who is crossing the line. Get a grip.

If only i could find a troll with a tin foil hat. =(

I might try again in a few months.

Is that too long for you guys? That was in about 4 hours of gameplay. I think it's alright.
